Story
Hershey is in a FOSTER home while he waits for his FOREVER home. If you’re interested in learning more about Hershey, please contact PRAS-FOSTER@NNVA.GOV to inquire about him.Looking to add the cutest Hershey-colored baby to your family? Well look no further — our sweet foster pup Hershey (yes, like the candy kisses!) is ready to find his fur-ever home.Hershey is doing wonderfully with potty training. As long as he’s taken out about every two hours, he keeps his kennel clean with no accidents. He’s a smart boy who thrives with routine and consistency. He’s been around children ranging from 1 to 13 years old and has done great with them — just remember, he is still a puppy, so continued guidance and supervision will be important as he grows.Hershey is also comfortable around large dogs. He’s currently living with an 8-month-old Pit mix (75–80 pounds) and a 7-month-old Great Dane mix (84 pounds) and isn’t intimidated by their size at all. He enjoys canine companionship and would likely do well with a playful dog sibling. It’s believed that Hershey may be a German Shepherd/Lab mix, so he will likely grow into a medium-to-large-sized dog. He already shows signs of being active and energetic, even as a young pup, so he would thrive with a family who enjoys walks, hikes, jogging, running, or other adventures.Beyond his playful side, Hershey is a total cuddle bug. He loves being close to his people and aims to please. He catches on to commands quickly and is incredibly smart — the kind of puppy who truly wants to learn and make you proud.

Story
Bonnie and her brother, Sammy, are a delightful pair of 10-year-old dogs seeking a warm and loving home together. These two have spent their entire lives together, cherished by their previous owner who unfortunately can no longer care for them due to health issues. Bonnie and Sammy's affectionate nature and strong bond make them a perfect pair for a family looking to add some love and joy to their household. These medium-sized dogs weigh just under 50 pounds each and possess a unique mix of breeds. Their mother is a German Shepherd, while their father is thought to be a Bearded Sheep Dog/Wheaton Terrier mix. This combination gives them a charming appearance and a friendly, approachable demeanor. An ideal home for Bonnie and Sammy would be one with a fenced-in yard where they can run, play, and get the exercise they love. Both dogs are incredibly friendly and seek out human companionship. Their gentle and affectionate personalities make them wonderful companions for families, singles, or anyone who has the time and love to share. Keeping Bonnie and Sammy together would be ideal, as their bond is strong, and they bring out the best in each other. If you're ready to welcome not one but two loving companions into your life, consider adopting Bonnie and Sammy. They promise endless love, companionship, and loyalty to their new family.

Story
Willa is an 8-year-old black German Shepherd and Lab mix with a calm, steady presence. She came from the same property as #EmptyHouseMax / #Max0175, but they were owned separately. Willa belonged to the mother, while Max belonged to the son. When Willa’s owner was placed in a nursing home due to dementia, the situation changed quickly. It became clear the son could not properly care for her or the other dogs. Willa had been part of a large pack and grew up used to living alongside other animals. She gets along well with everyone and carries herself with the kind of easy temperament that makes daily life uncomplicated. Local street feeders stepped in and got her to safety, but she continued to be overlooked. Older black dogs often are. She is the type of dog people say they want: settled, social, and past the chaos of youth. They just do not always notice her. She is fully vetted, wonderful with cats and other dogs, and ready for a quiet retirement home. Right now, she spends her days outside and comes in at night. She is being brought into SSR with the hope of finding a true soft landing, a home where she is part of the household and not on the margins of it. Willa will be fostered in Springfield, Missouri. She is ready for a home that wants a steady companion who will fit in, settle quickly, and ask for little more than consistency and care. To see more on Facebook, search #Willa0186.
