Alvey was picked up by the Smith County, TX Animal Shelter on 9/1/22. We picked him up on 9/30/22, he was already neutered, estimated to have been born in 2012, and weighed 68 pounds on 4/1/23. Alvey is deaf, and had an ear infection when we picked him up that was treated. We thought maybe he could hear again after he was treated, but he is still deaf, so he will require a fenced yard. He loves sleeping on dog beds, loves to be pet, is good with other dogs, good on a leash, and is crate trained. We don't know if he is house trained. He happily walks fast to me when he sees me, to get some attention. He would love to spend his last few years in a home that he could give a lot of love to. $25 adoption fee, since donations were made for his vet care, and he was already neutered.November 6, 2024, 12:13 am

Ricky was at the Smith County Animal Shelter too long, so we tagged him. He is a sweet dog, loves people, good on a leash, house training is unknown, cats is unknown, and good with other dogs. He is estimated to have been born in July 2022, weighing 46 pounds as of 9/11/23, and was neutered on 9/11/23. $25 adoption fee, since donations have been made for his veterinarian care.November 6, 2024, 12:13 am

I had a few adoptions at that time, so I had space to tag some dogs from the shelter. I asked who had been there the longest, and needed out. Immediately I was told Louise and Sarge. Louise has joined what I call my yard dogs that get to run the fenced in area of our property instead of going in a large dog pen, and goes in a crate at night. She barked a lot at first and doesn't always like to go in the crate, but is doing much better now. She still gets anxious to get out in the morning. She is good on a leash, good around adults and children, rides well in a vehicle, LOVES to be pet while licking my arm, and LOVES getting in our water tubs. She does not climb fencing or dig under fencing. Louise was picked up on FM 2767 and Greenwood on 3/7/18 weighing 73 pounds, heartworm positive, but as of 5/28/22 she is heartworm negative using Ivermectin for slow kill, estimated to be 6 years old in 2018, and was not doing well being in the kennels. I had her spayed on 4/14/18. Louise's adoption fee is $25, since a donation was made for her care. November 6, 2024, 12:13 am

Stout is a goofy boy that's had trouble finding his spot in the pecking order. After several months with an experienced foster/trainer, he's done so much better! Will need reinforcement and an alpha (human) owner. He's great with people/kids, good with female dogs and males that don't push for dominance. He doesn't bother cats. He's a great dog, very well mannered, rides in cars well, loves to go, crate and house trained. Foster to adopt can be a great scenario to get to know Stout and see if he's the perfect fit.

Percy is 5 years old, Ive had him since he was 8 weeks old. He's a sweet, talkative, goofy cuddle bug. He also however likes his personal space and alone time, he will let you know. He loves his lamb chops and treat toys. He's a runner, he'll beat you every time. It takes him a minute to warm up to new people but a few treats will do the trick. He's not fond of car rides, loud noises, or the rain. But he gives a mean high five, knows basic commands and is kennel & house trained. He does have a medical issue that requires medication. He has food aggression and separation anxiety. A bite history that is related to his personal space issue and food aggression. He will need a single person or a couple household with no kids or other pets. He needs someone who has experience working with dogs that have behavioral issues. A person with lots of time, the space and patience to work with him. Unfortunately my living situation changed and I cannot bring him with me.
