Story
This 8-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer is the definition of calm and collected. He came to us through no fault of his own, and he’s been showing off his mellow, easygoing personality ever since. He’s a total pro when it comes to grooming. Baths, nail trims, ear cleaning, all handled like a champ. Toys aren’t really his thing, but treats, cozy beds, and a comfy spots absolutely are. This sweet guy isn’t high energy or demanding; he’s happiest just hanging out, enjoying a soft bed, and soaking up quiet companionship. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key friend who’ll be content simply being near you, he’s ready to bring his calm, loving presence into your home.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Zelle is a stunning, approximately one-year-old German Shorthair Pointer blend (according to her previous owner) who is actively searching for a place to call her own. She is an incredibly smart and motivated girl with a keen desire to learn and engage. She already knows a few basic manners like 'sit' and 'lay down' and is enthusiastic about mastering many more tricks, making her an exciting partner for anyone interested in positive reinforcement training! This energetic girl absolutely loves going for walks and thrives on physical and mental stimulation. She would be a fantastic, devoted companion for an active individual or family who enjoys spending time outdoors and can provide her with plenty of opportunities for exercise and adventure. Zelle came into our care because she was not compatible with the other female dogs in her previous home. To ensure she can be the happiest, most relaxed version of herself, her previous family thought she would do best in an only-pet home. She has also shown us pretty quickly at Safe Haven that cats and Zelle definitely would not be ideal.  She deserves to be the queen of the castle and receive all the attention and focus from her human family, which we know will allow her loving and clever personality to truly shine! The great news is that Zelle is fully prepared to jump right into her new life! She is up-to-date on all of her vaccinations, she was previously spayed, and has been microchipped. So if you are looking for a loyal, active, and clever girl ready for adventure, Zelle is waiting for you! Please complete an online adoption application for Zelle if you're interested in meeting her. These applications can be found on our website at www.wesavepets.com. Once your application has been submitted, a Safe Haven volunteer will be in contact to discuss the next steps of the meet & greet process.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 28, 2025, 12:54 am

Story
Macy is a German Shorthair Pointer, born in 2019.  She is a very loving and sensitive girl.  She's intuitive, smart and listens well.  Macy is dog friendly and gets along with kids of all ages.  (No cats or squirrels for this girl!)  She's a little shy around new people and will be protective of her people. Macy is house trained and crate trained, but she would prefer not to be kenneled.  (She'll probably bark and try to break out.)  She fetches and knows some commands. Macy is energetic and likes to be active.  She's leash trained and would love to go along if you're going for a walk.  Macy also does well at dog parks.   Here are a few more of Macy's favorite things: Kids! Car rides, long or short. Likes to be tickled when playing. Toys and playing ball. Room to run in the yard (fenced). Macy is really looking for a home where she is loved and gets a lot of attention.  She wants to be part of the family and not be excluded from anything.  You'll get lots of kisses and cuddles from her in return - she might even take a nap on your lap! The suggested adoption donation for Macy is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Being a German Shorthair & Hound mix, you can imagine that ol' Oscar is a lover of the outdoors! This sweet boy was born in May of 2015 and is still looking for a place to call his own. Oscar enjoys being around people, especially ladies, but he understands what it's like to need some space: your time, my time, and our time! Oscar experiences anxiety and because of this, boundaries are important to him. When his anxiety is low, Oscar is a goofy, playful boy who likes to chase balls, sticks, and rabbits. He loves, loves, loves long walks with plenty of time to let his hound nose get some exercise, and lots of exercise helps work off that extra energy that can make this handsome boy nervous! Because of his love for exploration, Oscar will need a fenced-in yard to keep him close to home.  Oscar is not kennel trained, but is totally fine being left to lounge around the house while you're away.  He's also housetrained, so no worries about that business! Oscar is a very smart dog who knows "sit", "stay", "lay down", "leave it" and he also knows that when he follows these fun words, he gets really yummy treats! Oscar's ideal home will be with an active person/couple who love to explore nature, just like he does, and who will love him like family while respecting his need for boundaries and independence! The suggested adoption donation for Oscar is $315.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.  If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person.
