Story
Shadow is a sweet, resilient five year old boy who has endured more than any dog should. He was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico and brought to Tampa Bay, where he finally experienced the comfort of a loving home. But after a crosscountry move triggered severe anxiety, he was surrendered, leaving his heart broken once again. For a moment, things seemed to turn around. Shadow was adopted by another family and began to settle in. But when his vision started to fade, his family chose not to seek answers and returned him to us. He came back overweight, with swollen ankles, and carrying the weight of yet another loss. We soon learned that Shadow has a thyroid condition. With medication, a healthy diet, and proper care, he is already improving and showing glimpses of the happy, playful pup he truly is. His vision changes may even be connected to this condition, and he is undergoing further evaluation to give him the best chance possible. Through every setback, Shadow has remained the same at his core: a loving, affectionate dog who simply wants to be close to his people. He deserves a calm, patient home where he can continue healing and finally be cherished for the incredible companion he is. Shadow has been let down too many times, but we believe his forever family is out there. Please help us find them. Share his story. Open your heart. This brave boy deserves the soft landing he has always needed.         ##2177020##

Story
Henry is an approximately 2-year-old, 53-pound German Shorthaired Pointer who came from the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center after being found as a stray.Henry is an exceptionally sweet, affectionate, and gentle boy. He loves being near people, rests his head in your lap for attention, and has been friendly with everyone he has met. He is smart, learns quickly, settles calmly on his bed, and has already made great progress with leash walking, stairs, and house training. He has shown no aggression.I am currently providing Henry with a temporary home while looking for the right permanent family. Due to a new job and unexpected extended travel this summer, I cannot provide the long-term consistency he deserves.Henry would thrive with an active, loving family familiar with sporting breeds. His new crate, bed, harness, leash, food, and treats will all go with him.Henry will be ready to go home on June 29.The adoption fee is simply to cover all the goodies that will go home with him.

Story
Calling all our pointer lovers! How about a pocket pointer?! Our sweet German Shorthaired Pointer momma Hattie found herself at a very rural county shelter where, after nearly two months, she was given a euthanasia deadline. We are so thankful we were told about her, and we jumped at the opportunity to save her life! Hattie is estimated to be between 2-4 years old and was definitely a mother at some point in her life. She is the ultimate pocket pointer - a shorty weighing just under 40lbs. She is underweight and although she has gained some since she’s been with us, she still could use another 5lbs or so. Hattie is house trained and crate trained, but we don’t think she’d ever been on a leash before she joined the FSDA family. Thankfully she’s small, but she definitely needs an adopter willing to work with her on leash manners. She is great with other dogs, but cats and other small animals are a hard no for her. She has a very typical GSP prey drive and loves to hunt the rabbits in her foster family’s backyard, and when she is in hunt mode she has a tendency to turn her ears off. Hattie loves people and is a true Velcro GSP, so any potential adopters need to be prepared to have a shadow everywhere they go. Hattie is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and ready to go home. She is fostered in Charlotte County, Florida and her adoption fee is $400. If you think Hattie is the right Velcro addition to your family, please send us an adoption application at the link below or email us at info@flsportingdogalliance.org for more info! https://www.flsportingdogalliance.org/dog-adoption

EXERCISE NEEDS: Daily Workout EASE OF TRAINING: Eager FRIENDLINESS WITH PEOPLE: Bashful PLAYFULNESS: Amateur FRIENDLINESS WITH DOGS: Social LEASH MANNERS: Pulls Sometimes Meet Legend, a 3-year-old mixed breed with a heart of gold and a playful spirit. Originally adopted as a puppy in April 2022, Legend was returned in February 2025 due to a housing change, and he’s now looking for his forever home. Though he’s a little shy when you first meet him, once Legend opens up, he’s the sweetest, most affectionate companion you could ask for. With his playful nature and gentle personality, he’s ready to find a family who will give him the time and love he needs to truly shine. He is a dog who knows his own mind. Unlike some dogs that can be 'won over' with time and treats, his discomfort with certain people is relatively fixed. He needs a family that won't pressure him to interact with strangers or force him into social situations where he is showing anxiety and cause him stress. What He Loves: Playtime: Legend is full of energy and absolutely loves to play! Whether it’s fetching a ball, playing with toys, or just running around, he’s always up for some fun. Affection: Once Legend feels comfortable with you, he’s a total cuddle bug. He loves to snuggle and will happily shower you with love and attention. Exploration: Legend is curious and enjoys new experiences, especially when it means he gets to spend time with his favorite people. What He Needs: Legend is seeking a calm, loving environment where he can feel safe and comfortable as he continues to grow into the confident, playful dog he’s meant to be. Looking For: A loving family who will give Legend the space to settle in and the time to build trust. He’s looking for a home where he can enjoy plenty of playtime, curl up in a warm, fluffy bed, receive and give endless affection, and companionship as he blossoms into the wonderful dog he is.
