Story
Meet Junebug!  June is a sweet, easygoing girl with a calm personality and lots of love to give—her former foster jokingly calls her a “love bug.” She is crate trained, knows basic commands like sit and down, and gets along well with other dogs and cats. She is mostly potty trained and does best with a consistent routine. At approximately 41 pounds, she enjoys attention and affection more than toys and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a gentle, loving dog. Her ideal home would be an active family or person with a backyard and (bonus) another dog to play with.  She's very social, with both dogs and people, and would enjoy life with lots of things going on! Note:  her breed is not confirmed, it is our best guess based on her very good looks and temperament.   Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor, and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $135 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. ##2753575##

Story
Ruby turns 4 on July 7th and has been with us since she was 6 weeks old. She’s energetic, smart, and incredibly loving. She adores swimming, tennis balls, ice cubes, and has a natural hunting instinct. She knows all basic commands and even a custom one: say “spot” and she goes straight to her bed and waits for instruction. She thrives on positive reinforcement and behind-the-ear scratches. We’re rehoming Ruby because she’s struggled to adjust to our toddler. She becomes anxious and avoidant around young children and snarled once, which told us it wasn’t the right fit. Ruby deserves a home where she feels fully confident and safe. She would thrive with older kids, adults, or an active family who loves the outdoors. She is a once-in-a-lifetime dog and we want nothing more than to see her fully shine in the right home. 💛

Story
Meet Kip – A Sweet, Snuggly Pup with a Big Heart (and a Brave Spirit!) Kip is as cute as they come and has the sweetest soul to match. This handsome young pup absolutely adores being around his people—cuddles, belly rubs, and quality time are high on his list of favorite things. He's also a big fan of snacks (who isn't?), which makes him extra motivated to learn and bond. Kip is 1.5 years old and weighs 86 pounds. He is potty-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on a leash. He'd love a home with another dog to keep him company, a yard to romp around in, and plenty of toys and chew bones to keep him happy. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a truly special pup, Kip will reward you with a lifetime of love, loyalty, and snuggles. Tucker is a true gem: likely a mix of German Short Hair and Catahoula, he seems to combine the best traits of both. He is perfectly socialized, house trained, loves other animals and people .... what else can you ask for? And what a handsome guy he is too! You will never regret adding this sweet young guy to your household!

Story
Petey walked onto a property in the country one day and let everybody know that he was not just visiting, but really intended to stay. This would have been perfectly fine with the human residents, but they want Petey to have the best possible life and felt this high energy young man needed to have someone younger than they are. GSP's are wonderful dogs who are very lovable and loving and are very trainable. They do have a high energy level and usually a strong prey drive. Training is definitely a must. They will reward you with unconditional love and loyalty.
