Story
This gentle giant is currently at ACC- found as a stray-in the city…twice over the years. His owner clearly does not want him. This senior gentleman is to be guessed at around 15 years old but is in good health considering. He is very relaxed, enjoys his walks and needless to say not terribly energetic. Would make a perfect companion for someone who is looking for a tv buddy or someone to read a book with, sit in front of the fire or maybe take a nice leisurely walk. This gentleman does not belong at ACC- will someone pls step up and offer him a foster or permanent home? He is ow UTD on all vax but is not neutered due to his age. Grandmaster Oogwayneeds out of shelter ASAP- if you can step up to foster or to provide him a home and love for his golden years of his life. so if you can just foster to help him If that special someone is you, please contact adoptions@paws-li.org or go to our FB page or call the number listed below. Name: Grandmaster Oogway Age: 15 years old, give or take Weight: 91 lbs Color: beautiful light silver Health Concerns: none Foster URGENT: Yes Reason for Rescue: stray Phone: (631) 306 4616 Contact: https://paws-li.org/html/services/adopt-1

Story
Tyler - 16 weeks & 35lbs, Great Dane Mix, Neutered Expected to be about 80lbs full grown  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience required:INTERMEDIATE – This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level:MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet because this pup is brand new to us. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age carefully.  Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2709520##

Story
Baloo was surrendered by his previous owner. Since arriving at the shelter, he has been kenneled with other dogs with no issues, and staff have not observed any issues with him. Baloo knows sit and shake and walks perfectly on a leash. He deserves a loving home - his time is almost up and he needs an adopter ASAP to save him. A foster to adopt program is available if you are willing to give Baloo a chance at a happy home with you! Read out! We are working to save as many dogs from southern shelters and place them into loving homes. These shelters are high kill shelters and these dogs are urgently in need of an adopter to save their lives. These are good dogs that had crappy owners who dumped them or just turned them out and the dogs were picked up as stray and taken to the county shelters, left unclaimed. The county shelters fill up quickly and they euthanize (kill) simply because they run out of space for dogs to be. We offer adoptions for any dog we post. We can provide videos, pictures, answer as many questions as we can on the dog for you, etc. We can even do video chat with the dogs (these must be scheduled) if time allows. If you want to adopt but are unsure of a dog because you haven’t met him or her….we offer a adoption foster period program. This is where you adopt the dog and agree to a certain time period trial – usually 2-4 weeks (depending on when transport is running from here to there) to let the dog decompress in a normal home setting and settle in and make sure it’s a good fit for you and the dog. If it isn’t a good fit, we can pick the dog back up when our transport returns to your location but you have to agree to keep the dog safe during the time he/she is with you until we are able to pick the dog up. The adoption fee is non-refundable BUT if the dog is not a good fit for you or you’re not a good fit for it and it’s returned, we do allow you to pick another dog to adopt and transfer the fee to that dog (we will only do this one time), this is not a rotation puppy game. We have been doing rescue for many years (the Director has been doing this for over 30 years). We are pretty good at matching a dog to a person, family, etc. Be honest with us at what you are looking for, what matters to you and what will work best for you and we will be honest with you if you’re interested in a dog that’s not going to work for you. Our adoption fees include all up to date vetting (vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, and any other medical needed by the dog while in the ownership of the rescue). It will also include the transportation to your area (not to your house, you might have to drive a little to pickup the dog depending on where transport stops to meet up with people). Let’s partner together to save a dog and find you your next fur-family member.

Story
Say “hello” to Rena, a super sweet and smart 7-month-old, 62.5-pound Great Dane-mix puppy! Rena is an incredibly affection and happy pup who is always smiling her adorable doggy smile. She loves to play with people and other dogs and gets along with her feline foster sibling too! She also very smart, taking social cues very well from humans and other dogs! Because she is still a puppy, she would do best with a family who can help her continue to hone her skills but she is so trainable and loves to learn, that she will have it all down in no time!
