Story
HONEY is a F1B Goldendoodle that was rescued from a puppy mill. She is a sactuary dog that is available under our Foster to Adopt program. She is 5 years old. She had an injured leg which required ACL surgery which we had done in 2019. She was terrified of people when she first came.. She was rescued in 2019 when she was one year old. Honey has come around. Her fear is getting better with people. Once she bonds with someone she is the sweetest most loveable dog to them. Like others in our sanctuary she will never be a social butterfly. Honey gets groomed every 2 months and rides in the car well, She will walk on a leash to the groomers building. This has become a routine. She needs routines. If she is familar with a place she will do well. She will probably never walk on a leash for daily walks, she will be too afraid. She just needs her back yard and her home. If you ever go on vacation she will need a dog sitter in your home. She will never do well taking a trip or going to boarding. Honey has become a bit protective of her people. If you have company she will stay away, however there have been incidents when a stranger turns their back she will try to nip at their butt or ankles then run away when they turn around. We feel she protecting us. We would not call this aggression it has never led to more than a nip and then she runs the other way. She does not do it with all people. The key would be for her to get to know your guests with treats. She would do best in a home with no children because of the possible nipping when friends come over. She is good with dogs, however she will be the alpha dog. She does not play with other dogs either, she just wants her people. She is a calm dog. She has no anxiety really. You can leave her to free roam. She never uses a crate. She can be trusted. She will not chew or get into anything.  She needs a secure fenced in yard and someone home during the day. You must be located within 50 miles of Grovertown, Indiana.  She is vaccinated, spayed , microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200 For more information on our Foster to Adopt Program go to this link https://indianasaveadog.com/foster-to-adopt ##2057193##

Story
Meet Millie a Golden Retriever we rescued from a puppy mill. Millie is a Sanctuary dog and available under our Foster to Adopt program.  Millie was born Sept 25, 2022. She weighs 50 lbs.. She is a gentle, sweet and loveable soul. Millie is in a foster home. She has gone from being terrified of people to loving everyone at her foster home. She will dance around for treats, and play with other dogs all day in her foster home. However, you will not see the happy side of Millie for a few weeks. She reverts to being afraid and  terrified in new surroundings and with new people. The trusting process will start all over again.  She needs a special home.  She will cower down when someone approaches her.  She will lay in a corner with her head down at first. She will not come to you. She will need to adjust on her own time   She is very treat motivated, although the first few weeks she would not take any treats from us. She was too scared. She does not walk on a leash, she will lay down. Once she trusts you, she will walk a bit on a leash, however she still has a long way to go. You may have to carry her outside for a while. SHE MUST HAVE A SECURE FENCED IN BACK YARD She gets along great with other dogs She needs another friendly, submissive, younger, easy going dog in the home to teach her how to be a dog, this is a must  She needs an adult in the family who is home more, no young children under 10 years of age, although she loves all people and kids she is skittish.   She sleeps in a crate in the bedroom at night. She sleeps through the night, without a peep as long as the crate is in the bedroom. If we put the crate in another room, she will bark . When she first came here she had a open door crate in the family room which was her safe place. Mille will need to be crated when you leave, she will chew up things and counter surf. This is one of the reasons that she needs a home where the adopter is home during the day. She does not like to be crated.  Millie will take time and patience for her to come around. She needs a special home. Thankfully treats are the way to her heart, but not at first.  She is comfortable in her foster home. She will get into things when you are not watching, she will chew things like pillows, and indoor plants.  She is housetrained , however the foster home does have a pet door so she goes outside as she pleases. Millie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped. She is a sweet, gentle unsocialized girl that came from a bad puppy mill and needs a lot of patience before she will trust you.  We are looking for the right home,  Only apply if you are serious and meet our adoption criteria. You must work out of your home or be retired. She can not be crated for long periods of time. Can you carry a 50lb dog to the back yard if she won't walk?  You must have a secure fenced in yard, and another confident and happy dog to show Millie how to be a dog. You must live within 50 miles of Grovertown, Indiana. For more information on our Foster to Adopt Program go to this link https://indianasaveadog.com/foster-to-adopt ##1804545##

Story
Look at this face! Beau sure is one handsome boy that is all "Doodle" including smarts and plenty of energy. He is looking for someone to continue with his obedience training, so he can be a wonderful and fun companion. He is somewhat protective of his possessions, so a home without children would be the best fit for Beau. We have not introduced Beau to other dogs or cats at this point. If you have the time and patience to work with this guy, especially teaching him to share, he is a wonderful loving dog. Breed experience and a fenced yard preferred.DOB 9/20/19 70 poundsI'm waiting for a home to call my own. email webmaster@petrefuge.com to learn more about me or fill out an application at https://www.petrefuge.com/adoptPet Refuge was formed in 1978 to help with cats and dogs in need of homes. Story
Toby is a 10-month-old mixed breed pup with a heartwarming story of resilience. Found running scared with his littermate last spring, Toby’s journey to safety has been a long and challenging one. While his littermate was quickly adopted by a loving family, Toby spent a few more weeks on his own before he was successfully trapped and brought to safety. Toby does need another dog in the home. Initially shut down in the county shelter, Toby was connected with a foster home to help him begin feeling safe and loved. Although the journey to confidence is ongoing, Toby has shown remarkable progress. He is much braver now and is steadily gaining confidence in living with humans. When Toby feels safe, his true personality shines through. He is happy, bouncy, and playful with a moderate energy level. Toby loves the company of other playful dogs of similar size and has a special fondness for golden retrievers—unsurprisingly, as his Embark DNA test revealed he is almost 30% golden retriever himself! Toby is looking for a patient and understanding forever home that will continue to help him build his confidence and feel secure. If you’re ready to provide a loving environment and enjoy the companionship of a playful, gentle pup, Toby might be the perfect addition to your family.  Come meet Toby and let him show you just how special he is!  We do want another dog in the home for him to play with. He is most comfortable around other dogs who can show him the way.   *We do not accept electric/underground fences. All dogs & cats in the home must be spayed/neutered & up to date on core vaccines & preventatives in order for your application to be approved.* ##1986339##
