Story
Tri Pod boy! Casper came to us last fall as a 5 month old puppy from a local family who had purchased him as a small puppy. Quickly they realized that there was something wrong with his hind legs but they did not have the funds to bring him to an orthopedic for further testing. He was surrendered to us and immediately brought to our orthopedic who found that he had not only one but two deformed back legs, luxating patellas (grade 4) on each leg. This is a genetic mess up and he was purchased from a backyard breeder so it is not surprising. Within one week Casper had his first surgery to fix the more usable leg. It was a long road to recovery and we were uncertain of his future of walking normally again. After that leg healed he really didn't show signs of overall improvement and it was decided to not move forward with surgery on the other leg, for many reasons. We gave him time, PT and a lot of working on walking before deciding to take the more deformed and painful leg off. About 2 weeks ago he had surgery to amputate the leg that was holding him back, it was a scary choice because we were uncertain how his other leg and ability to walk would adjust to this new concept of being 3 legged but with our chins on the floor Casper was up and walking the most normal he has ever walked in his life. Casper has always loved life, you can find him cuddled up with his buddy Zazoo at any time of the day or playing in the yard but the new light in his eyes has been amazing. He is finally thriving and able to be a "normal" dog. He is finally ready to find the perfect husky loving home and we couldn't be more grateful to be a part of this guy's story.  Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 42.375 Age: 1yrs 3mths 4wks

Story
*Name: Pepper *Age: 2.5 years *Current Weight: 55 pounds *Adoption fee: $475 *Health: Up to date on vaccines, spayed & microchipped *Adoption requirements: Adopter must be 25 or older,  Meet Pepper! Pepper is very sweet and will love her person. Pepper is an active dog that plays fetch with frisbees and tennis balls, is happy to jog, walk, hike with you or just run around the yard. She is very intelligent and will continue to happily learn new tricks. She is house trained, crate trained and knows basic commands. She loves to chew but is good about only chewing her own toys and chewy. Pepper is very food driven and will do almost anything for a treat but responds well to praise and pets too. She needs tons of brain work and needs to burn energy a few times a day, currently getting two 2.5-3 mile walks a day as well as play sessions, training and free play outside each day. She will sit and wait for her food. She is attentive and loves to be with people. Loud noises and sudden movements make her nervous, so she would prefer a home without small children. Pepper currently lives in a house with cats and chickens and will chase if given the opportunity. To apply to adopt, fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/ FAQs -- PLEASE READ ALL BEFORE EMAILING All adoption fees are non-refundable Please note that SNARR NE is a volunteer-based organization. While our volunteers will try to respond to you as quickly as possible, it is helpful if you review the below information about our adoption process before emailing: LISTED BREED(S) & AGE: We are taking our best guess on age, breed, and size when fully grown, based on the puppy's/dog's physical appearance and what we might have learned about one or both parents depending on the situation. *NOTE* We rarely know a dog's exact age, nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. Because we often do not have access to medical records at the time that we are listing for dogs for adoption, there are sometimes discrepancies between what is posted on their profile and what might be listed on a dog's medical records. SNARR'S ADOPTION PROCESS: The first step in adopting or meeting a SNARR dog/puppy is to fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/. Once we receive your application, one of our adoption application processors will contact you, review our adoption process with you, and answer any additional questions you may have. **We do not go on a first-come-first-serve basis for adoptions, but on best fit for a family and most importantly the puppy or dog. ** MEETING ADOPTABLE DOGS: Meet and greets will not be scheduled until after your adoption application has been fully processed and approved by one of our adoption processors. APPLYING ONLINE: If you fill out an online application, please do so from a computer (not a mobile device), make sure you answer ALL the questions in as much detail as possible, and that you receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation email, that means we did NOT receive your application. ##1590941##
