Rusty is 3 years old and belonged to our son. Our son moved out a year ago with promises to come back for Rusty, but now he doesn’t come home at all. We are moving into a residence where we will not be able to take him. Rusty is approximately 40-45 pounds. He is 75% German Shepherd/25% Golden Retriever. He came from a litter of puppies our Golden Shepherd had. He is very sweet, loves to chase cars (only those entering his driveway), and he is extremely loyal. He will need lots of love to be able to trust you. We tried rehoming him once and the family stopped at a store on their way back home, and when they opened their door, Rusty bolted. They messaged me to tell me they couldn’t find him and told me where they lost him. That was over 2 hours away. I drove the 2+ hours and within seconds of stepping out of my van, Rusty came out of hiding and we brought him back home. I do wish we could keep him, but it is just not in the cards, unfortunately.

He’s a smart boy who thrives with routine and consistency.He’s been around children ranging from 1 to 13 years old and has done great with them — just remember, he is still a puppy, so continued guidance and supervision will be important as he grows.Hershey is also comfortable around large dogs. He’s currently living with an 8-month-old Pit mix (75–80 pounds) and a 7-month-old Great Dane mix (84 pounds) and isn’t intimidated by their size at all. He enjoys canine companionship and would likely do well with a playful dog sibling.It’s believed that Hershey may be a German Shepherd/Lab mix, so he will likely grow into a medium-to-large-sized dog.
