Meet VIOLETVIOLET / AGE: 9 yrs / FEMALE / BREED: GERMAN SHEPHERD and HUSKY MIX / WEIGHT: 90lbs (41kgs) / Currently fostered in WARKWORTH, ONGood with other dogs, older children and farm animals (cows and horses)NO Cats pleaseHouse trainedMajor medical concerns: NoneMeet Violet, a gentle soul with a quiet charm that’s impossible to resist. At around nine years young, Violet is gracefully stepping into her golden years and searching for a peaceful retirement home where she can be cherished as much as she’ll cherish you.Unlike most dogs, Violet doesn’t bark — she speaks. Her soft vocalizations are reserved for special moments, like mealtime, which she absolutely adores. She’s had two TPLO surgeries, so she prefers short, leisurely walks, but that doesn’t stop her from playing with her favourite squeaky toys in the yard. Her playful spirit still shines through, especially when she’s surrounded by the things she loves: treats, food, and squeaky balls.Violet is wonderfully social and carries herself with the grace of a seasoned hostess. Off-leash, she’s Miss Congeniality, getting along beautifully with other dogs and greeting people with friendly curiosity. Her personality is a lovely blend of curiosity, intelligence, and quiet affection. She’s also impeccably clean and fully house-trained, making her an easy and delightful companion. Her ideal home would be in a quiet rural or suburban setting — she’s comfortable around cows and horses, but cats and city life aren’t her cup of tea. A secure, fully fenced yard would give her the outdoor space she’s used to, and she’d love to share her days with another calm, balanced dog. Violet thrives in a mature household, preferably without young children, though older teens are just fine. She would be happiest with someone who works from home or is retired, someone who has time to share with her and is looking for a loyal companion to walk through life together. If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful friend who will fill your home with love and gentle companionship, apply to meet Violet at www.caninehaven.org/dog-application. She is waiting patiently to meet you!Spayed / Microchipped / Vaccinations up to date**PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED -https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/*

Story
Jack has won the hearts of our staff with his loving, warm personality. He greets us with affectionate hugs every time we enter his room, making him an absolute favorite! Jack is a laid-back guy who enjoys attention but also appreciates having his personal space when needed. He proudly shows off his new tricks and loves to strut his stuff on walks. Jack would make an excellent sidekick for car rides and adventures, always ready for a new experience by your side. Jack requires a calm, adult-only home with no other dogs or cats, as he can be reactive and aggressive towards other animals. While he is loving, he may become uncomfortable if someone invades his space when he is feeling uneasy, and this could lead to a defensive reaction. For this reason, Jack will thrive in an environment where he can have the space and time he needs to relax and feel secure. Jack is highly food motivated and has been clicker-trained, making walks a smooth and enjoyable experience. Jack has been diagnosed with a slowly progressive mobility issue as well as arthritis, he takes daily medication to manage both conditions and attends weekly rehabilitation sessions to help build strength and maintain mobility. To keep him comfortable and prevent muscle soreness, Jack should ideally live in a single-level home, where he doesn’t need to navigate stairs.

Story
Fossa is a sweet, senior gentleman whose life took an unexpected turn when his owner lost their home. Now, he's on the lookout for a loving family who can offer the stability and comfort he truly deserves. At first, Fossa can be a little anxious with new changes, but once he's settled into a routine, he becomes the most loyal and affectionate companion you could ask for. He's currently taking daily medication for anxiety, but we're optimistic that with a steady, calm environment, he can eventually be weaned off the medication. One of Fossa's most endearing qualities is his love for stuffed animals. He often carries them on walks, gently holding them in his mouth like treasured friends. His charming personality makes him an ideal match for families with children, as he's sure to bring joy and warmth into any home. Fossa would thrive in a household with a family who is committed to continuing his training and helping him build confidence. He's looking for a patient family who understands the unique needs of a senior dog. Though he's working on leash manners and managing some dog reactivity, Fossa is eager to learn and show just how wonderful he can be. Though Fossa has developed some arthritis, he's on both oral medication and supplements to help him stay comfortable and keep moving smoothly. You'd never guess he's a senior dog – he still has plenty of pep in his step! Fossa is not just looking for a place to stay – he wants a home where he can be loved, a soft bed to call his own, and a chance to spend his golden years surrounded by care and affection. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion to complete your family, Fossa just might be the perfect match.

Story
Diesel was surrendered by his previous owners due to the ongoing medical care he requires. He lives with Idiopathic Epilepsy, which necessitates daily medication to manage his seizures. Additionally, Diesel has been diagnosed with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI), a condition that affects his ability to properly digest food. To keep him healthy, he needs a daily supplement and a special gastrointestinal diet to maintain his weight and prevent digestive issues. Despite his medical needs, Diesel has been flourishing in his foster home for the past few months. His foster family reports that he has impeccable house manners and has made great strides in overcoming his separation anxiety—he now rarely whines when they leave the house. Diesel has a zest for life and loves running around outside and playing fetch. After an active day, he enjoys cuddling up and lying beside you for hours. He has integrated well with the family’s dog and cat, showing no signs of food or bed guarding. Occasionally, Diesel can be reactive to other dogs during walks, but this typically happens only if the other dog engages first. He may take some time to warm up to men and can find car rides a bit stressful, though he is improving with each journey. Diesel's affectionate nature and spirited personality make him a wonderful companion for someone ready to provide him with the care and love he deserves.
