It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Thank you for choosing rescue!!

Story
Hi everyone! I am back here because my dad moved where he can no longer keep me. I was used to spending most of my time outdoors, I get very stressed if left indoors alone. The only way I like cats is as a snack! I do get along with other dogs. Would like a home with no cats and someone who can spend lots of time with me. I do seem to like women more than men. I also am good at climbing fences, so I do need to be watched while I'm outside. Born 12/4/2018.

For some reason I found myself lost and roaming about. A nice lady found me and took me to her place where I would be safe. Unfortunately she couldn't keep me so the nice folks here took me in. Looking for a furever home. I'm high energy! Neutered, current on vaccines and Heartworm tested negative.

Story
Hi! I'm Frankie! I'm a 2-year-old German Shepard-Husky mix. I was found as a stray and brought to the rescue for my safety. We do not know how I do with cats or children as I am a stray, but the workers here would recommend kids 12 and up due to my high energy and probably no cats. They would also recommend either a single dog home for me or we would need to be very selective as I believe I'm dog selective at this time as well. I am up to date on my vaccines, spayed and will be microchipped before I leave the rescue to go to mmy furever home!

Story
Foxy is roughly a year and a half old. She weighed about 65lbs at her last vet visit. She is so sweet and full of energy. She can be spastic and hilarious at times. She loves to run, play, and explore. She and her littermate Ella do not really get along for more than 10-20 minutes, but she is good with my other dogs. She will DEFINITELY need a fenced in yard and some training. She likes going on walks wearing her harness. She loves attention and belly rubs! She is also crate trained. I’m not sure what she is mixed with, but she will howl when there are sirens. We found her on the side of the road Dec. 2022 along with her mom and 3 siblings. I’m including a picture of poor momma. You can tell she definitely put her pups first. Animal control could not fit all of them in the truck, so we offered to take 2 of the pups home and work with a rescue to find them a home. Here we are over a year later with no luck. Foxy needs a good loving home that can give her the attention she deserves.
