Story
Being a German Shorthair & Hound mix, you can imagine that ol' Oscar is a lover of the outdoors! This sweet boy was born in May of 2015 and is still looking for a place to call his own. Oscar enjoys being around people, especially ladies, but he understands what it's like to need some space: your time, my time, and our time! Oscar experiences anxiety and because of this, boundaries are important to him. When his anxiety is low, Oscar is a goofy, playful boy who likes to chase balls, sticks, and rabbits. He loves, loves, loves long walks with plenty of time to let his hound nose get some exercise, and lots of exercise helps work off that extra energy that can make this handsome boy nervous! Because of his love for exploration, Oscar will need a fenced-in yard to keep him close to home.  Oscar is not kennel trained, but is totally fine being left to lounge around the house while you're away.  He's also housetrained, so no worries about that business! Oscar is a very smart dog who knows "sit", "stay", "lay down", "leave it" and he also knows that when he follows these fun words, he gets really yummy treats! Oscar's ideal home will be with an active person/couple who love to explore nature, just like he does, and who will love him like family while respecting his need for boundaries and independence! The suggested adoption donation for Oscar is $315.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.  If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter.  We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs.  If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Georgia is a very sweet English Setter mix, born August 2023.  Her dream job is couch surfing with her human besties.  Back-up dream job would be the sniffing queen of her environment.  Here are a few things we know about Georgia: She utterly craves being around those who show her kindness. Some pups demand interaction, but our sweet Georgia girl would be happy as can be to sit next to you on the couch, walking politely around a lake or park. Georgia has an A+ nose detection system and would love to demo it for you on a nature walk. Georgia is heartworm positive and has started the pre-meds before the injection treatments can be completed.  Her optimal recovery zone has 1 or 2 people focused on just her (though she can share her people well).  Her people need to be home bodies (work from home or not gone long hours of the day).  Too many episodes of loss prior to reaching our care has made her extremely anxious with separation. She needs a friend to be by her side as heartworms are destroyed to love on her and keep her calm.  Georgia has been doing well overall with most dogs, but she'll need to find the doggie zen zone that works for her so she can have the best chance of success. Georgia is potty trained, gentle, walks well on leash and would LOVE nothing more than to be your new best buddy. If you're on board to be her support team, she is 4-paws in to be your support as well!!   Georgia came from a situation where she was living with many other dogs.  She was going to be euthanized just because she was pregnant and someone agreed to take her in.  It might take her just a little bit to adjust to a family that only has 1 or 2 other dogs!  She also loves cats and kids.  Because of her severe separation anxiety, she doesn't like to be kenneled because that means she would be away from you.  She will need help with kennel training because she can be destructive if left out.  This girl is also an escape artist, so you will need to make sure windows are not open and she can't sneak out anywhere. Her new people will need to be willing to work with her regarding her separation anxiety.  We would really like to find Georgia a special home where she gets lots of love!  She currently takes Ambien to help her sleep at night.  We anticipate the amount of medication she takes now will decrease over time as she settles in at her new place. Georgia gave birth to 8 puppies in June 2025.  Her puppies each found their own homes. Now it's time to find Georgia her own home! Adoptions for Georgia are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that she can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers. The suggested adoption donation for Georgia is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2464050##

Story
Macy is a German Shorthair Pointer, born in 2019.  She is a very loving and sensitive girl.  She's intuitive, smart and listens well.  Macy is dog friendly and gets along with kids of all ages.  (No cats or squirrels for this girl!)  She's a little shy around new people and will be protective of her people. Macy is house trained and crate trained, but she would prefer not to be kenneled.  (She'll probably bark and try to break out.)  She fetches and knows some commands. Macy is energetic and likes to be active.  She's leash trained and would love to go along if you're going for a walk.  Macy also does well at dog parks.   Here are a few more of Macy's favorite things: Kids! Car rides, long or short. Likes to be tickled when playing. Toys and playing ball. Room to run in the yard (fenced). Macy is really looking for a home where she is loved and gets a lot of attention.  She wants to be part of the family and not be excluded from anything.  You'll get lots of kisses and cuddles from her in return - she might even take a nap on your lap! The suggested adoption donation for Macy is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.
