Story
Calypso Henson is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Calypso dances to the beat of her own drum. This gorgeous 1 year old wirehaired pointer mix hears the call of the wild and wants to be where the breeze takes her-especially if that means chasing birds, squirrels, bunnies, and chipmunks. This girl has a tracking collar and MUST be adopted to a home with a fully fenced yard who understands fearful, flight risk pups. All foster dogs and new rescues are considered flight risks, but miss Calypso is a little Houdini. While Calypso comes across as comfortable and easy at adoption events, she's quite timid and skittish in the home and will need a family that is willing to give her time and space to come into her own. Calypso is a gorgeous free spirit and absolutely thrives in a home with other dogs her size or smaller, and at least one other confident dog will be required for her forever home. She much prefers pups to people, and needs to learn that she is safe and loved. Once she feels safe and settled her true personality shines through. She loves a good cuddle with humans and dog friends too! Calypso is crate and house trained and generally pretty quiet in the house with an occasional bark if she's startled. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter. If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
Meet Petra, a super sweet and spunky 3 month old female German Wirehaired Pointer mix puppy! Petra is one of the pups from the Oktoberfest litter, born to mama Gretchen (37 lb German Wirehaired Pointer mix - found as a stray in east TN when she was heavily pregnant) on 10/29/2025. We are unsure what Dad is, but based on the pups' current age and size, we think they will grow to around 40-60 lbs.  Petra is all white with a few tiny, faint black spots on the tips of her ears. She has the cutest little speckled nose! She is a little scruffy like her mom, and her coat has been getting more scruffy/wiry as she grows. Petra loves to play and chew on bones, her favorite spot is in your lap! She is a total love and a super sweet girl!   She is a typical happy, friendly puppy who is good with everyone! Good with dogs, cats, people, and kids. Young puppies are like blank slates who, with proper training and socialization, will grow into wonderful dogs. Petra is medically up to date (age appropriate) and is so excited to embark on her next adventure - finding her furever family! Apply to meet this sweetie today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2594681##
