Story
Kai is 1 1/2. We got him at 6 months old from a buddy that was getting stationed over seas. He turned out to be reactive, we have been working with him as best as we can. He has his moments, with patience once he meets somebody he is then fine and used to them. He is extremely smart, toy & treat driven. Loves to play and cuddle. With our jobs & space we are in now, we have came to the decision it’s best and most fair for Kai to get re-homed to someone that has the time and space for him. He has a few dog friends in our neighborhood but has been very selected to just those dogs. He has never been around children or cats. He is house trained & knows a lot of tricks. High energy. He would thrive in a house with a yard or land and with someone that can work him everyday. We go out 1-2 times a day just for commands/tricks (with a toy, fetch). Sometimes a long walk. Bathroom breaks through out, sometimes only being morning and evening because of work. Reach out if you have any ?’s!!!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gracie is a very sweet sable girl with lots of wavy fur and floofy pants.  She is 5 months old and we just got her and her brother from a shelter as an owner surrender.  Gracie is a bit timid and watchful with a quiet demeanor but her fun side is starting to show.  She is getting comfortable joining in the yard romping with the 2 resident GSDs but in the house still wants to be my shadow.  We don't think she has had exposure to much of anything (stairs, tile floors, walking in a neighborhood), and just learned to wear a collar and leash.  Gracie is transitioning to her new environment like a champion.  She did great in the car during her transport and is quiet in her crate.  She developed some Demodex her last day or so at the shelter so her muzzle and eyes  are a little puffy and have some dry skin and missing fur right now.  We took her to the vet immediately upon arrival for treatment - she was such a trooper, the staff loved her and she gave them gentle licks.   If you are an approved adopter and want to find out more about this sweet sable girl with so much potential, please contact her foster at kbkief4@gmail.com.  She is fostered in Sterling, VA.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 29, 2026, 3:22 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Phoebe is a young adult female with a playful spirit and a gentle heart. She can be a bit shy when first meeting new people, but she warms up quickly with a little patience and understanding.   Once comfortable, Phoebe truly shines. She loves to play and thrives in the company of other dogs, making her an excellent candidate for a home with a friendly canine companion. She’s an active girl who would do best with a family that enjoys hiking, walking, or running—she’s always ready for her next adventure.   Phoebe knows some basic commands and is eager to learn, but she will benefit from continued training to help build her confidence and skills. While she’s not overly affectionate right away, she is learning and shows her connection by wanting to be near her people—she’ll happily keep you company throughout your day.   Phoebe has all the makings of an incredible companion. With the right family willing to give her a little time to settle in, she will blossom into a loyal and well-rounded dog.   If you’re looking for a fun, active, and devoted addition to your family, Phoebe could be the perfect fit.   Approved adopters can email vgsrfosterkim@gmail.com if interested in meeting her. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 29, 2026, 3:22 pm

Story
Bella is a 4-1/2 year old german shepherd, she is crate trained, house trained and knows basic commands.  Bella loves to run and play fetch with balls or sticks.  She gets along with cats, older children preferred and meet and greet with other dogs will be required. Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match.   The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about her likes, dislikes, and little quirks.  The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. ##2694391##
