Story
April is an adorable 10-month-old, 12 lb Miniature Schnauzer with a playful and loving spirit. She can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but once she feels comfortable, her personality really shines. April especially comes alive in play group, where she loves running around the yard and having fun with other dogs. April is still learning to feel secure with human interaction and can be nervous about touch. She will need a calm, patient adopter who is willing to move at her pace and help her build trust through gentle guidance and consistency. She requires a home with another dog, as a canine companion could help her feel more confident and comfortable. A meet and greet at the shelter will be required to ensure it’s a good fit for everyone. She is still learning to walk on a leash and feel comfortable with that, so a fenced-in yard is preferred. At just 10 months old, April is still very much a puppy and will need someone committed to socializing her with both people and dogs to support her future success. With time, patience, and love, April has all the makings of a joyful, loyal companion. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
