Story
His foster wrote: I fostered Simba for 10 days and he was a perfect gentleman once he felt safe with me. It has been my privilege to foster him. He quickly became part of the family. Yes, he will whine and bark when he is alone or feels afraid. While with me, he became happy in his crate with the door open and often sleeps in there. I tell him to go get in his house and then I give him a treat. The whining and barking came to a stop after the first two days. He is extremely smart, handsome, sweet, loving, and likes other dogs. Simba knows how to sit at the door to go out or come in. He did great with potty training. He went out in that horrible weather like a champ. I took him out in the SUV every day so he would get acclimated to riding in the car. And lastly, he has just the right amount off energy and up for any adventure. I will miss him.I am spayed or neutered, vaccinated as appropriate for my age, microchipped and heartworm tested. Come meet me! My adoption fee is $249.If you are interested in adopting me, please complete our online Adoption Application at https://rvspca.org/adopt/application/The Roanoke Valley SPCA offers adoptions by appointments Tuesday - Saturday between Noon and 7pm. Story
Kiara is a GSD/Lab mix who is just beginning to learn that life doesnt have to be about fighting for food or never getting to go outside. This sweet girl has already been through more than any puppy should, but shes discovering what safety, love, and comfort feel like. She has a playful side but is still very timid. Kiara lives for cuddles and is slowly learning that toys can actually be fun as her confidence grows. With patience and a gentle home, this special girl is going to absolutely shine. Watching Kiara learn how to just be a puppy is truly something special. *Kiara requires an owner that must be willing to continue Kiara's training with a licensed trainer upon adoption. Kiara arrived at our rescue extremely shut down. With time, shes learning the world isnt so scary and will do best with an understanding, patient owner.* Adoption fees are $350 unless otherwise stated. Senior dog adoption fees are $200. 100% of adoption fees are put back into the rescue so that another lonely and neglected dog can be rescued. We are grateful for your interest. Upon approval, the adoption fee is non-refundable. The fee includes the following: de-worming; heartworm, lymes, ehrlichia and anaplasmosis testing; all vaccinations including rabies; flea and tick treatment, microchipping and spay/neuter. Please contact us if you have questions about our adoptable dogs, we would love to talk to you!

Story
Bear is a handsome German Shepherd with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. Hes wonderfully sweet, just on the shy side, and truly blossoms when given time, patience, and kindness. Bear loves people and does well with other dogs, making him a great companion in the right home. Hes already got some great life skills under his belt he is housebroken, crate trained, and rides well in the car, so hes ready to settle into a routine. Because Bear can be timid in new situations, he will need a patient, understanding adopter who is willing to let him move at his own pace. Continued guidance will be important, and his adoption will require working with a Certified professional trainer to help build his confidence and help him reach his full potential. With consistency, gentle encouragement, and love, Bear will make an incredibly loyal and devoted companion. Hes just waiting for someone willing to see the amazing dog he already is Adoption fees are $350 unless otherwise stated.
