Story
Born 7/13/21 Pepper is a female German Shepherd mix seeking a forever home. Here is a little bit about her: She’s very playful and affectionate. Pepper does great with other dogs and people. Cats are fun for a game of chase so would we recommend a cat free home. Pepper loves car rides, going to coffee shops with her foster parents, and taking walks. Pepper’s best fit home would be an active one with a securely fenced yard, and if there are kids in the home, over the age of 5. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
This beautiful shepherd girl is equal parts brains, beauty, and puppy enthusiasm. Nala is confident, affectionate, and full of life — the kind of dog who wants to be right in the middle of whatever her people are doing. She’s smart, curious, and eager to connect, with just the right balance of independence and clingy shepherd devotion. Nala loves affection, enjoys being close to her people, and has that classic shepherd presence — observant, loyal, and always ready for the next adventure. She’s still very much a puppy, which means she’s learning, growing, and figuring out the world one exciting experience at a time. HISTORY Nala was likely dumped as a puppy, as she wandered into a local farm. She had a safe place with them for about 4-6 weeks before she was turned over to HART and despite all efforts, her original owners never came forward. Nala has been in HART's care since she was about 6 months old. Nala is located in Kennewick, in Eastern Washington. We share information about our dogs in postings based in other cities to improve their chances of finding a great forever home. He is well worth a road trip, and we encourage you to come and meet her before you decide he should join your family! SOCIALIZATION, TEMPERAMENT AND TRAINING Nala is currently fostered with older kids/teens and another dog. She thoroughly enjoys having a canine playmate. Initially, she might need a slow introductions, but once she gets used to them and is comfortable, she wants to play all the time! While she is a young pup with a lot of energy, she also knows the value of a nice nap. Nala prefers to get her energy out by playing with her canine housemate or running around the yard and considers leashes to be the enemy. We are sure that with time, consistency and a lot of patience, she can be leash trained, but it has not been something she has been exposed to regularly due to weather and other factors. Nala has not spent any time around cats, and we are not sure how she would react to them. She is potty trained, crate trained, and has otherwise good house manners. Nala is around 10 months old, which means she is officially entering the doggy teenage stage—also known as the “I forgot everything I’ve ever learned but I’m still very cute” phase. Think of it as her goofy middle school era. She may test boundaries, get distracted by a leaf blowing across the yard, and have opinions about things she didn’t notice before. It’s all normal, temporary, and honestly pretty hilarious. With consistency, patience, and fun training sessions, she’ll grow right through it and come out the other side an amazing adult dog. HEALTH STATUS General info Nala is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, sterilized, and dewormed. She appears to be in good health. Once full grown, she will likely be somewhere in the 50-70 lbs. range. ADOPTION The adoption fee for Nala is $425. To apply to adopt Nala, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA/Dog, or email hearthfireART@gmail.com and request an adoption application form. HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters' privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.

Story
Bunker is a male German Shepherd born approximately 4-1-2022. Bunker is housebroken and crate trained, although he doesn’t really love it. He knows some basic commands such as sit and come, he is a work in progress with a leash. Bunker will require continued training and enrollment in basic puppy obedience to make him a good canine citizen. A home with breed experience and another canine companion would be most beneficial. He’s a very sweet boy who adores belly rubs and time with humans and canine siblings. He loves to carry around his stuffies and treats them like his baby. We do require a home with a secure 6 foot fence, we prefer a home with no children under age 5. Applications: www.mikesychance.com
