As long as he’s taken out about every two hours, he keeps his kennel clean with no accidents. He’s a smart boy who thrives with routine and consistency.He’s been around children ranging from 1 to 13 years old and has done great with them — just remember, he is still a puppy, so continued guidance and supervision will be important as he grows.Hershey is also comfortable around large dogs. He’s currently living with an 8-month-old Pit mix (75–80 pounds) and a 7-month-old Great Dane mix (84 pounds) and isn’t intimidated by their size at all. He enjoys canine companionship and would likely do well with a playful dog sibling.It’s believed that Hershey may be a German Shepherd/Lab mix, so he will likely grow into a medium-to-large-sized dog. He already shows signs of being active and energetic, even as a young pup, so he would thrive with a family who enjoys walks, hikes, jogging, running, or other adventures.Beyond his playful side, Hershey is a total cuddle bug. Willa is an 8-year-old black German Shepherd and Lab mix with a calm, steady presence. She came from the same property as #EmptyHouseMax / #Max0175, but they were owned separately. Willa belonged to the mother, while Max belonged to the son. When Willa’s owner was placed in a nursing home due to dementia, the situation changed quickly. It became clear the son could not properly care for her or the other dogs. Willa had been part of a large pack and grew up used to living alongside other animals. She gets along well with everyone and carries herself with the kind of easy temperament that makes daily life uncomplicated. Local street feeders stepped in and got her to safety, but she continued to be overlooked. Older black dogs often are. She is the type of dog people say they want: settled, social, and past the chaos of youth. They just do not always notice her. She is fully vetted, wonderful with cats and other dogs, and ready for a quiet retirement home. Right now, she spends her days outside and comes in at night. She is being brought into SSR with the hope of finding a true soft landing, a home where she is part of the household and not on the margins of it. Willa will be fostered in Springfield, Missouri.
