Story
Being a German Shorthair & Hound mix, you can imagine that ol' Oscar is a lover of the outdoors! This sweet boy was born in May of 2015 and is still looking for a place to call his own. Oscar enjoys being around people, especially ladies, but he understands what it's like to need some space: your time, my time, and our time! Oscar experiences anxiety and because of this, boundaries are important to him. When his anxiety is low, Oscar is a goofy, playful boy who likes to chase balls, sticks, and rabbits. He loves, loves, loves long walks with plenty of time to let his hound nose get some exercise, and lots of exercise helps work off that extra energy that can make this handsome boy nervous! Because of his love for exploration, Oscar will need a fenced-in yard to keep him close to home.  Oscar is not kennel trained, but is totally fine being left to lounge around the house while you're away.  He's also housetrained, so no worries about that business! Oscar is a very smart dog who knows "sit", "stay", "lay down", "leave it" and he also knows that when he follows these fun words, he gets really yummy treats! Oscar's ideal home will be with an active person/couple who love to explore nature, just like he does, and who will love him like family while respecting his need for boundaries and independence! The suggested adoption donation for Oscar is $315.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.  If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter.  We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs.  If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
3-And-A-Half-Years' Old Neutered Male German Shorthair Pointer/Pyranese Mix Dog He is very sweet and smart but high energy like a Jack Russell Terrier, and he looks like a giant one. He also resembles a Brittany Spaniel. He is chipped and neutered and has received monthly Heartworm and flea & tick prevention since he has been in my care for the last year and a half. He is current on vaccinations and is licensed in Omaha through NHS. Sodapop needs a yard and a patient, loving person to dote on him. Please let anyone know who may be interested that he is available. Background: Sodapop was retrieved from a rural home that was sheltering 8 dogs they said had been rescued from a hoarding situation. Veterinarians estimated his age to be around 2 years old in November/December 2024. Sodapop is in good shape now. He is ready to find his forever family.

Update 06/09/26: Foster found! Stay tuned for updates!   Have you ever wanted a dog with the physique of a professional athlete and the decision-making skills of a golden retriever puppy? Meet Flannery. This 1-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer arrived as a stray, so we don't know much about his past. What we do know is that he's a friendly, social guy who has been doing great in dog play groups and seems to love everyone he meets, but is not looking to be friends with any cats.  Flannery comes equipped with: Impressive pointer muscles A permanent smile Occasional tongue-out derp mode An enthusiasm that cannot be overstated He's the definition of a young GSP: active, outgoing, playful, and always ready to see what's happening next. Whether he's showing off his athletic build or making a completely ridiculous face for the camera, Flannery keeps everyone entertained. Flannery is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. If you've got room for a fun-loving young pointer who can look like a fitness model one minute and a complete goofball the next, Flannery would love to crash at your place while he waits for his forever family. Story
Lexie is a 5-year-old spayed female German Shorthaired Pointer who weighs about 55 lbs. She is affectionate, playful, and full of classic GSP personality. Her foster family describes her as a sweet girl who loves being close to her people and has quickly made herself comfortable in the home, including sleeping under the covers “like a proper GSP.” Lexie loves kids and has happily soaked up attention and snuggles from visiting teenagers in foster care. She forms strong attachments to her people and prefers to stay close by wherever they are going. She is an active, bird obsessed pointer who thoroughly enjoys patrolling the backyard and chasing birds. Her foster family has already started working on long line training and helping her learn how to relax and settle instead of constantly being “on duty.” She is smart, engaged, and very much enjoys having something to do. Lexie currently lives with other GSPs in foster care. She can be somewhat cautious about other dogs getting too close initially and is still adjusting to new canine relationships, but she is already making progress and becoming more comfortable. Historically, she has done well with dogs in neutral settings like dog parks. Her foster family is continuing to work on confidence building and positive interactions. She has also shown some mild resource guarding behaviors toward the adult woman in the foster home. At this point, it has not been severe, and her foster family has already begun actively working on it. Lexie will likely do best with adopters who understand dog body language and are comfortable continuing structure and training as she settles into a new environment. Lexie is crate trained and accustomed to being kenneled overnight and during away times. Like many dogs experiencing major transitions, she initially showed some mild stress related to separation and change, including shakiness and loose stools, but this improved after only a few days. She knows several commands, including sit, wait, fetch, and drop it. She can be a little mischievous at times and has discovered that counters and tables occasionally contain treasures worth investigating. Overall, Lexie is a loving, energetic dog who wants to be included as part of the family and will thrive with people who appreciate the fun, loyal, and sometimes goofy nature of the breed. If she sounds like a good fit for your home, complete the adoption form here: ADOPT ME *Please be sure to read the adoption information page on our website before applying for a dog. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 9, 2026, 3:36 pm
