Meet Dandy! She is believed to be a 2 year old Lab retriever mix. Dandy is great and has made steady progress since she arrived at the sanctuary. Dandy and her sisters where part of a hoarding case where over 40 dogs lived for years and one day abandoned. Dandy has shown she is good with every dog of every size and age she meets, cats and even love the joy kids own. While she is still timid and a bit shy she is outgoing, happy, joyful, and playful. She's our little tom boy in the group of girls. Dandy wrestles, loves toys, dances with Hugo every chance she gets, loves the outdoor altho she still unsure, loves swimming, hiking, and is always pushing to explore life and the true meaning of how a pet should be treated and live for, humans. Her healing has helped her become an amazing dog and she is ready for her forever humans to join her new life adventures. The sky has no limit as long as her people have her back, encourage and push her to try as she experience the life of a pet. Dandy absolutely needs a home with other playful dogs, a owner with an adventures soul and patience as her curiosa little heart lives the best life she can. A secure fenced in yard is a must. We welcome condo and apartment living adopters too. All dogs are spay/neuter, receive all sets of age appropriate vaccines including lepto, corona and rabies, dewormed and fecal tested negative, microchipped including registration, and kept current on monthly heartworm and flea tick prevention upon adoption. Story
Meet Sunny short for Sunflower. She is believed to be a bloodhound shepherd mix possibly retriever. a year old at most. Sunny was pulled from a local shelter Christmas of 2021 after a hoarding abandonment case of 27 plus fearful feral dogs left behind in a property. The home was condemned, disgusting filthy. A home in such condition, no animal or human should have to live in. Sunny and 3 others call the sanctuary home for the time being, all are doing amazing with their rehab, learning what life as a loved pet should be. Sunny struggles to settle in and takes more time then the others. She is the one that stresses easily when meeting new people but with a playful active dog mentoring her she does so much better. She slowly warms up some when it comes to people, still unsure if she wants human affection at first but will always take a treat, moves in for petting, willing to snuggle and even cuddle. Sunny loves all the dogs, is good with cats and small critters too. A 100% secured fenced in yard is a must, A home with other pets is required. At least 1 other balance playful, outgoing dog for her to follow/gravitate toward. Sunny has an amazing personality she herself is still learning about who she is. Always best to approach her slow at first. Sunny needs a lot of confidence still, and that requires a lot of patience with no set time frame and expectations ever. Allow her to live life 1 day at a time. Sunny walks amazing on leash, barks very little but barks. is very playful, loves treats, and eventually settles in. Sunny is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, de-wormed, fecal tested negative, micro-chipped, neutered, and on monthly heart-worm flea/tick prevention. Story
Daisy is just over a year old and is a total sweetheart. She loves children, other dogs and is safe with dog-savvy cats. We hoped Daisy would be a companion for a US Veteran, however due to life changes, we will need to find her a new home. Daisy has had extensive professional training and currently lives with her trainer as we look for the perfect home for her. She is house and crate trained, is current on her vaccines and is spayed. She will come with supplies including a large crate (she does not need to be crated, but can be) toys, food and other supplies. The perfect home for Daisy would be a family with older children (she is a big girl and likes to play and run), or an active single person. She needs a fenced in yard, but has a great recall and solid basic obedience. She is a higher energy pup, but with proper exercise and attention she can be a very quiet well-behaved house dog as well. Daisy’s adoption fee is $500 and is a donation to Veteran’s Best Friend Indiana, LLC. If you feel you or someone you know can give Daisy an amazing home, please contact complete the adoption application. https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/VBF-A-4 She currently being fostered in Franklin, IN and lives happily with another female Golden Doodle. She is cat friendly.
