Story
Kevin is a cuddle bug but also is the perfect dog to bring on a hike. He was unfortunately tied to a tree for the first 9 months of his life and it has permanently curved his spine and bowed his hind legs. He has seen a veterinary orthopedic specialist and has had extensive X-rays done. They have said his X-rays look great and that he will live a full normal life. He loves treats and the dog park.

She is a little shy at first but once she warms up to you she is sweet heart, she does have a little energy, but she is a young girl. She needs some work on the leash. She's good with other dogs. Come meet her during our weekend adoption events held from 10-4pm! The adoption fee for this dog is $475. This fee DOES INCLUDE spay/neuter and microchip. We are proud to partner with the following veterinarians who offer a free first exam for your animal, exclusively for HT adopters: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Sunshine Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals. Additionally, any VCA hospital will cover illnesses up to $250 at no cost to any Homeward Trails adopter. Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. Story
Hope was adopted by my family in the summer of 2021. She acclimated well to us, attaching to Mom very quickly. Unfortunately, a few months after her adoption, Hope was diagnosed with EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency), a common aliment in GSD. This diagnosis compounded with other factors led to the difficult decision to rehome Hope. She is currently living with another dog, and they get along great. When Hope sees or interacts with another dog, she isn't so happy to see the other dog. Hope also lived with a cat; but when she sees cats out in the neighborhood, she lunges at them. We also have 2 young kids and Hope chooses not to interact with the children. She often runs and hides when the kids are around. She'd do best in a home with older or no children. She is really a sweet dog and would make a great addition to your family!

Ten puppies were brought to a shelter by their "owner" in the Rio Grande Valley to be euthanized. SSR saved the puppies before being put to sleep due to no one wanting them. The puppies will travel to Virginia where they will be available for adoption once they've received the age appropriate vaccinations.  The puppies in the litter are: Dumpling, Lumpia, Ziti, Challah, Dosa, Gnocchi, Pita, Cannoli, Baguette, and Orzo. They are named after some volunteers' favorite breads and pastas! Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  If you are an approved adopter and are interested in this dog, please let your case worker know. If you are not yet an approved adopter but are interested, please complete an adoption application!
