Story
Meet Corvo! Corvo is a sweet, confident 9-week-old puppy looking for his forever family! He came into our care after we rescued him from someone who was giving him away in a parking lot. Since then, he's been showered with love and has made incredible progress. We've gotten him up to date on his vaccinations, helped him reach a healthy weight, and started him on all the basics to set him up for success. Corvo is: • Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations • Crate trained • Currently learning puppy pad training • Started on basic manners and foundation training • Well socialized with other dogs and family life Over the past three weeks, Corvo has lived in our home with our family and dogs. He is affectionate, confident, curious, and eager to learn. He loves people, enjoys playing, and settles nicely in his crate. Corvo would make a wonderful addition to just about any family that's ready to continue his training, provide plenty of love, and help him grow into an amazing adult!

Story
We have had Gus since he was 8 weeks old. We are expecting our third child and can no longer provide him with the attention he deserves. He is a loving, happy, energized, dog whom we love with all our hearts but we feel it is time for him to find a new home. He is often described by others as a “gentle giant”. He is very reactive towards certain but not all dogs. We generally avoid having him socialize with other dogs but has no issues being boarded when we are away. He is protective of our home and barks at strangers walking by. We are looking to find him an owner who can love him as much as we do. An ideal owner is someone looking for a special companion who can dedicate time and attention to Gus.

Story
Kona was born into our rescue as part of a litter of 12 puppies. His mom is a Great Pyrenees / Golden Retriever mix, and his dad is a Shepherd mix. This entire litter has had exceptional temperaments and has consistently done well with other dogs and children. Kona is crate-trained and potty-trained, making him an easy transition into a home. Because of his breed mix, Kona is very intelligent and would do especially well with an experienced adopter who is comfortable continuing training and enjoys working with a smart, eager-to-learn dog. He has a strong foundation and would thrive with structure and engagement. He is microchipped and vaccinated. He is not yet altered but is waiting on his age-appropriate neuter, which will be completed by the rescue. Kona is a little nervous around new people, and he takes some time to warm up. We believe in the right calm home, this sweet boy would thrive with a family.

Story
Maxine was in a shelter in GA when I saw her photo on FaceBook. As a senior and a German Shepherd, I knew she didn't belong there. So, I made arrangements for her to be pulled and transported to me. We have been fostering her ever since. She is incredibly sweet, gentle and loving. We have certainly grown very fond of her! But then again, who wouldn’t? She seems to be comfortable with everyone she has met. The best part of her day is to just be with you, and if she can get a belly rub, even better! She is approximately eight years old and still quite agile for her age. She enjoys her three walks a day and then coming home to lounge in the backyard. She is housebroken and crate-trained and a great watch dog. She also rides well in the car, just content laying on the backseat. She is such a precious soul. We hope to find her forever home where she can share her amazing self with someone else. If you have any questions about Maxine, please email me at aff0403@msn.com

Story
This is Mr. max. He is an 8 year old shepherd mix. I have had him since he was 8 weeks old. He is an amazing dog that loves people and playing outside. He is a high anxious dog and only does well around animals once he has gotten to know them. He actually lives with another dog but is very hesitant with meeting a new dog. He loves large open fields with a ball. Somewhere he can run around and do his own thing. He loves the water and the beach, hikes, really anything outside. I typically keep him away from dog parks as it is just not a great fit for a dog with anxiety. I am looking to rehome him as we will be having a kid soon and he isn’t always the easiest to deal with around children. He has never bitten anyone but he will let you know if you are in his personal space. He has been the best dog over the years and I would love to find a perfect fit for him.

Story
Wren is a 3 year old German Shepherd. He’s a fantastic dog who is incredibly loving and loyal. He’s nervous around strangers and new situations but it doesn’t take him too long to get comfortable and bond with new people. He loves to run and play at home. At the dog park he will never leave your side. He likes to cuddle and wake you up by licking your face. He’s a big softy at heart but when he feels there’s a potential threat towards his owner he will bark to try to scare it off. If barking has failed he’ll run back to his owner with his ears back afraid.

Story
Meet Mahogany, a sweet, affectionate girl who`s ready to trade shelter life for a cozy couch and a family to call her own. Although she arrived as a stray, Mahogany gives every indication that she`s lived in a home before. She appears to be potty-trained, already knows `sit` and `shake,` and has house manners that suggest she was once someone`s companion.Mahogany is a smart girl who is a whiz at puzzle games, but her absolute favorite thing is stuffed animals! She knows how to walk on a leash but can pull a little when excited. She has a love of the chase so would do best in a home without cats. She absolutely adores people and loves being close to her favorite humans. Because of that, Mahogany does experience some separation anxiety and will bark when left alone. Her ideal home is one with another dog (she is much more comfortable with another dog and loves her canine friends), or with someone who is home most of the day and can help her build confidence through patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement. For this reason, she would not be the best fit for apartment living unless her adopter is home nearly all the time. She is currently working on her crate training, and is doing very well!Mahogany does well with other dogs and adores to play! When she`s excited, Mahogany can tolerate calm dogs and adjust to play rowdy with high energy dogs, and she can be a bit bouncy herself, so a home without very small children would be best to avoid accidental knockovers during her happy greetings. If you`re looking for a dog who already knows some basic manners and is bursting with joy and excitement every day, Mahogany may be your match! She is currently located at our offsite location in Ravenel- the main shelter was too chaotic for her. If interested in meeting her, please email us at TransitionCenter@charlestonanimalsociety.org to set up an appointment.
