Story
Lucky is not squandering the luck that brought him to CAP for the second time after his owner's personal problems prevented her from taking care of him. He is a social butterfly, but only around other dogs. He wants to play with dogs he meets during walks and at the dog park. He relaxes the most when other canines are close by but is picky about his friends so you'll need to bring your dog to meet him. People he does not know scare him. He is timid at first but oh so loving when he gets to know you. He loves to be petted and sit on a lap. He needs an owner with a lot of patience and understanding to give him time to flourish in a loving home. He weighs 36 pounds and is very active. He likes running, tugging, walks, water, and car rides but it may take some time to get him into the car. He is picky about his toys and prefers hard ones. He only got into trouble for begging and racing out the door. He knows the come and no commands. He spent his days outside so he's not a pro with house training. Please be patient when you train him. He can be well behaved on a leash but may pull or jump sometimes. Because of his timidity, he'll need to live in a home with kids at least 15 years old. He is quiet and shy but protective of his family. Please offer lovable Lucky the home, family and security he needs. Story
Oreo is a young, affectionate bundle of energy in that 58 pound slim body. He thinks he's small. Don't tell him otherwise! He is excitable and loves to jump up. He doesn't want to be alone but if he has to, he prefers being in a crate with hard chew toys. He knows the sit, stay, come, no, down, and paw commands. He is house trained, and always had free roam of the house. When he needs to go out, he'll whimper or bop you with his nose. He has experience with kids as young as six and is submissive, friendly, playful, and jumpy. He sometimes plays rough and other times is gentle. Because of his tendency to use his mouth and his unbridled energy, he would be better with older children. He likes car rides, running, toys, walks, water and chase. He is rough on toys because of his love of chewing. No soft toys. Only sturdy toys, please. He got into trouble for chewing, digging, jumping on furniture, begging, and opening gate latches. He hopes that you can teach him how to pace himself. In return, he promises to be totally lovable. He is getting better at leash walking and likes to lead. He is cautious and dominant around cats. He is playful, cautious, rough, submissive, and even dominant around other dogs. You'll need to bring your dog to meet him to be sure they get along. He wants to rough house with dogs he meets during walks and at the dog park. While staying at foster home with another dog (3 years, 50 lbs), Oreo showed how well he gets along with dogs and people. Other than being energetic and going through the adolescent phase of his life, he is a well behaved, easy to train, lovable young dog. He'll make a good companion for an active household with a fenced yard for him to spend that energy. He is an inside dog, who slept on his bed in the bedroom or on the couch at night. He is a slow eater and enjoys savoring the treats. You can contact his foster, Ram at CAPdogfoster@gmail.com or (281) 202-9076 with any questions. Please offer loving, eager-to-please Oreo the home, family, and exercise he needs. Story
Remi is an older pup excited and eager to learn. He is happy to see humans, happy to see dogs, just happy in general. He weighs 40 pounds and will still grow slightly more. He is learning about leash walking but not house training. He is jumpy, playful and active. He loves to run and climb. He is interested in toys but isn't always sure what to do with them. He is submissive, quiet, and curious. We don't know how he'll behave around children but he loves everyone. He can be mouthy so he'll need to live with kids at least 6 years old until he gets some more obedience training under his belt. He gained experience in interacting with other dogs at his foster home and is easygoing, friendly, playful, and respectful. He even shares his food and treats with them. He has enjoyed rough housing with some of his shelter friends and does well in play groups. He has learned the come command. He is active and likes being on a lap and being petted. Please offer Remi the home and family he deserves. Story
Comet is a happy girl who thinks being in a shelter is a big adventure but she has been ready for a home for a very long time. She has already spent more than half of her life at CAP. She spent some time in a foster home where she lived with a cat and a dog. She loves playing with the dogs and is figuring out when the other dog is saying "no, time for a break." She doesn't chase the cat and just watches. She demonstrated how smart she is and that she learns quickly. You won't believe how fast this girl can sit! - especially if treats are headed her way. She made progress with her house training but can't practice what she learned in a shelter environment. Please be patient as you remind her how it works. She likes car rides, running, tugging, toys, walks, jumping, climbing, cuddling with her people and relaxing in front of TV. She weighs 47 pounds, has a lot of energy but is not hyper. She was originally a stray and has not had a chance to perfect good doggie manners yet but a little training will go a long way. She is a work in progress. Because of her tendence to nip when she gets excited during walks, she'll need to live in an adult-only home. Please offer friendly Comet the home, family and training she needs. Please contact her foster at tnieves@cap4pets.org for additional details about Comet, and you'll be happy with what you'll find out.
