Story
Hi, I’m Birdie, a beautiful 11-month-old Golden Retriever puppy who weighs 20 pounds. I’m nervous and shy when I meet new people, but I warm up as trust builds. I’m a curious pup who is looking for a loving, patient person or persons who can give me a safe place to learn about this big world.
General Behavior: Birdie is an affectionate, playful pup though she is shy when she first meets you. She’s an independent girl, fine doing her own thing in a safe place.
Likes & Dislikes: Birdie loves toys, the more, the better! She does not like thunderstorms or car rides, but she’s learning to adapt. She can sleep in a dog bed or the people bed at night.
Training: Birdie is still a puppy and is just learning how to navigate the world. She needs additional training in leash walking and basic commands.
Medical: Birdie will need to continue on a high-calorie puppy food for a few more months until she gains more weight. Otherwise, she just needs her heartworm and flea/tick preventive medicines, like any pup.
Other Animals: This sweet girl is good with dogs of all sizes and would likely do well with a canine companion who can help her learn how to be a dog. She hasn’t been tested with cats yet.
Children: Birdie is nervous around children and would do best in a home with adults only.
Home: Birdie will thrive in a home with a secure, fenced-in yard where she can safely explore the world. She can be left alone in a secure place in the home for several hours without issues.
Grooming: Like all Golden Retrievers, Birdie is a shedder! She will need regular grooming, baths, and brushing to look and feel her best.
