Story
One morning in May of 2025, we found Byron in a busy intersection at Howard and Gregg in Pflugerville. He was emaciated, patchy, dirty, and so sad. We took him to the vet and started our journey to getting him healthy and happy. They said he was 6 months old at the time, and weighed 22lbs. Right after finding Byron, we found out we were going to be having a baby. Over the last year, we have worked hard to address his allergies, put weight on him, and help his hair grow back. He's looking and feeling great! Unfortunately, there have been three separate instances of him getting aggressive with small children. It struck us incredibly odd, because he's such a sweet dog with us and our older children. We recently learned he's blind in his right eye, so we think what has happened is they've caught him off guard. Regardless, we can't risk it with our new baby. We have to find this sweet pup a new home.Byron is a lazy lay-arounder. He is home alone A LOT, and is never destructive or anxious.

Story
We got Cornelius as a puppy a little over a year ago. Our son promised to train and care for him which he did not. LOL My wife and I did our best to take over but our other dog is about 6 years older and has an extremely calm demeanor. Cornelius is not calm! He's not crazy - he just really wants to play... a lot. Our house is surrounded by other dogs and Cornelius does not bark at any of them. He really only barks when he wants you to play with him. He is used to a doggy door and loves to go outside often, sometimes just to lay in the sun. For a short period, we had 2 other small dogs (Shih tzu & chihuahua) and he was so gentle with them even though he towered over them. He is potty trained and crate trained. Cornelius really is a happy dog and we are going to be very particular about the home he goes to. You MUST have a yard for him to play in and be willing to spend undivided time with him on a daily basis.

He came into our family when his previous owner was moving out of town and could no longer keep him. We welcomed him when he was about a year old, and he has been a loyal, loving part of our family ever since. Hondo absolutely loves kids and is great with families. He’s playful, affectionate, and enjoys being around people. He socializes well with other dogs and has a friendly, easygoing personality. He is also a smart and well-mannered dog — he has great recall and follows basic commands without needing treats, including sit, stay, bed, and down. This is a very difficult decision, but our family is moving out of state in just a few short days, and we want to find Hondo a loving person or family who can give him the time, care, and home he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, family-friendly companion who will bring joy he’s your guy!
