Story
Nikita is a 6-year-old German shepherd with food allergies. She is currently on a prescription diet. She is very driven and active. Nikita would do best in a home without cats and a very active human. She loves to always pack around a toy in her mouth and will chase her tail for days. Nikita's Wishlist consists of Purina HA Salmon, Fortiflora Calm, Kong dog toys, and an orthopedic dog bed. Meet Nikita! Her favorite thing to do is chase her tail, but she is not as into cat friends. She needs more exercise than a bodybuilder. The most important thing to know about Nikita is that she must always carry something in her mouth.

Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Story
Fully vetted on July 10th so he’s good for the year, has been around our other dog but has never been around any others, is fine with our cat. We don’t have the time for him and he deserves more attention. He is much larger than we anticipated we were originally told he would be about 40lbs and he got much larger and looks to be German shepherd not Australian shepherd. Does ok with our toddler but is overly excited.

Story
This big bear of a dog cannot wait to find his people: Meet Oso! He is a big, playful guy who has never met a stranger. Oso is always friendly with people of all ages. He loves going for car rides and playing games of tug. He is a proper gentleman on a leash, and he loves to just be near his favorite people. He has bundles of energy just waiting for someone to play and take him for adventures! The best kind of home for Oso: Oso is an active dog who craves more than a neighborhood walk to be fulfilled. He loves to play games of tug and to chase around his toys. He would be great for an adopter looking to be active with a large dog. Oso is very clean in his space, never making messes or being destructive with bedding. He does best with female dogs, but may prefer to be the king of his castle. His previous family said he did well with cats when supervised.

Story
Janine is going to be a blast for her future family! She wants to be with her people as much as possible and isn’t shy about singing a little song if she thinks she’s missing out. She’s sweet, playful, and full of personality, though she appreciates a little time to warm up to new faces before she shows her whole self. Playtime is where Janine really shines. Tug games are her absolute favorite and she will happily give you a workout. If there’s something to chase, she lights up instantly. She is great on a leash and keeps her kennel tidy. Janine's best fit: Janine will thrive in a home where she can stay active, engaged, and close to her people. She was found as a stray with another dog but has not been formally dog tested yet. She can do well with respectful children who understand giving her space when she asks for it. Her ideal family will enjoy play, routine, and a dog who brings laughter into everyday life.

Story
Felix is so full of personality, you can't help but love him! This guy loves a good game of fetch and will quickly befriend anyone with a ball. He has a big bark and lots to say, but Felix has never met a stranger. He is full of spunky energy and would love a home where he can play and go on adventures.  The best kind of home for Felix: Felix will make a great dog for someone willing to guide him. He is great with other dogs. He does have a fluffy double coat that will require some basic maintenance to keep him comfortable and your home free of hair. Felix will need some help with house training, but his previous owner said he did well under normal circumstances. With some patience and guidance, we expect he would learn very quickly.
