Story
"There is a gentleness in her eyes that I see. I hate to see healthy, non-aggressive animals euthanized". That was the email we received about weeks ago in regards to Eleanor. She was on her last day and no other rescue had stepped up to take her. We were really her last chance. 1 week later, and here she is with us. We named her after the finest car in "Gone in 60 Seconds". And, truly, if she got off her leash, she would be gone in about 0.6 seconds! Eleanor is painfully shy and scared but lets us love on her and doesn't try to get away. She does well in a crate. She needs work..lots of it, but in her eyes, we see hope too. She is not currently for adoption but can be sent to an experienced foster home. Reach out to us via email if you are interested in fostering Eleanor. She is a diamond in the rough.

Story
Sam is 6-year-old German Shepherd raised in New York since he was a puppy.  He lived on an acre of land and loved going for walks, especially during the winter to enjoy the snow.  Sam can follow basic commands and is a playful but gentle giant and gets along with older considerate children. Sam likes other dogs and enjoys playtime with them.  He would be a great companion for another playful, well socialized dog.  Sam craves human attention and sometimes he thinks he is a lap dog but forgets he is 105lbs. Sam is now living in Bolivia.  He loves the warm weather, and going to the kennel so he can play with other dogs.  However, Sam's now living in a developed community with a small backyard and the area is a bit noisy for him.  His parents have developed some health issues and it's been a challenge for them to make sure Sam gets the walks and activities he is used to that make him happy.  This weighs heavily on his parents' mind and that is why they are seeking to find him a new home. Sam is still a young and playful boy.  He  is extremely smart.  He loves taking walks and being active.  He needs more space to run to keep him exercised, a secure fenced in yard is a must.   Sam wants someone who can spend time giving him exercise and the things he needs to be happy.  His parents would like to give Sam a great life with a wonderful new family who will give him the opportunity to live his best life possible.   Sam is neutered and current on vaccinations.  Sam would like an experienced dog owner, preferably with shepherd experience.  He would also like a secure fenced in yard to run and play.  If you are interested in adopting Sam, please contact Donna at BMSR1313@gmail.com.  THIS IS A COURTESY POST.    Blue Moon Shepherd Rescue only adopts to applicants in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.  If you are interested in being considered to adopt this dog, please fill out an online application by clicking here.   April 26, 2024, 9:17 am

Story
Parker is a spunky, energetic and playful boy. He is incredibly smart and very fast. We think he is about 4.5 years old. Parker came to us from a shelter which was unable to provide any information about the first year of his life. Parker loves to be outside. He enjoys chasing a ball and also taking naps in the sun. He is crate and leash trained. Parker has enormous energy and requires daily exercise to channel his energy.  Parker doesn’t do well with children because of their high level of activity and noise.  He does have a very high prey drive, like a lot of shepherds.  Parker likes quiet, order and routine so an adult-only home is a must for him. Parker lived in a home with a cat for two years and though the two were not friendly, they lived together peacefully. Parker would prefer to be the king of his castle and an only dog.  He has interacted with many other dogs without incident.  However, he can become  uncomfortable meeting new dogs or people while on leash or otherwise restrained (in crate, behind gate, etc).  Parker will do best where he has space to enjoy outdoors and plenty of attention from his people. A secure fenced in yard is a must.  Parker needs an experienced handler to help guide him.  Parker would love a family of his own so he can give them love and loyalty.   Parker’s rabies vaccine is good through March 2025. He has had regular veterinary care and is neutered and microchipped.  If you are an experienced German shepherd home that wants a loyal and loving companion to share your life with, please contact BMSR1313@gmail.com for more information.

Story
Good things come in small packages.  Meet Nika our sweet and petite girl.   She is about 1 1/2 years old and has had quite an adventure in her young life.  She has already had a litter of puppies and her family left her tied to a tree with her puppies beside her.  Although this was a terrible experience, Nika doesn’t let that keep her down.  Nika has a wonderful personality and loves to meet people.  Although she is young she doesn’t have that crazy puppy energy.  She loves to play ball and run around with her favorite toy and then she likes to relax with her people.   Nika is very affectionate and enjoys attention.  She will bond quickly with her new family and enjoy following you around in typical German shepherd fashion.  Nika is very smart and observant.  She is a quick learner and knows her obedience training very well.  She enjoys learning new things and if treats are involved she is your girl.  Nika walks great on leash and enjoys her daily walks.  She also loves car rides.    Although Nika didn’t have the opportunity to meet many dogs in her previous life, she does well with other dogs.  She doesn’t like very high energy dogs and does have a high prey drive so definitely NO small dogs please and DEFINITELY no cats!!!  She would do best with a medium or large male dog but most likely would not enjoy living with another female.   Nika is a beautiful, sweet and loving girl who will make a great companion to a lucky family who will give her the life she deserves.  Although she does seem to do well with children, we will only place her in a home with children over 16 years of age.   Nika would thrive with an experienced shepherd family that will help her continue her journey to learning about the world.  And must have a secure fenced in yard.     Nike is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and on monthly heartworm preventative.  If you are interested in this beautiful treasure, please fill out an online application at https://form.jotform.com/83115668015152.
