You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Online Adoption Application This beautiful girl is about 2.5 years old.  She is a little timid but also very loving.  She seems great with other dogs, gentle with people, about 125 lbs.  She was rescued from the shelter and given up because she could no longer be cared for. She is already spayed and we are working on getting her cherry eyes repaired.  She likes outside and loves just laying in a grass or on a comfy dog bed.  She seems to bond to people quickly. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 10:44 pm

Story
Meet Titan! He is a 12 month old great mix who was adopted from us when he was three month old and was returned to us last month due to his size. He is a little smaller then a full size Great Dane, but he is a mix. He is super playful and is leash trained, house trained and has some basic training skill. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and is dewormed. He has been tossed around and is hoping to find a home and stay forever! He is so very sweet and loves to give kisses! He hopes you apply!

Story
Sunset -  4 mths & 29 lbs (as of 4/25), Great Dane, Spayed Expected Full Grown Size up to 100lbs  Our Team Says: This dog must be adopted out to the burbs. This breed is very sensitive and not a great candidate for the city: not worth the risk.  This puppy is joining Social Tees on 4/26 intake date and is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program starting that day. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed:EXPERT: As an adult, this dog will need loads of structure and daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 2+ consecutive hours of quick paced movement plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy levelMEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Working on this skill. Puppies under 12 weeks old are often on track with their wee pad skills, but they’re too young to walk outside in public NYC areas yet because they haven’t finished their puppy vaccine series. Puppies older than 12 weeks are usually learning to do their business outside. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency, and clean up.  Crate trained?Nope. None of our new puppies have been formally trained, but many of our foster parents/adopters choose to crate train. It can be a great way to keep puppies safe and teach them independence. Social with dogs?Yes. Some puppies are shy, others are bold, but all have the potential to be taught healthy socializing skills. It’s a huge part of raising a puppy and must be done carefully. How they interact with other dogs depends largely on how their humans help them learn to.  Social with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Yes… but most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   Social with cats?Yes. Almost all puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  Mouthy play: High! All puppies go through phases where they chew your stuff and grab your hands, arms, feet… puppies naturally explore the world, play, and test boundaries with their mouths. (It also happens when they’re teething.) Their teeth are super sharp though, so it can be a very painful phase for humans and other animals in the home. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key. Leash manners:None. :) Will need to learn this skill.   Separation anxiety:MEDIUM: Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self soothe. Often they cry the first 10+ minutes when they are left home alone or in a crate. Consistent training and alone time is crucial. Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines (for dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age), spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer uponHow this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
This is Dredd! He is a 17 months old and weighs 52 pounds. We think he’s a Great Dane/Ridgeback mix. That’s our best guess! We think he’s a Great Dane mix because we know his father who is a Great Dane mix. Dredd, despite his name (haha) is SUCH a sweet boy! A big ole goofy boy. The definition of “good boy”! He would be a perfect family dog! He loves all humans equally and is very affectionate and cuddly despite his size. He won’t say no to a hug :) He is wonderful with other dogs and cats. He has been cat tested. Dredd’s story is definitely a story of survival! He was the only surviving puppy from his mom’s litter. The family in Puerto Rico who had him decided to move and left him abandoned in the street. A wonderful woman who became his foster, rescued him and has cared for him in Puerto Rico until he was flown over to NY. He’s ready for a meet and greet. If you feel that DREDD is a good fit for you/your family, please complete an application from our site, miraclesforsatosrescue.org. Feel free to email us: MiraclesforSatosRescue@gmail.com ________________________________________ PLEASE NOTE: We strive for our dogs to be adopted into the right home. The best fit for the dog is our priority. Please make sure you are ready to properly exercise and give a dog all it needs for fulfillment. Your ongoing time and day-to-day commitment is the most important thing in caring for a dog. In addition we cannot guarantee breed of any dog or expected adult size of a puppy. Please note that even house trained dogs will need help transitioning to an adopters home and schedule. Thank you for understanding.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER: Rudy is a bouncy, exuberant boy with a loving soul with lots of affection to give! An experienced adopter and a family with teens and up would be a great match for Rudy given his size and goofball play style. Rudy is loyal, eager to please and affectionate -would love to be your only pet so he can have all your attention to himself! HISTORY: Rudy grew up with a young family and was surrendered due to small children/new babies arriving and the family not having time for this sensitive companion. His current home was intended to be a “foster fail” one while continuing to fosters dogs but despite best efforts to socialize with other dogs, Rudy does not like sharing his mom with new foster dogs. PERSONALITY: Rudy is a handsome, affectionate Great Dane who is energetic & playful yet wants to be your lap dog at the same time -- a true velcro dog! When excited, this 155# puppy bounces around with joy. Rudy will need time to warm up to unfamiliar faces, but once he does he is eager to call you a new friend. Relative to the family’s four legged family members, Rudy bonded with foster brother schnoodle from the beginning. Due to his reticence sharing his humans’ attention, will thrive in a home where he’s the only pet. Rudy is motivated to be with his family, responds to affection and treats. His bouncy personality is sure to endear himself into your heart. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Loves to go for daily walks, chasing his ball on a rope, running zoomies in his fenced backyard and adores snuggling on the sofa with his head on your lap. He wants to play with his foster brother but a 15yo 10# schnoodle is no playmate, so Rudy will play catch with himself using his stuffed toys. Rudy loves his stuffed ‘woobies,’ snuggling against his ‘person’ and has a slow motion lean-in nose touches down to an art form. MEDICAL ISSUES: Rudy (4yo) was neutered and had gastropexy (stomach tacked) when he arrived at his current home. This dignified Great Dane has a sensitive stomach (managed well with probiotics) and sensitive skin (dandruff is managed well with daily fish oil and monthly baths). WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Rudy loves to turn heads on his daily walk so if you’re looking for someone to take walks with, Rudy’s your boy. If walks aren’t possible, a home with a fenced backyard to stretch his long legs would be a dream come true for this playful giant. Rudy is truly a velcro giant and enjoys calm, cozy nights at home snuggling- as close to your lap as possible :). ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Handsome Rudy has leash manners, enjoys his crate for meals (and naps), has excellent recall and knows commands sit (working on stay), no, off and lay down. He likes to learn new tricks when he’s rewarded with a tasty treat. He’d love to work on his socialization to become the best pet he can be! Rudy is a loyal & lovable gentle giant- if you think you have the perfect family home for Rudy, please contact us -- we’d love to find out more about you!!
