Story
Scooby is a 2-year-old Great Dane with a heart as big as his paws. This gentle giant is full of love, energy, and a playful spirit that will keep you smiling every day. Scooby enjoys chasing toys and going for walks, but he’s just as happy to relax by your side after a fun day. He has lived with another dog previously, but has been little nervous meeting new ones. We recommend a meet and greet with any potential doggie siblings. Scooby is looking for a home where he can get plenty of love, attention, and space to stretch those long legs. If you’re ready for a playful, affectionate, and devoted companion, Scooby might just be your perfect match. Story
Have you ever met a dog that is just steals your heart the very moment you see them for the first time? Charming COLE is one such dog. He’s a handsome boy who is an owner release to our shelter, and while very sad to be living with us after having a home, he is enjoying being the apple of the shelter staff's eyes. This dapper gentleman has a sweet frosted face, the only sign of his older age. This Great Dane /mix is still treat motivated, meaning you can easily win him over with treats, but he also adores the adoration of his fans (there are many of us! ) – he lives for love and attention. Your smiles and cuddles and making a fuss over him will work almost as well as those tasty tidbits. If you’re looking for the perfect cuddly senior companion to keep you warm this winter, look no further than COLE. He is a golden boy with a golden heart! Cole is a courtesy post for the Brooke County Animal Shelter in Beechbottom, WV, about 45 minutes from Pittsburgh. Please contact the shelter at 304-394-0800 for more information about Cole or to arrange a meet and greet.  January 19, 2026, 12:35 pm

Story
Meet Mikey — The not-so-Gentle Giant Who Hasn't Figured Out His Size Yet! This handsome 1-year-old Great Dane is looking for his forever home, and he is a lot of dog in the best possible way. At around 100 pounds (and still acting like a lapdog), Mikey is an affectionate, energetic young man who will absolutely be your shadow, your leaning post, and your personal space invader. If you've ever wanted a dog who is deeply, enthusiastically devoted to you, look no further. The good stuff: Mikey is potty trained, crate trained and knows his sit and down commands. He walks reasonably well on a leash and loves other confident, large dogs. He's a total sweetheart who just wants to be near his people — and by near, we mean on you. The real talk: Mikey is a giant puppy with giant puppy energy, and he needs a home that's ready for that. He jumps, he's mouthy, he's exactly the height of the kitchen counter and the concept of personal space is completely lost on him. He sheds, he drools, and he will lean into you with his full body weight because he loves you very, very much. He will need continued obedience training — he's got the foundation; he just needs someone to build on it. He has a couple of food sensitivities, but his diet is very manageable with off-the-shelf foods (without chicken or peanut butter). Your socks should also probably be kept out of reach — ask us about the baby sock incident. It involves Mikey's enormous mouth and a very fast rescue operation. Mikey is best suited for a home without small dogs, cats, or young children. Confident teenagers who are comfortable around big, bouncy dogs are just fine by him. You are an ideal match if you: Have experience with large or giant breeds Have an active lifestyle and can match his energy Don't mind a little drool on your jeans Are committed to ongoing training needs Have room in your home and heart for a big, loveable goofball Mikey has so much love to give and is going to make someone an incredible companion. He just needs a patient, experienced family who will help him learn some manners and grow into the magnificent dog he's already becoming. Mikey will be available for adoption on March 1, 2026; Paws Across Pittsburgh KL# 16182 ##2669822##

Story
Meet Pongo Pongo is a 1-year-old male Great Dane with a heart as big as his paws! Weighing in at 115 lbs, this handsome boy is the perfect mix of gentle giant and goofy best friend. He’s well-mannered, a quick learner, and truly loves being around his people. Pongo has a fun, silly side that will keep you smiling, but he also knows when it’s time to settle down and relax by your side. While he tries his best to be a lap dog, he’s recently accepted that sitting next to you might be a better fit—though he’ll still lean in for all the love he can get. Pongo is living with kids ages 13 and 16, and we believe he'd be fine with kids 10 and older.  He has been ignoring the foster's cats, so we think he'd be fine sharing a home with a feline friends. In just a few short weeks, Pongo has made amazing progress with his training—he’s learned commands like “heel” and “place,” and continues to impress everyone with how eager he is to learn. He’s also been working hard on his leash skills and has improved so much that his foster mom can now comfortably take him on walks! Pongo is ready and motivated to find his forever home where he can keep learning, loving, and being the wonderful companion he was meant to be. Ready to meet your new best friend? Meet the "Gentle Giant" Doodles! Are you looking for a best friend who is equal parts majestic and mischievous? Our litter of "Danedoodles" (Great Dane x Some Poodle & couple other breeds) are officially ready to find their forever familes! These pups have hit the genetic jackpot: they’ve inherited the calm, "velcro-dog" heart of the Great Dane and the clever, playful wit of the Poodle. Despite their growing size, these pups firmly believe they are lap dogs. If there’s a spot next to you, they’ll find it. Thanks to their Poodle roots, they are quick learners! They’re already working on their "sit" and "stay," though they might try to negotiate for an extra treat. Most of the litter sports those soft, wavy coats that mean less time vacuuming and more time playing. Goofy Personalities-From "zoomies" to tilting their heads at every word you say, their curiosity is endless and their wagging tails are lethal weapons of joy. Temperament - Patient, goofy, and incredibly affectionate Energy Level - Playful bursts followed by epic 3-hour naps   Future Size – Based on their DNA (50% Great Dane), these pups are likely to grow big enough to reach the counter—so you might want to hide the cookies! That said, some may take after Mom, a medium-to-large Poodle mix weighing around 60 lbs, meaning you may only need to keep an eye on your end tables instead.  If you're looking for smart, loving and velcro puppies, then adopt one of us! Local adoption fee is $250(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)
