Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Are you looking for a sweet, friendly, eager-to-join-in-any-fun companion? Milo the Pyr/Husky mix may be the pyrfect boy for you. Milo's cuteness is seriously over-the-top, and he brings his A-game to every interaction, every chance he gets. If you are bored with muttering to yourself with no response, Milo will happily chime in and give you his opinion! In fact, the second thing on Milo's wish list is to have his own radio show for all things pup-related. What is the first thing on Milo's wish list, you ask? - His very own furever family, of course! This playful boy has the most delightful pyrsonality, and he will thrive in a home where he is engaged in every aspect of the household. Milo would also love it if his furever people are willing to teach him all kinds of tricks, because he is VERY EAGER to learn and show off his skills. He is already crate trained and knows “sit,” and “down.” He gets along with both male and female dogs of all sizes, from the tiniest Mini Dachshund to the biggest Great Pyrenees! Milo’s ideal home will have a big, 6-foot fenced-in yard (don’t worry, he doesn’t dig!), and an active family that has Husky experience. He’d be happy with or without other canine companions. What say you? Are you ready to give this handsome boy his very own furever home? National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Meet Walker, a drop-dead gorgeous Pyr mix who is turning heads everywhere he goes - seriously, everyone who meets him comments on how beautiful he is! Walker was picked up as a stray in Alabama, found walking along the highway, and now he’s loving life in foster care! He’s a sweet, playful, affectionate boy who is leggy, puppy-like, and always up for a good time. He is house trained, crate trained, and knows "sit.” Walker is learning how to walk like a gentleman on leash and would thrive with people who will continue his reward-based training. He is food motivated and eager to learn, happily accepting any treat that comes his way, and will give his paw to ask for attention. Walker is very playful and energetic, and would thrive with active people who have plenty of energy to match his own. He loves play wrestling with other dogs, soaking up attention, playing and racing on the deck, parkour, chewing on deer antlers, and prancing through high grass. The one thing he's not a fan of is going outside in the rain! He prefers to be an inside dog, but would love a 4.5 foot fenced yard for some zoomies! He barks about average for a Pyr, so a home with enough space between neighbors would be ideal. Around other animals, Walker is an excellent match for female dogs and would absolutely love a lady canine playmate. He is okay with male dogs too, just not as playful, and a little cautious around unfamiliar male dogs. Dog-savvy cats should do just fine with him - he's not aggressive and will happily ignore a cat that's just chilling, though he may give chase if a cat takes off running. Walker is friendly when meeting new people, and while he hasn't had exposure to kids, his friendly nature bodes well, so sturdy kids who can handle his big-puppy antics should do fine. He's not a digger, and in no way protective of food - he’s fine sharing his dining space and taking treats around other animals. Walker has a sweet, loving spirit - he just wants love and attention, and he's game for anything as long as it involves having fun. Stunning, sweet, and full of personality, Walker is looking for an active family with room to run, a canine companion to play with, and a strong leader, and he offers plenty of love to give in return!
