Story
Bailey is a great dog, she loves to go for walks and lay around during the day. She isn’t great around kids who like to be all over her, she would be ideal for someone single or married that is not going to have kids. A ideal owner would know the personality of a large dog, familiar a poodle, and also a yard for Bailey to play in with a fence. She is well trained and never has accidents. She is trained to go in her kennel every night, but is trustworthy during the day at our home to not get into things. She does not like going to the professional kennel and we usually have someone dog sit when we are on vacation. She requires professional grooming every 6-8 weeks for her hair and upkeep. We are up to date on all vaccines and she was just groomed a few weeks ago. I have a dog allergy and it’s been challenging.

Story
2/16/26-Foster Update: Sadie has blossomed and transformed so much over the past month. She is now familiar with the household routine, which has boosted her confidence significantly. I’ve removed the requirement that she needed another confident dog around, as she now happily goes outside to potty independently. When I settle into my chair, she immediately comes over for snuggles and thoroughly enjoys one-on-one attention. She is a low-energy pup who spends most of her day napping in a dog bed. It’s quite amusing how she loves to claim the largest bed, causing my Golden Doodle to settle into a chair until she moves. All the dogs in the house maintain a respectful dynamic. I’m still working on leash training, and she has improved with the harness, especially when my other dogs aren’t present – I suspect she feels less confined. Sadie will thrive in a home where she feels secure and can stay close to her people. She wants to always know where her humans are. Since discovering her favorite bacon-flavored Benebone, she has stopped chewing cardboard and no longer requires kenneling. Mealtime is adorable – she gets so excited that she spins delightful circles in the air. She’s an incredibly sweet dog who will always look like a puppy. Quiet and perfectly sized, she would be ideal for someone living in a townhouse with pet size restrictions. If Sadie sounds like she might be the right fit for your family, please submit an application from the website or speak with your Placement Advisor if you are already approved to adopt! Forever Home Requirements: *Gets along with dogs *Cats Unknown *Kids over the age of 8 *Fence optional-need a plan to keep her safe Sadie is being fostered in the Twin City, MN vincinity. https://grroiowa.org/adoption-information/ ***** 10/31/25-Available for Adoption: From Foster: Sadie is a 6-year-old female, 30# Mini Goldendoodle, who was surrendered to GRRoIOWA by a breeder. These former breeder dogs spend their lives living in kennels just having litters of puppies until they are around 6 years old. Usually, the breeder dogs come into rescue very scared of everything because they have never lived in a house or have never socialized with people. Sadie was afraid of the car ride to my house and was afraid of everything related to a house, but didn’t seem afraid of people. It took quite a while before she would go through the doorway on her own, but she let me touch her from the first day she was here. Sadie watches my dogs, but doesn’t play with them. She needs another dog in the home that she can learn from, but one that won’t challenge her when eating or chewing on toys, because she will just give in. Former breeder dogs really like a routine, so they know what is going to happen. She sits at the treat cupboard when she knows it is time for her dental chew. When I say we are going for a ride, my dogs run to the car. Sadie followed them, but didn’t know what was going to happen. She hasn’t mastered jumping into the car yet because it is high up off the ground, but she has learned to jump out when we get home. Sadie is a low-energy dog. When she first got here, she was afraid of going outside in the wide-open space, so she would run along the fence all around the yard, 2 or 3 times until she was tired. Now she willingly goes out and investigates all around the yard, but she doesn’t like being outside in the rain or wind. I found out that she can go for 12 hours without going potty, so most nights she doesn’t go out with my dogs before I go to bed. I am still working with her on walking on a leash. The first time it was attached to her, she did the alligator role; now she just won’t move. If I put a harness on her, she freezes in place. Sadie will need a home where she can feel secure. She wants to be by her people or know where they are. She does chew inappropriate things, so things will need to be picked up. She decided she likes the taste of cardboard. She chewed on the box that I had some toys in and ate the cardboard. She is always chewing on chew toys. Sadie is a very sweet dog that will always look like a puppy. If you think Sadie might be a good addition to your home, submit an application today! Forever Home Requirements: *Another calm, confident dog in the home *Cats Unknown *Kids over the age of 8 *Fence optional-need plan to keep her safe Sadie is being fostered in the Twin City, MN vincinity. https://grroiowa.org/adoption-information/

Story
Oso(teddy bear in Spanish) is 4 years old he loves to play catch and always enjoys a good belly rub. He is energetic so a home with daily walks or a good yard would be best. He doesn’t know his own size so he likes to jump when he gets excited, but a good chin rub will calm him down. He needs a home with a lot of patience as he can become anxious in new situations.
