Story
Meet Eeyore!Location: Corpus Christi, TXDOB: 10/24/25Eeyore, affectionately nicknamed Jabarkus, is an incredibly sweet, cuddly, and affectionate boy with a goofy personality that will keep you smiling. It took him about a week to settle into our home, but once he felt comfortable, he truly blossomed. Now he greets us at the door with the cutest happy howl—we absolutely love it!Eeyore has a medium energy level, leaning toward medium-high. He enjoys being with his people and likes to stay close, though he isn't constantly seeking physical contact. He loves to play, run around the yard, and go for walks, but he's also happy to relax after he's had a chance to burn off some energy. Before every meal, he does the sweetest little twirl in circles, and his happy howls are one of our favorite things about him. He's still discovering the world, so many things are new to him. Sometimes he'll startle at unfamiliar sights or sounds, but if you calmly show him everything is okay, he quickly investigates and learns that there's nothing to worry about. He's a very smart dog who learns fast.Eeyore is currently working on his house training and has made great progress. He can stay home for several hours without accidents and can make it through the night just fine. When people are home, he still needs supervision because he occasionally forgets to let you know he needs to go outside. He has learned to use bells on the door when he recognizes he needs to potty, and he's improving every day.Crate training has been more challenging. He absolutely hates the crate and has even managed to escape it twice! He's slowly making progress, but he'll need a patient family willing to continue working with him.His leash manners are also a work in progress. He loves exploring the world and is much more interested in investigating everything than walking politely beside you. Likewise, car rides are still scary for him. We've been taking him on short trips to help build his confidence, but traveling is something he'll continue to need positive experiences with. One area that will benefit from continued training is his excitement around other dogs. On walks, he becomes very eager to greet them and can get overly excited. We've been able to redirect and settle him, and his reactions appear to come from excitement rather than aggression. Because of this, we currently feel he would do best as an only dog, though an experienced home with a calm, well-socialized dog that can appropriately correct him may also be successful.Eeyore has not been tested with cats.He currently lives with teenagers (ages 14, 16, and 17) and absolutely adores them. He has never met a stranger and thinks everyone is a potential friend. He's not much of a guard dog! The only time he barked protectively was when one of the kids snuck into the kitchen late at night shortly after Eeyore arrived. He quickly realized who it was and immediately relaxed. One thing to know about Eeyore—he LOVES to chew! Socks, shoes, bras, and just about any personal item left within reach are fair game. Providing plenty of appropriate chew toys and keeping tempting items picked up will help set him up for success.Eeyore would thrive with an active family that enjoys daily walks, hikes, jogging, or outdoor adventures. He doesn't need constant activity, but he does need an outlet for his energy every day. We think he'd do best with children around 12 years and older, simply because he's playful, energetic, and can match their activity level. Most of all, Eeyore needs a family committed to continuing his training. He is an incredibly intelligent dog with so much potential and loves learning new things. With consistency, patience, and plenty of love, he's going to make an amazing companion. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate, hilarious dog who will greet you with happy howls and keep life entertaining, Eeyore just might be your perfect match.===============================================================================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
Meet Chloe Sunshine Location: Boerne, TXDOB: 06/06/2018Chloe Sunshine is a beautiful Great Dane mix whose journey is a true testament to resilience, healing, and the power of love. She came into rescue after surviving on her own in a remote area of Texas, where she had to be humanely trapped just to receive help. Before that, she endured distemper, which left her with a small facial and mouth tic that doesn’t bother her one bit. When Chloe was rescued, she was malnourished, exhausted, and pregnant. Tragically, her puppies did not survive, and she required emergency surgery to save her life. During her recovery, she was spayed and had several damaged teeth removed—likely worn down from trying to escape confinement. With proper care, nourishment, and rest, Chloe slowly began her journey toward healing. When she first entered foster care, Chloe was completely shut down and terrified of people. Given a quiet, safe space and the freedom to move at her own pace, she began to take small, brave steps forward. The presence of other dogs helped her tremendously, showing her that she was safe and allowing her to learn how to trust again.Today, Chloe Sunshine is a completely different dog. She has blossomed into a joyful, curious, and playful girl who is learning to embrace life. She absolutely thrives with other dogs—playing, wrestling, and taking comfort in their companionship—so a home with a confident canine friend would be ideal for her.Chloe loves her toys and will happily toss them in the air to entertain herself. Mealtime and park time are her favorite parts of the day, and her excitement is contagious. She enjoys chewing on bones, sunbathing in the yard, using the doggy door, and is always ready for a car ride adventure. She shows affection in the sweetest ways—leaning in for chest and neck scratches, offering little bows, and greeting her people with an adorable happy dance that perfectly matches her name.Chloe has shown she can adapt to new environments and continue building trust, but she will thrive in a patient, gentle home that understands her past and is committed to continuing her journey. She deserves a family who will celebrate her progress, respect her pace, and give her the love and security she has always needed. After everything she’s been through, Chloe Sunshine is no longer just surviving—she’s truly living. Now, she’s ready to share that sunshine with a family of her own.=========================To apply to adopt Chloe Sunshine, please fill out the application form:https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match.Explore more adoptable dogs at saverockythegreatdane.org/adoptFor more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
Meet WillaLocation; Springdale, ARDOB: 04/02/2023Willa is a young, playful girl with a BIG heart and an even bigger love for her people. She’s very puppy-like and absolutely thrives on attention and companionship — a true Velcro dog who wants to be wherever her humans are. This sweet girl loves to run, play, and be part of the action. She has a higher energy level and will do best with an active family who can give her multiple walks, playtime, and mental stimulation to keep her happy and out of trouble.Willa is fully housetrained and rides great in the car. She’s currently working on her leash manners and is doing really well — she’s attentive, doesn’t pull, and is eager to learn. Like many young dogs, she’s still figuring out boundaries. Shoes are her favorite “toy” if left out, and she does like to chew when unsupervised, so she needs to be crated when home alone. She also has some separation anxiety, but she’s made huge progress in a sturdy crate setup and continues to improve every day.She currently lives with two large dogs (a Rottweiler and a Lab mix), and after slow introductions, she’s now happily playing with both of them. She may enjoy having another confident dog in the home to help continue building her confidence.Willa has been around children as well. She does well with a 5-year-old, but younger toddlers can make her a little nervous because of their quick movements. She’s curious and interested, just still learning. With new adults, Willa can be a bit reserved at first, but once she warms up, she becomes incredibly loving and loyal. She’s only been in foster care for a few weeks and is already making wonderful progress and showing more of her personality every day.Willa is looking for a patient, active home that understands young dogs need guidance, structure, and consistency. In return, you’ll get a fun, affectionate companion who just wants to love and be loved. If you’re looking for a sweet shadow to join your adventures, Willa may be your perfect match All donation options, adoption applications, and important links are now in one place: https://linktr.ee/SrgdrrIf donating, please note who or what your donation is for.For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
LOCATION: Minden, LouisianaDOB: 06/15/2020Wilson is a very sweet, sensitive boy who is still learning that the world can be a safe place. He can be extremely skittish at first and tends to be especially fearful of unfamiliar men, though he warms up to women much more quickly. Despite his fears, Wilson has made incredible progress in foster care and continues to gain confidence every day.At home, Wilson is a gentle, goofy companion who loves affection and attention from the people he trusts. One of his favorite things to do is bury his head in your lap for love and cuddles. He also has an adorable habit of collecting and hoarding toys around the house. While he has playful moments, he is generally a calm, chill dog who is happy relaxing at home with his family.Wilson is also an incredibly sensitive soul. If he is touched unexpectedly, he may let out a dramatic scream because he startles easily. It happens much less now than it used to, but it can still happen occasionally. His foster lovingly calls him “WooWoo Willy,” and it’s just one of the many quirks that make him so endearing.Wilson does well with other dogs and has lived peacefully with several large dogs. He is also wonderful with cats. However, bunnies are not recommended. He has lived with children ages 4, 5, and 9 and does love them, though young children can make him nervous at times. Older, calmer kids who understand how to respect his space would likely be the best fit.Wilson is house trained, crate trained, rides well in the car, and walks nicely on leash. He knows basic commands like “sit” and “crate.” Because his instinct is always to flee when frightened, he has no reliable recall and will require a securely fenced yard at all times. He can be vocal when people or vehicles approach the home, so he would not be a good fit for apartment living. He is also very fearful during nail trims and currently goes to the vet for them.Wilson’s ideal home would be a quiet, patient environment with people who understand shy or traumatized dogs. Someone who works from home would be wonderful for him, as he thrives on consistency and feeling secure with his people nearby. After four years in foster care, Wilson has come such a long way, but he will likely always carry some emotional scars from his past. He needs a family willing to continue giving him the patience, understanding, and unconditional love he deserves.=========================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form!https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176Note: Wilson must be adopted locally OR the adopter must be willing to drive to pick him up. He is too skittish to go commercial or be handed off to multiple drivers. All donation options, adoption applications, and important links are available here:https://linktr.ee/SrgdrrIf donating, please note who or what your donation is for.For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
Meet BrunoLocation: McKinney, TXDOB: 9/13/20If you're looking for a gentle giant with an endless supply of love to give, Bruno may be your perfect match. This sweet Great Dane is incredibly affectionate and happiest when he's close to his people. Calm, easygoing, and full of joy, Bruno simply wants to be loved—and to love you right back.Bruno can experience a little separation anxiety and may whine briefly when someone leaves, but his excitement when they return says it all. He'll happily rest his head on your lap for pets and attention, and his enthusiastic tail wag is legendary—just don't stand behind him when he's happy!Bruno doesn't need a huge yard to be content. A fenced backyard provides plenty of room for him to stretch his legs, and he's more interested in spending time with his family than anything else. He's not much of a barker and has excellent house manners. He is housebroken, crate trained, walks nicely on a leash, rides well in the car, is comfortable using a doggy door, and is muzzle trained. At the veterinarian, Bruno wasn't a fan of having his legs manipulated during his examination or receiving vaccinations. Once a muzzle was placed on him, however, he remained calm and cooperative. His veterinarian was not concerned by his behavior, noting that after everything Bruno has been through, his reaction was understandable and that the muzzle simply helped him relax through the exam.Bruno currently lives with two Great Danes and a smaller Lab mix. While he gets along well with the other dogs, he tends to keep to himself. If another dog is pushy or bossy, Bruno simply walks away rather than engaging. He would likely thrive as an only dog or with a calm female companion. His foster home does not have cats, so his compatibility with them is unknown. However, he certainly enjoys watching—and chasing—the squirrels in the backyard, so a home without cats may be the safest choice.Bruno has lived happily with older teenagers and young adults and adores everyone he meets. Because of his size, he sometimes stands directly in front of people without realizing he's in the way, so families with very young children should keep that in mind.Bruno is highly food motivated and gets very excited at mealtime. When he first arrived, he tried to sample everyone else's dinner, but he quickly learned that each dog has their own bowl and now eats politely in his designated spot. He can be a bit of a counter surfer, so keeping food out of reach is recommended. Giving medication became easy once his foster family discovered hickory smoke-flavored pill pockets—they're his favorite!Health InformationHeartworm positive (treatment needed/ongoing).Small umbilical hernia that does not bother him and is not a concern according to his veterinarian.Previously had several teeth extracted before coming into foster care; his veterinarian is pleased with his current dental health. When it's time to relax, Bruno is happy sleeping on the floor beside your bed, on a rug, or in his open crate. He doesn't try to claim the furniture—he simply wants to be close to his people.Bruno's ideal home is one where he'll be cherished as part of the family. He isn't looking for anything fancy—just someone who will shower him with affection and let him return it tenfold. If you're ready for a loyal, loving shadow with a heart as big as he is, Bruno is waiting to meet you.===============================================================================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match!
