Meet VIOLETVIOLET / AGE: 9 yrs / FEMALE / BREED: GERMAN SHEPHERD and HUSKY MIX / WEIGHT: 90lbs (41kgs) / Currently fostered in WARKWORTH, ONGood with other dogs, older children and farm animals (cows and horses)NO Cats pleaseHouse trainedMajor medical concerns: NoneMeet Violet, a gentle soul with a quiet charm that’s impossible to resist. At around nine years young, Violet is gracefully stepping into her golden years and searching for a peaceful retirement home where she can be cherished as much as she’ll cherish you.Unlike most dogs, Violet doesn’t bark — she speaks. Her soft vocalizations are reserved for special moments, like mealtime, which she absolutely adores. She’s had two TPLO surgeries, so she prefers short, leisurely walks, but that doesn’t stop her from playing with her favourite squeaky toys in the yard. Her playful spirit still shines through, especially when she’s surrounded by the things she loves: treats, food, and squeaky balls.Violet is wonderfully social and carries herself with the grace of a seasoned hostess. Off-leash, she’s Miss Congeniality, getting along beautifully with other dogs and greeting people with friendly curiosity. Her personality is a lovely blend of curiosity, intelligence, and quiet affection. She’s also impeccably clean and fully house-trained, making her an easy and delightful companion. Her ideal home would be in a quiet rural or suburban setting — she’s comfortable around cows and horses, but cats and city life aren’t her cup of tea. A secure, fully fenced yard would give her the outdoor space she’s used to, and she’d love to share her days with another calm, balanced dog. Violet thrives in a mature household, preferably without young children, though older teens are just fine. She would be happiest with someone who works from home or is retired, someone who has time to share with her and is looking for a loyal companion to walk through life together. If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful friend who will fill your home with love and gentle companionship, apply to meet Violet at www.caninehaven.org/dog-application. She is waiting patiently to meet you!Spayed / Microchipped / Vaccinations up to date**PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED -https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/*

Sookie2-Year-Old Shepherd Mix Meet Sookie — the adventurous aunt of the dog world. She’s independent, curious, and always up for a stroll to see what’s going on in the neighbourhood. Her leash manners are pretty good (she just likes to lead the way sometimes), and her inner herding dog occasionally makes an appearance — so older kids would be her vibe. She’s done walks with other dogs and handles herself like the classy lady she is. Story
Meet Quiet Violet! This girl doesn't bark, so if you need a loud guard dog, you'll have to look elsewhere. Violet actually "speaks" rather than barks, and only for mealtime. Violet is searching for her retirement home as she's around 9 years young now. She does well with short walks as she's had two TPLO surgeries, but it doesn't stop her from playing with squeaky balls in the yard! Off leash, she is Miss Congeniality with other dogs and people alike. Treats, food and squeaky toys are all Violet's favourite things! She's also very clean and house trained. Violet's dreamhome wishlist: > A rural or suburban home. Violet is good with cows and horses, but not a fan of big city life. > A home with a fully fenced yard as Violet is accustomed to having her own secure outdoor space. > Preferably a home with another balanced dog. > A mature home without young children (older teens okay). > Someone who works from home or is retired to ensure Violet gets enough "me" time. > Someone who wants a lifelong companion that will cherish Violet the way she'll cherish them! Story
"ZORBA" is a German shepherd mix, about 3,5 years old and weighs aprox. 30 kg. or 66 lbs. A while ago, one of our team members needed to pull off the road to take a call from Anastasia. As luck would have it, while parked, she noticed this tiny ball of fur, curled up and shivering close to the car. He was only 65 days old, a tiny, wet and scared pup who could barely walk. After making sure that there were no siblings around, she took him to our vet and then to our sanctuary. We have been looking after him since that day. Now, he’s been fully vetted and vaccinated, micro-chipped, and neutered. We have also worked daily to fully leash train and housebreak him. "ZORBA" is a bit hesitant when meeting new people but he loosens up quickly. Once he’s gained your trust, he turns into this incredibly kind, sweet, very kissy, adorable bear. SPFG volunteers call him "BACLAVA" because he has so much sugar! He is the kind of dog that will restore your good spirits on a miserable day. He is also playful with other animals and all of his doggie friends, from the tiniest to the largest. All the pups at our sanctuary adore handsome “ZORBA”. He would make an excellent companion for any family. If interested in adopting our affectionate "ZORBA", please visit our website to fill out an application at: www.straypawsfromgreece.com

Missy Breed: German Shepherd Mix Gender: Female Weight: ~49.6 lbs Age: ~3 years Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: No Good with Kids: Yes Energy Level: Medium-High Health Concerns: Completed heartworm treatment; final injection on Feb 8, 2024 Heartworm Status: Negative Spayed/Neutered: Yes Missy’s journey began with heartbreak—abandoned in an industrial park and nearly struck by traffic, she was rescued just in time by a kind-hearted warehouse worker. Now 3 years old, this beautiful Shepherd mix is ready to find a forever home where she can thrive. Weighing just under 50 lbs, Missy is the perfect medium-large companion—athletic, affectionate, and incredibly smart. True to her Shepherd roots, she’s eager to learn, highly responsive to praise, and happiest when she’s included in everyday life. Missy has a medium-to-high energy level and would do best in a home that can provide both physical activity and mental stimulation. She’s always up for an adventure—whether it’s a walk in the park, a game of fetch in the yard, or proudly carrying around her beloved plush toys. She’s wonderful with other dogs and children, making her a great fit for an active family. However, due to her strong herding instincts, she’s not suited for a home with cats or other small animals. A secure, fenced yard where she can run and play safely is ideal. Missy recently completed heartworm treatment (Feb 2024) and is now officially heartworm-free, spayed, and in excellent health. Her resilience is inspiring, and her joyful personality remains untouched by her past. This sweet, spirited girl is looking for a home where she’ll be loved, included, and appreciated for the loyal, playful companion she is. Could you be the happy ending Missy’s been waiting for? Story
Danny, a 16 month old gentle giant with a loving heart, awaits a forever home that understands his delicate nature. In his past, trauma has left scars, but with the right environment, he can blossom into the affectionate companion he longs to be. A quiet home with a single female owner working from home, would provide Danny with the stability and comfort he needs. His present foster environment has an adult male and female. Danny is always connected to the female but bounces back and forth with the male. One day he is terrified and runs to his crate whenever the male arrives, and the next day he is licking his face and wanting scratches and loving. He is unsure of smaller humans and would be best suited in a home without children under 10-12 years old. Danny's emotional intelligence is extraordinary. He is incredibly perceptive of human emotions and can sense when someone is feeling down or anxious. This empathy makes him an exceptional companion, offering comfort and support through his gentle presence.Danny is well-trained and knows various commands and tricks having completed beginner and intermediate training. He walks well on a leash, listening attentively to his human's instructions. However, his recall is still a work in progress, though he is a quick learner and eager to please.Despite his impressive size, Danny is surprisingly playful and energetic. He loves to run and can spend hours chasing after a ball or engaging in friendly games with his foster brother. However, he is still unsure about his dog beds, having gone through several before finding a few that he feels comfortable with.Danny's love for toys is undeniable, but his black Kong is his absolute favorite. It's the only toy that can withstand his chewing prowess. While he can be cautious and nervous around men, Danny is gradually socializing well with his neighbors and friends. He is believed to be a mix of Shepherd and either Boxer or Belgian Malinois (based on his colouring), a combination that results in a large and loving dog.Danny's safe spot is his crate, and he needs unrestricted access to it at all times. He enjoys car rides, couches and beds but we are unsure if he was ever allowed on them in the past. His passive and chill demeanor makes him a delightful companion, but patience is essential as he gets to know his new surroundings and people. In the past, Danny struggled with anxiety peeing and separation anxiety. He was successful in breaking out of standard wire crates (through brute force). Once he got an escape proof crate, he seemed to have given up on his escape attempts and is quite content hanging out in his safe space While he has made significant progress, there may be days when he reverts to these behaviors. It's important to remember that he would thrive best in a larger area with a fenced-in yard and daily walks to provide him with the mental and physical stimulation he needs.Danny is neutered, up-to-date with all his shots, and on a particular supplement that his new family should continue with, as recommended by his veterinarian. He is a big love bug who enjoys fetching shoes and playing with his foster brother, though he is still learning to be mindful of his size around smaller dogs.Danny is a unique old soul who deserves a loving and patient family who will cherish him for the gentle giant he is. With the right environment and care, he will blossom into a loyal and devoted companion, filling their lives with endless love and joy.HIstory: Danny was part of the Dover Dozen, a group of 12 puppies dumped at the side of a road near Port Dover. He unfortunately spent the first 11 months of his life in a shelter. He has been fostered since March of 2024, with his foster brother Dexter (who is also available for adoption). The two of them together provide endless hours of laughter and entertainment and a dual adoption would certainly be an option.
