Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 06/04/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Raleigh Puppy Mill bust Foster location: Foster Home in Raleigh, NC Special Needs? Murphy is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Murphy arrived in rescue with an ear infection that has been treated. Murphy is a goldendoodle. He is not hypoallergnic and will shed. MURPHY REQUIRES ANOTHER ACTIVE DOG IN THE HOME. Weight: 24 lbs and growing - We estimate Murphy will be between 40-50 lbs when full grown Height: 16 in and growing - We estimate Murphy will be 24 inches when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No. Due to his age, Murphy has not been neutered. He will be adopted on a spay/neuter addendum that requires you to neuter him within 9 months at your expense and provide proof of neuter. Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Murphy requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or older. What kind of home would be best for me? Because of his high energy and zest for life, Murphy will thrive with active adopters who can provide him with plenty of physical and mental stimulation. He is good with other dogs of all sizes and is doing well living with a cat. He can already fetch and retrieve a ball and has not met a toy he didn’t like. You can tell he is getting ready to teeth but right now only chews on sticks and pine cones, He is happiest walking with a big stick in his mouth. Puppies especially need LOTS of play and socialization. Murphy has never known life without canine companions. He seeks out his foster siblings for playtime and models their behaviors. He will not be placed in a home without another active dog. What is my personality like? It's hard to believe that Murphy was rescued from a puppy mill (along with 100+ other dogs). Other than being a bit stinky he was in great shape and is extremely well adapted. He is probably one of the smartest pups his foster mom has ever met. Although he has puppy energy, we think he's going to be a pretty chill dog. Murphy has adjusted well to his life in his foster home. Since he is a puppy he is not left unsupervised and is generally either in a crate or tethered to foster mom if he is not being supervised. He has adjusted well to frequent potty breaks and does his business as soon as he goes outside. He does not do any marking. Murphy is one very smart puppy and should be immediately enrolled in obedience training. He is learning quickly and responds well to positive reinforcement. The first thing he should learn while he is small is not to jump...... He is also showing signs of checking out counters, he just can't reach much yet. Murphy is currently sleeping in a crate in a room by himself from 10 AM-5AM with no accidents and is very happy to see everyone in the morning and go right outside to potty. He is eating 3 meals a day of Purina Pro puppy food - beef about 3/4 c each . Murphy wants to go everywhere with you - the bathroom, stand under your feet as you make dinner, even the shower especially if he can lick up some of the water. He would love to go everywhere with his person. He was carsick the first day. but has done well for short rides since then - harnessed into the back seat How do I act when I first meet new people? Murphy loves everyone he meets and is offended if they don’t stop to say hello and tell him what a good boy he is. Other tips and tidbits: Murphy is estimated at 4 months old. We celebrate his birthday 02/04/2025. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. June 16, 2025, 12:34 pm
