Story
Meet Monroe! This stunning 4-year-old Great Dane has endured more than her fair share of hardship, but you’d never guess it by the gentle way she looks at you. Monroe was rescued from a puppy mill, where she spent her early years in confinement, used for breeding without ever knowing the love, comfort, or freedom every dog deserves. Now safe in our care, Monroe is slowly discovering what it means to be a cherished companion. Despite her past, Monroe has a truly tender soul. She’s a calm, observant girl who approaches the world with quiet curiosity and growing confidence. While initially shy in new environments, Monroe warms up beautifully with time and patience. Once she trusts you, she becomes incredibly affectionate—leaning in for soft pets, resting her head in your lap, and quietly following you from room to room just to be close. She gets along well with other respectful dogs and would do best in a calm home with adopters who can offer her the stability and compassion she needs to continue healing. She’s learning how to enjoy the simple joys of life—soft beds, gentle hands, slow walks, and peaceful afternoons. We believe Monroe has never lived in a true home before, so she’s still getting the hang of house manners and daily routines, but she’s making wonderful progress. This regal girl has so much love to give. All she needs is a kind, patient family who will show her the life she’s always deserved. If you’re ready to open your heart to a survivor who’s ready to bloom, Monroe is waiting to meet you.

Story
Meet Perley, a 5-year-old Great Dane who came to Big Dog Ranch after being rescued from a Missouri puppy mill. He’s had very limited positive human interaction in his early life and is still learning to trust people. Because of this, Perley is a fearful dog and will need plenty of time, patience, and consistency to feel safe. He’s looking for a quiet, adult-only home with an experienced adopter who understands large, sensitive breeds—especially dogs who need space and time to build confidence. While Perley is not currently cuddly or affectionate, he may begin to form bonds slowly once he feels secure. For now, he’s more comfortable keeping his distance and observing quietly. Perley has a low energy level and prefers calm, predictable routines. He is good with other respectful, low-key dogs, which can help him feel more at ease in a home. Because of his fearfulness, he is a flight risk and requires a securely fenced yard and close supervision during transitions and outdoor time. He’s not suited for a busy or noisy household, and he is not comfortable around children. He’ll thrive with someone who can provide structure, move at his pace, and let him settle in on his own terms. Perley may not be the dog who greets you at the door or seeks affection right away—but with patience and understanding, he has the potential to feel safe and start building trust in a home that meets him where he is.

Story
Hello, my name is Sampson, I was brought to the ranch after ending up in an out of state shelter. I might look very big boy, but I can promise that I'm nothing more than huge baby. I love all the attention I can get and love to give out all the kisses and loves I can in one time. I am a big couch potato, those things are just so soft, I mean how is a man supposed to resist them? I love being outside and playing in the water. I also enjoy playing with my furry friends here at the ranch, but I think it's time to find my forever home. I want a couch all of my own now. If you think you could handle this much cuteness in your home, please come down to the ranch and visit me!
