Story

Douglas is a very good boy. Great with children and other dogs. He is gentle, silly and truly the sweetest dog. He loves having his booty patted and is a big kisser. He is a senior dog but he is in marvelous shape. We go hiking with him regularly and he loves a good walk. He does not have any medical problems and we haven’t seen any signs of arthritis. Here’s the issue… in his older age he has become deathly afraid of thunderstorms. We used to keep him in a mesh crate until he discovered an ability to escape his confinement. In his terror he attempts to escape the house. I cannot always be home during thunderstorms to calm him down or give him necessary medications and he has begun chewing at the door to escape. In a last attempt to find a suitable option, I purchased a gorgeous metal crate (not one of those flimsy wire ones.) He chewed it till he bled and somehow broke the bars. We love him, and we don’t want him hurting because we can’t care for him properly.

Mr. Cheddar came to us from a rescue transfer where the rescue team was much more familiar with adopting out pitties and pittie mixes and asked us for some help finding this young German Shepherd boy a home! He is a fun and friendly boy who loves everyone he meets! Cheddar is kennel trained and appears to be housetrained. He is up to date on shots and preventatives and has already been neutered. However, Cheddar is heartworm positive and beginning treatment soon. He is still healing from his neuter, but once that's complete, he will be tested with other dogs. Cheddar can be adopted on a veterinary care contract to ensure he finishes his treatment, but that means he can get into his forever home as soon as we find them!

All 4 sweet babies are black with tan and white and are growing up so fast! NOTE: $100.00 of Tripp's adoption fee has been sponsored; his adoption fee is now $150.00. Meet Tripp (short for Tripod), a three-legged German Shepherd mix, about 5 years old and 55lbs. Tripp was hit by a car and his best outcome was to have his left front leg amputated. But don’t let his disability or age fool you, Tripp is a puppy at heart! He is silly and playful and runs around the farm helping out with chores. When the work is done you will find Tripp snoozing on the couch. Wherever you are, that’s where he wants to be. He has the cutest squeal when he's excited to see you! Tripp gets along with my young son as well as our two female dogs (with proper introductions). He has not been cat tested but does show some prey drive with my chickens, although he will listen when I tell him no. Tripp is leash-, potty- and crate-trained. He is a very good boy looking for a home to be so spoiled in.  ASVT does not have a facility; all of our adoptable pets live in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted. I’m looking to rehome my beloved dog Zeus. He will be 2 in July. He is kennel and potty trained. He is a German shepherd mix, his DNA swab results are attached to photos. Zeus DOES NOT get along with cats and that’s why I’m looking to rehome him. I’m expecting a baby, and the cats safe room now has to become a nursery so the cats need to be able to roam freely. Due to my work schedule he is also in the kennel more than he should be and that isn’t fair to him. He is loving, playful, high energy, and good with kids. I have a 4 and 8 year old that love him dearly and he plays well with them. He also gets along with other dogs- big and small.
