Story
Available by Advance Application OnlyAdotpion Fee $220Great Dane or Giant Breed Experience RequiredRanger was originally purchased from a breeder. He was unfortunately surrendered when his owner was no longer able to care for him. Ranger is good with children, but older children will be best due to size. He also walks well on a leash, rides well in the car, and is crate trained. Currently his favorite toy is a basketball one of the staff members brought him. It is a joy to watch him play! Ranger is neutered, microchipped, current on core vaccines and has tested negative for heartworms.***UPDATE Although Ranger was adopted, he was recently surrendered when his owner moved. His housemate Starling was surrendered along with him, if you would like to meet her as well. Ranger is now a VERY LARGE Great Dane weighing 132 pounds. He is housebroken and does well with most dogs. However, we would absolutely recommend a meet and greet, given his size. Absolutely no cats. Ranger is also protective of his home and family. Email adoptionsmanager@hsscg.org for an application or more information. Because Ranger was heartworm positive on arrival, he is currently available as a foster to adopt.

Story
This giant boy was found dumped at Altama Plantation in Brunswick, Ga. He was already neutered, microchipped, crate/house trained, knows some tricks, and had on an expensive collar, but even with the microchip being registered, and owner contacted, they didn't come forward to claim him. Gus is a big ole baby that is a total goober that kind of just bops about the rescue when he's out to socialize with the others. He has gotten a long with most people he's met, but needs a slow introduction to men and needs a home with no kids under the age of 16. He has shown unease around men, even trusted men to the rescue. He is a very big boy that doesn't know his size at all so he will try to rub against you or lean on your while almost knocking you over. He needs experienced Great Dane owners and a high fenced in yard so that he can learn boundaries. If you're interested in this big boy, please fill out an application. https://www.equineremedy.com/application-links

Story
Have you ever seen 130lb dog go fast as lightning? Well, Zira is all about doing to zoomies in the worst possible areas. Close quarters? Trying to clean? Busy? This girl will start zooming around like her life depends on it. When she’s not zooming around like a crazy baby, she thinks she’s a lap dog and wants to be as close as possible to you. She has no concept of personal space and will make room for herself even when there’s none available. Since she has no spatial awareness, small dogs and young kids aren’t recommended. So if you’re ready for some cute, and giant, chaos in your life Zira is 100% your girl. She does start out shy, but once she adjusts to you, you have a big dog that thinks she’s just a baby.

Story
This is Remi! He was found as a stray over a week ago. His owners were contacted but have not expressed interest in taking him back. I have 2 dogs of my own and am unable to keep him. According to his microchip he is around 1 1/2 and neutered. He seems to be a Pitbull/Great Dane/Terrier mix. He is potty trained, knows basic commands, and is a sweetheart. He has been good around other dogs and kids and has never showed any signs of aggression with the past week of holding him. He’s a playful loving boy looking for a good home!

Story
Meet Oswald, a gentle giant with a heart as big as his frame. This lovable fellow is believed to be a fun blend of Rhodesian Ridgeback and Great Dane, though it is his Ridgeback side that shines through most prominently. His coat boasts a striking red sable coloring, a rich blend of reddish- brown with distinctive black-tipped fur and a stunning face mask. Although he is a larger dog, Oswald exudes a certain grace that is a joy to watch. His eyes, large and inquisitive, reflect the kindness and intelligence that radiates from within. Oswald's affectionate nature is undeniable; he's quick to offer love and companionship to anyone and everyone he meets. While Oswald's size and exuberance may require a bit of understanding, especially with smaller children, his amiable nature makes him a wonderful companion for families with prior experience handling larger breeds. This delightful pup enjoys the companionship of other dogs, once they have been properly introduced. He has had some struggles with dog reactivity, but is doing great with training, and will only continue to improve with a consistent, patient, and strong owner. He has not spent much time inside around cats, but is comfortable seeing and walking near them while on outside. When it comes to care, Oswald is fine with a quiet day inside, but also loves to get out, whether it’s the beach or a local walking trail. On walks, he's a model of composure, walking wonderfully on leash and very responsive to corrections. In essence, Oswald is an absolute sweetheart just looking for his forever people.
