Sparkles is a playful, intelligent girl who loves people. Her paperwork lists her as a Great Dane and Great Pyrenees mix, though she looks much more like a Great Dane, just on the smaller side. Her previous owner reported that she did well with cats. At Tuttle Animal Shelter, we’ve been introducing her to a variety of dogs and continuing to learn how she does with them. Sparkles does need space from other dogs when she has a treat. She gets defensive when another dog tries to take hers, so treats and meals should be given separately in a home with other dogs. Moose is a Great Dane/Shepherd mix who is about one year old and still very much a puppy in so many ways. He has the goofy personality, endless enthusiasm, and occasional lack of coordination that make him impossible not to love. Honestly, Moose doesn't seem to realize that he is in charge of his own feet—so you can expect plenty of clumsy moments and laughs! Moose is very dog friendly and loves having canine friends to play with. He does play rough, though, so he would do best with dogs who can handle his big puppy energy and playful style. He is mostly house-trained and is continuing to learn all the important things that come with growing up. Moose is currently working on learning that his kennel can be a safe and positive space, along with improving his leash manners and remembering that jumping on people isn't the best way to say hello! Meet Johnny! He is around 1.5 years old and a long and lanky 55 lbs, ready to find his forever home! This sweet guy was found as a stray by Lake Hefner with his sister June when they were still small puppies. They have received all the vet care they need and have grown into great doggos, June has been adopted and Johnny is more than ready to find a home of his own. Johnny is house and crate trained and does great on a leash! He knows sit and is leaning to play fetch. He loves to be in the backyard, chasing squirrels in the yard and telling the birds to get off his lawn. He also loves playing with a dog friend outside! He has done well with other dogs, big and small, with proper introductions. We're unsure how he may be with cats. He is a sweet boy but, like many dogs and people, he takes a minute to warm up to new people. He hasn't lived with children but would likely do fine with older kids that know how to respect dog friends and can give him the time and space a shy guy like him needs to make new friends. He loves to go on walks, snuggle up by his people, and get his back and belly rubbed. Johnny does resource guard some but does great eating in his kennel, giving everyone a little space when it's dinner time. Johnny has a lot to offer a dog-loving person or family that can give a rescue dog the love and patience they need to adjust to a new family and home. This beautiful lady is Nadia! Nadia is an approximately 4-year old female Shepherd/Great Dane mix and weighs around 60 lbs. She was rescued from a very small, outdoor shelter that does no public adoptions. Nadia is so sweet and affectionate. She loves to just be next to you. She is a friendly girl, who can be a little shy at first. Nadia loves to please and should take to training very well. And, don't worry, she will even help you walk her! Nadia LOVES to play with other dogs and can play rough at times, so a home with another playful dog her size or larger would be best. She loves to go to Bar-K and hang out! Nadia will need a secure stockade-fenced back yard and a home where she can get exercise and attention. She is so grateful to live and demonstrates that with affection. Nadia is crate-trained and will walk on a leash but does pull, so a harness is a better option. Since she is in boarding, we do not know if she is house-trained. Nadia is spayed, current on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250. Nadia is currently in a boarding situation, so she qualifies as a foster-to-adopt or just a foster. This regal gal is Miss Xena! Xena is an approximately 5.5-year old female Shepherd / Great Dane mix and weighs around 70 lbs. Xena is truly a warrior princess! She carries herself very gracefully and is truly beautiful. Her pictures do not do her justice! She is a tall and lanky gal! Xena has an awesome personality, can be moderate energy or just chill! She loves playing with other dogs and is currently in a boarding daycare where she plays and socializes with many dogs of all sizes. Xena has done well with the children she has met at outreaches but she has not lived with them before. She is friendly and outgoing. She would love a home where she is included in activities and can interact with her person (people) on a daily basis. She does need a secure stockade-fenced yard as she has legs like a giraffe and could easily clear a chain-link or low fence. When bored, she has jumped a 6-ft chain-link fence just to go the front door of the daycare! Xena appears house-trained. She is crate-trained and walks on a leash like a princess diva! This gentle giant weighs almost 100 pounds and is looking for a family to call his own. Everest is a friendly, affectionate boy who enjoys being around people and generally does well with other dogs. He's a big, bouncy guy who sometimes forgets just how large he is! We believe he could do well with children, although his size and enthusiasm might make him a little overwhelming for very young kids. Everest has spent some time in a foster home, giving us an opportunity to learn more about his personality and behavior. He's shown himself to be a wonderful companion who enjoys being involved in whatever his people are doing. **Although Everest is a mix of two livestock guardian breeds, he is NOT a livestock guardian dog. Everest has killed poultry when left unsupervised and should never be relied upon to guard or protect livestock.** We believe he could still do well on a farm or homestead with appropriate supervision, secure separation from poultry and livestock, and responsible management. However, he is being placed strictly as a companion animal, not a working livestock guardian. Everest previously found himself in a difficult situation when he couldn't be safely contained on his former property. Because of this, a secure living environment is important for his future home.
