Let me introduce you to Knox, a very unique mix of German Shepherd and Boston Terrier who is about 10 weeks old. Knox currently weighs about 13 pounds and we expect him to be a medium sized dog. Knox is still a sweet little puppy with thick soft puppy fur that is a gorgeous red and black. He has beautiful black markings on his nose, giving his face a very handsome look. Knox is such a sweet natured dog and you can see it when you look into his beautiful dark brown eyes that show such curiosity and wonder for his surroundings. Knox and his siblings were unfortunately puppy mill discards that didn’t find a home, so Pound Dog Rescue took them in to give them the best chance at finding their forever homes. Knox was full of joy and excitement when we brought him into our home and it didn’t take long for him to warm up to his surroundings! He loves to check everything out and has such confidence to explore and do whatever he wants to do. This boy is certainly a leader and is always initiating play time, or initiating a good sniffing hunt in the backyard. Knox would do well in pretty much any home situation as he is a pretty easy-going guy. He absolutely loves all of his foster dog siblings and wants to run around and play with them all the time. When they are outside it is constant playing and sniffing out those real good scents, getting zoomies to run from one end of the yard to the next, he also loves searching through the last few piles of leaves that we have hanging around. Once he comes in there is always more play time, then some independent play with a toy or chew bone, and then he will find a nice quiet and comfy place to take a nap. Knox certainly doesn’t let his size get in the way of playing, he has no problem initiating wrestling matches and tug of war with the big dogs, he certainly thinks that he is one of them! Knox’s ideal home would have another playful dog for him to expel some energy, but we also think Knox would do well as an only dog. Knox can at times be a stubborn little guy and he wants to do things on his own time and thinks he can do whatever he wants, when he wants to do it. Knox is also currently living with a cat, he has not had much exposure to the cat other than to see her on her perch, but he has not shown much interest in her. Knox also lives with two teens in the house, considering he is still a puppy we have not noticed too much mouthing except for when he is really excited and they are down playing on the floor with him, but when it does happen we are quick to correct and he is very responsive to correction. He loves when the kids get down on the floor and play with him! When he gets excited his little tail will wag a mile a minute, and you can feel his heart beat racing! If there are kids in Knox’s forever home, I would suggest that they be ages 8+ and well versed with understanding proper dog play and interactions and be willing to work on training with him. Knox would love a big fenced in backyard to be able to run around and play in, he loves playing outside so much and it is probably his favourite thing to do. Knox is crate trained, so when it is bedtime or time for the humans to leave the house he happily walks into his crate and waits for a couple of treats, though sometimes you need to lead him in with the treats. Knox does initially make some noise when he is put in his crate during the day, and will yowl for a few minutes, but he does calm down and will stay quiet until you come back to let him out. When he goes in his crate at night he does occasionally let out a few yowls, but it only lasts a minute or so and then he stops. Sometimes in the morning if we are taking a while to wake up he will let out a few low howls to remind us that he is in his bed still. Because Knox does occasionally bark/whine in his crate, it is recommended that he go to a detached home so as to avoid disrupting neighbours. That being said, he will likely grow out of his yowling in the crate and it likely won’t persist for too long. Knox has been doing fairly well with his house training, but he does still have quite a ways to go to becoming fully housetrained, which will also come with time. When given the opportunity, he will pee outside whenever he has the chance, however he is still very young and still likes to pee whenever is convenient for him. He will need to be let out to pee about every 15-20 minutes during his “awake” time, to help with facilitating no accidents in the house. He is still pretty young and we are having less and less accidents each day, and this will continue to improve with his age and consistency. Overall, Knox is such a well-mannered little guy and has been an absolute dream to have. Once he gets some playtime outside he gets pretty tuckered out and is very well behaved inside. Knox will on occasion find an empty toilet paper roll to chew, but he is generally pretty good to only chew on his toys. Knox is definitely one of those dogs that loves to follow his humans around the house, need to go to a different room? Or perhaps the bathroom? You can be sure that he will wake up or stop playing so that he can join you on your adventure! Knox loves attention and if you are petting another dog, you can bet that he's going to try to push his way through to make sure that he can get in on some of the petting action too. When it comes to downtime in front of the TV, Knox thinks that the only place for him is in your place or sharing the seat with you. Whether your settling in for your favourite show, a good movie, or to play some video games, Knox will get himself comfortable on your lap and then sleep the entire way through until you’re ready to get up. Knox is a really good eater and his favourite time of the day is meal time! He is extremely food motivated which will make training a bit easier of an experience. When his food bowl is ready to go he will go and wait outside of his crate with so much excitement and energy and wait for you to put his bowl in and then he will eat it right up. Knox has been a good passenger in the car when we have gone out, he has been crated during all of his drives. He has been on just a few car rides but for all of them he was just a little vocal for the first few minutes then settles in to sleep for the remainder of the drive. Knox has been on some walks as we have been working on getting him comfortable with the leash and going out in public areas. Knox is still pretty young so she is still learning and understanding about walks, as he gets older he will require longer walks, but so far he has a great relationship with the leash and enjoys being out and about. Knox has even taken a few trips into the local hardware store and walks around like he owns the place and soaks up all the love and attention that people give him. Obedience training will be a must with Knox as it will help him develop a wonderful relationship with his new family, but also it will help him to understand what is expected of him and help set out rules in his new home. This should be followed by an advanced obedience class to get him to be the best little guy that he can be. I can’t stress enough how important advanced levels of training can be for your and your dog to help keep your dog engaged and working and building on those base foundations! Being Knox is still such a young puppy, we will only consider a home for her where someone is home or has the capability to come home throughout the day. Puppies need to be taken outside for bathroom breaks very regularly when they are small and will not be able to hold it for an 8 hour work day. We are also looking for a family or person that is fully aware of the time commitment of a puppy and the work involved. Puppies are a total joy and bring so much love and happiness into a home, but you cannot underestimate the work and time involved in raising a puppy properly. They need constant supervision while young to expedite the house training stage and to ensure they aren’t chewing on anything inappropriate. As Knox is too young to be neutered at this time, he will need to come back to our vet in Cambridge to have this done at a later date (at 6 months of age). Therefore we need a commitment from his forever family to take him to our specific vet to have him fixed when the time comes. Knox’s adoption will be conditional on this commitment. Our vet is in Cambridge and therefore we will only consider a home for him that is a reasonable distance (within an hour) from Cambridge that can accommodate a drop off and pickup there to have his surgery done. Knox is looking for his forever family with someone who will spend their time walking and playing with him, going to training class, and someone who will relax with him at the end of the day. Ideally, he would like to have a large fenced yard with another young playful dog to keep him company and run around with. He would be fine as an only dog to and get all the attention. Knox is such a beautiful, energetic and sweet natured dog and he is looking for someone who will love him forever and be active with him. This is Natalie, she was born Sept 19, 2025 and currently weighs 11lb (and growing) and she is a super unique German Shepherd/Boston terrier mix. She is mostly black with tan coloured legs and a white blaze on her chest. Natalie is a compact and solid little girl. Her fur is short and smooth. She is built more like the Boston terrier than Shepherd. She is a very lively, happy and active puppy. Natalie was part of a litter of puppies discarded by a puppy mill as unsold. Since Natalie is a very young puppy she has not had any of the negative influences often seen in puppy mill dogs so she acts like a typical 10 week old puppy. She is full of beans and likes to annoy her foster brothers who for the most part tolerate her antics. They will however put her in her place if she gets too crazy. This however rarely stops her completely and a couple minutes later she is back at it. For this reason it is important that her new family has experience with dogs and knows how to work with them to redirect unwanted behaviours. Any dogs in the home need to be puppy friendly and happy to engage with a joyful, busy spitfire of a sister. Natalie would not be suitable for first time dog owners. Natalie will need a home with access to a yard since she will grow into an active medium sized dog who needs room to run and play. Natalie has started going up stairs but not down stairs, however she will pick this up quickly as she gets older. Natalie will bark when she is playing but is not a barker for no reason. She has not mastered leash skills yet but this is something we are working on with her. As she grows Natalie will require at least two good walks daily of 45 minutes or three 30 minute walks or a walk and some vigorous backyard play. She will grow into an active adult dog that will need to be challenged both mentally and physically in order to become and remain a well-rounded dog. Natalie is very affectionate and will give little kisses. Her tail is always wagging and she is a mischievous little girl. She will make you laugh with her antics. She loves to wrestle with a stuffed dog that is as big as she is right now. She also loves to play fetch with her tennis ball. She is already learning to retrieve it and return it to you. We are teaching her to drop it once she has brought it back. Natalie is energetic and very playful and has the Boston Terrier energy and enthusiasm for all things fun. To date Natalie has had her nails trimmed and handled it without fuss. Overall Natalie’s grooming needs will be minimal. Natalie is progressing with her house training but it is a work in progress. Natalie is crate trained so that when you cannot supervise her 100% she is in her crate to keep her out of mischief and not allow her to have accidents in the home. Natalie eats all her meals in her crate. When she is put in her crate she may fuss for a couple minutes but will then settle and go to sleep our quietly play with her toys. Natalie sleeps in her crate at night and right now she usually needs out about once during the night. Although she has had the odd night where she will sleep for about 7.5 to 8 hours. We take her out and she quickly does her business and then back to bed. She is quiet in her crate at night and only whines when she needs to go out. Natalie rides in her crate when travelling in the car and she is quiet in her crate and falls asleep for the trip. She shows no signs of car sickness. Natalie has had several car rides of about 1 hour each. Natalie currently lives with three other dogs who are all smaller breed dogs, two dog-savvy cats and a couple parrots. She has shown no interest in the parrots. She likes to run at the cats and try and play with them albeit being a bit rough at times. So as long as the cats are dog savvy and have a place to escape to, she could live with a cat. She would just need further training on proper behaviour with a cat. I am sure Natalie could live with a neutered male dog but it would need to be tolerant of puppy antics and of similar size to what she will grow into. Another energetic, playful, well mannered brother would be great for Natalie to mentor off of. She could be the only dog in the home as well, as long as her people are active, busy, outdoorsy types who have the time to devote to a puppy. Puppies are a wonderful addition to any family but they are a big commitment and will need considerable work to develop them into the well-balanced adult they deserve to be. Natalie would be fine with older children (over 10). Natalie is a bit jumpy and is at the nippy stage in her development. This would be too much for young children. Older children could help with Natalie’s training and help her burn off excess energy, which would be good for helping to forge a bond. Natalie would also be fine with an active couple looking to spend time doing activities with Natalie. As Natalie is a puppy she will need to go to a home where someone is home during the day or is able to come home throughout the day to let her out and take her for a little walk and play. Natalie would not be able to hold it for an 8 hour work day. At this time she can only be left for a couple hours max during the day so anyone interested in her needs to have a schedule that suits a young puppy. Puppies are a lot of work and require dedication and time. Any family considering adopting Natalie needs to make sure she attends puppy socialization class immediately upon adoption, along with, at minimum, level one obedience classes. Natalie is a very bright puppy and has already learned the sit command. She is working on down, come and out (command to drop what she has in her mouth). She is picking up very quickly. This makes her an ideal candidate for more advanced training. To date Natalie has had all age appropriate vaccinations. She has also been tested and treated for worms and been micro chipped. Her future family will be responsible for the continuation of her vaccines and health care. Natalie will need to be returned to PDR’s vet for spaying when she reaches six months of age. This will be mandatory, so any potential adopters need to live within about an hour of Cambridge to make this feasible. She will be adopted out on a contract that mandates her return for spay. Like her name, Timida is quite a nervous and timid girl when she meets new people. With patience and treats she warms up quickly and is very affectionate and friendly. Because she is looking for a quiet, low traffic home to adjust in, it would be best if she had no young children in her new home. She is dog selective so with a proper introduction she could share her home with a respectful dog. Timida needs work building her confidence outside as the world is scary to her. Hello there, I am Jassi! I`m 57 lbs of fun and excitement. With still being a puppy, I definitely need some work and training. But fear not, this is great for bonding with my person. Work is needed on my house training and I can be a bit noisy. So its probably best for me not to hangout in an apartment. Even though I`m a puppy, someone who understands my behaviour and has experience would be a wonderful match for me. This sets me up for a big win!
