Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Walter! Walter is a young Great Dane mix pup with legendary ears — we’re pretty sure he can pick up satellite signals with those things. He’s still growing into them (and into himself), so yes… he’s going to be a big boy. Big body, even bigger heart. Walter is the total package: &#226&#156&#168 Dog friendly &#226&#156&#168 Cat friendly &#226&#156&#168 Kid approved (he LOVES them) He’s a toy enthusiast who’s perfectly happy entertaining himself, but when the toys are done, he’s all about his people. Walter’s signature move? The lean. If you’re petting him, expect a full-body Great Dane lean that says, “Yes, this is my human now.” This smart cookie already knows basic commands, is housetrained, and is working on polishing up his leash manners. He hasn’t been crated, hasn’t been destructive, and clearly understands that good boys don’t chew the furniture. Walter is up to date on vaccines and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. He’s being lovingly fostered near Dornsife, PA, and is ready to bring laughter, love, and a whole lot of ear flapping into his forever home. If you’ve been looking for a gentle giant in the making with a goofy side and a heart of gold — Walter is your guy.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Click here for the ADOPTION APPLICATION if you are interested in adopting this pet. Applications are the first step in the adoption process. Please do not call or email simply to express interest. We are all volunteers and receiving your application saves us time and helps to determine the best match for both people and dogs.  We provide as much information as we currently have on each dog in their description. For questions on the adoption process, including fees, please review the Adoption page. If you have additional questions or are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application. Once we receive your application someone will be in touch to answer your questions. We do not arrange visits to meet dogs without an application. If you'd like to meet a variety of dogs without filling out an application please attend one of our events, listed under the events link.  Thank you!January 22, 2026, 5:02 pm

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Arkansas or nearby! Waylon is a 2 yr old Great Dane who came into rescue after he was found as a stray. He was in horrific shape and barely survived the level of starvation he endured. But he did survive and he is thriving now! Waylon is still slowly gaining weight, and has almost reached his ideal weight. He is VERY tall. He is so sweet and loving. He want to sit in your lap and cuddle with you, as if he is a 10lb lap dog rather than 120 lb Dane. While in his foster home, he has done well with most other dogs, but it is very structured and his time with other dogs is limited. He does seem to have a jealoys streak and is possessive of his people. He does great in a doggy daycare setting and has spent lots of time in daycare, doing very well with most dogs there. I think this is a lot different than how he will behave in a home setting with other dogs sharing his humans attention. For this reason, we would love to see him adopted into a home where he can be the only dog. He is not a candidate for a home with young kids. He is just too big and clumsy, and he really wants all the attention. I feel the he may become jealous of little kids and view them as competition. We just really want to set him up for success. He's been through enough in his short life amd we want it to be easy from here on our. Waylon holds a very special place in my heart. Hes been in my home through it all- recovering from starvation, happy tail and subsequent tail amputation, heartworm treatment. The odds were stacked against him, but he made it and now he's ready to find his own home. Waylon is located in Alexander, AR. We would prefer a local adopter, within driving distance. I think that transport would be really hard on him. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.I am sure you have never seen a prettier girl than me! Hi! I am June! I have a very sweet, sensitive and gentle personality. I was raised with tiny humans, but not other dogs - so I am not a huge fan. However, with a trainer and some discipline, I might be able to work around that. Honestly, I would prefer to be the only dog. I do not mind cats, though!  I am a very sensitive girl, as in, I throw what my foster mom calls "baby fits." She also says I'm slightly dramatic when it comes to wanting attention. I do love to be a couch potato with my human. I do not require a fenced in yard if you are able to take me out to potty on a leash. I do not prefer to be outside for a long time - I would just as soon stay in bed with you all day long! I'm a lazy Dane!  My perfect home would be someone who can handle my size. I do not always know that I am a 102 pound great Dane mix. While I am not crazy in the house, I can jump sometimes when new people come if I get excited. I am very gentle with kids, I would prefer no other dogs, and cats would be just fine.  I am spayed, even though it was a treacherous experience for me - I do NOT like to wear a cone, but having my foster Mom dress me in a surgical suit was not my favorite option either. You would have thought she cut my toe off the way I screamed when she tried to put my head through the surgical suit hole. I do not like to be fussed with, it takes too much of my energy. Just love me, pet me, tell me I am beautiful and give me treats! I am up to date on vaccines and microchipped.  If you are interested in me, please apply at www.castawaycritters.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 16, 2026, 3:11 pm
