Story
LOCATION: Minden, LouisianaDOB: 06/15/2020Wilson is a very sweet, sensitive boy who is still learning that the world can be a safe place. He can be extremely skittish at first and tends to be especially fearful of unfamiliar men, though he warms up to women much more quickly. Despite his fears, Wilson has made incredible progress in foster care and continues to gain confidence every day.At home, Wilson is a gentle, goofy companion who loves affection and attention from the people he trusts. One of his favorite things to do is bury his head in your lap for love and cuddles. He also has an adorable habit of collecting and hoarding toys around the house. While he has playful moments, he is generally a calm, chill dog who is happy relaxing at home with his family.Wilson is also an incredibly sensitive soul. If he is touched unexpectedly, he may let out a dramatic scream because he startles easily. It happens much less now than it used to, but it can still happen occasionally. His foster lovingly calls him “WooWoo Willy,” and it’s just one of the many quirks that make him so endearing.Wilson does well with other dogs and has lived peacefully with several large dogs. He is also wonderful with cats. However, bunnies are not recommended. He has lived with children ages 4, 5, and 9 and does love them, though young children can make him nervous at times. Older, calmer kids who understand how to respect his space would likely be the best fit.Wilson is house trained, crate trained, rides well in the car, and walks nicely on leash. He knows basic commands like “sit” and “crate.” Because his instinct is always to flee when frightened, he has no reliable recall and will require a securely fenced yard at all times. He can be vocal when people or vehicles approach the home, so he would not be a good fit for apartment living. He is also very fearful during nail trims and currently goes to the vet for them.Wilson’s ideal home would be a quiet, patient environment with people who understand shy or traumatized dogs. Someone who works from home would be wonderful for him, as he thrives on consistency and feeling secure with his people nearby. After four years in foster care, Wilson has come such a long way, but he will likely always carry some emotional scars from his past. He needs a family willing to continue giving him the patience, understanding, and unconditional love he deserves.=========================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form!https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176Note: Wilson must be adopted locally OR the adopter must be willing to drive to pick him up. He is too skittish to go commercial or be handed off to multiple drivers. All donation options, adoption applications, and important links are available here:https://linktr.ee/SrgdrrIf donating, please note who or what your donation is for.For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
LOCATION: Etters, PADOB: 07/19/2019Bubba is a gentle, sensitive Great Dane who is still learning that people can be kind. When he first arrived, he was timid and cautious, clearly carrying the weight of a rough past. Over time, he has started to show his sweet and goofy sides, especially when he’s with other dogs. Bubba feels most comfortable when he has canine friends around—he is respectful and playful with dogs of all ages and sizes, and he truly blossoms when he has a companion by his side.Outdoors is his happy place. He loves to roam the yard, run with the other dogs, or quietly watch the world from behind a shed or in his dog house. Indoors is harder for him, but he finds comfort in his kennel and sleeps peacefully through the night. Each morning feels like a fresh start, and with patience, you’ll see him warm up again as the day goes on. Bubba has even begun to find his voice—sometimes howling when left outside alone at night or “talking” at the back door when he wants some company.Despite his shyness, Bubba has the most tender personality. He leans into back scratches, runs and plays with a horse-like gait, and surprises his foster family with little glimpses of silliness that will make you smile. He startles easily with loud noises or sudden movements, and he isn’t a fan of car rides, but he tolerates them when needed. He’s still learning to trust people and may never be a dog who cuddles on the couch, but his gentle spirit and quiet presence are deeply endearing.Bubba is crate-trained, learning leash skills, and doing well with the routine at his foster home. He hasn’t shown much interest in chickens and may be fine with cats, though he hasn’t lived with them. He would do best in a calm home with no small children, a securely fenced yard, and another friendly dog to help him feel safe. His ideal family will be patient, understanding, and willing to let him progress at his own pace.If you’re looking for a dog who will touch your heart with his resilience, reward your kindness with trust, and bring gentle joy to your days, Bubba is waiting for you.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
LOCATION: Conroe, TXDOB: 12/16/2020Ozzy is a gentle, easygoing soul with the calm presence of an old friend. He’s quiet, observant, and incredibly relaxed—so much so that he hasn’t barked once since coming into foster care. Routine is his comfort zone, and consistency helps him feel safe and settled. Once Ozzy knows what to expect, he melts right into the rhythm of the home and becomes a steady, peaceful companion. His energy level is firmly couch-potato status. Ozzy prefers a cozy day indoors over busy outings, and low activity suits him perfectly. He’s not one to demand entertainment—he’s happiest lounging nearby, covered up with his beloved tortilla blanket, quietly soaking in the world around him. A fenced yard is plenty for his needs, and walks are still a work in progress as he continues to build confidence.Ozzy is affectionate in a gentle, understated way. He doesn’t mind cuddling with kids or adults and blends seamlessly into family life, offering just the right amount of love without being overwhelming. He absolutely loves car rides and is always happy to tag along. When it comes to treats, chicken feet and pumpkin are his favorites, and food is a great motivator for him. He can be a little stubborn—if Ozzy doesn’t want to move, he’ll politely but firmly stand his ground—but it’s more endearing than challenging. He is fully house trained, does well in a crate, rides calmly in the car, and is muzzle trained. Leash manners are hit-or-miss, and he may refuse to walk if he’s feeling unsure. Ozzy can be fearful of thunderstorms, rain, high winds, fireworks, loud noises, nighttime, and new environments. During bad weather, he needs reassurance and someone willing to cuddle him until he feels safe again.Ozzy has done well meeting other dogs and was friendly and kind when introduced to a large dog. He currently lives with a cat and has occasionally lunged toward them but has never shown aggression, and both largely coexist without issue. He has been around many children of all ages at once, including toddlers and babies. While he has tolerated climbing, pulling, and cuddling with remarkable patience, he has given a single growl as a warning when physically hurt—never escalating beyond that. He has also remained calm and unbothered by adult strangers entering the home, even during the middle of the night.Medically, Ozzy has some growths on his elbows, is undergoing heartworm treatment, takes joint supplements, has a limp in his front leg, is still underweight, and is missing his top front row of teeth. He has spent much of his foster time healing, and there are likely many joys and activities he has yet to discover once he’s feeling his best.Ozzy’s ideal home would be calm and loving, preferably with adults or one to two children, though he can adapt to busier households. He thrives when he’s part of daily life and would do best with someone who is home often. A low-energy household without stairs, with good lighting and a fully gated yard, would suit him well—he can be curious about slipping under fences. Above all, Ozzy needs a home that values routine, patience, and companionship, and someone who will cherish his quiet, steady presence. He is an old soul ready to be deeply loved.=========================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form!https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Story
Meet Chloe Sunshine Location: Boerne, TXDOB: 06/06/2018Chloe Sunshine is a beautiful Great Dane mix whose journey is a true testament to resilience, healing, and the power of love. She came into rescue after surviving on her own in a remote area of Texas, where she had to be humanely trapped just to receive help. Before that, she endured distemper, which left her with a small facial and mouth tic that doesn’t bother her one bit. When Chloe was rescued, she was malnourished, exhausted, and pregnant. Tragically, her puppies did not survive, and she required emergency surgery to save her life. During her recovery, she was spayed and had several damaged teeth removed—likely worn down from trying to escape confinement. With proper care, nourishment, and rest, Chloe slowly began her journey toward healing. When she first entered foster care, Chloe was completely shut down and terrified of people. Given a quiet, safe space and the freedom to move at her own pace, she began to take small, brave steps forward. The presence of other dogs helped her tremendously, showing her that she was safe and allowing her to learn how to trust again.Today, Chloe Sunshine is a completely different dog. She has blossomed into a joyful, curious, and playful girl who is learning to embrace life. She absolutely thrives with other dogs—playing, wrestling, and taking comfort in their companionship—so a home with a confident canine friend would be ideal for her.Chloe loves her toys and will happily toss them in the air to entertain herself. Mealtime and park time are her favorite parts of the day, and her excitement is contagious. She enjoys chewing on bones, sunbathing in the yard, using the doggy door, and is always ready for a car ride adventure. She shows affection in the sweetest ways—leaning in for chest and neck scratches, offering little bows, and greeting her people with an adorable happy dance that perfectly matches her name.Chloe has shown she can adapt to new environments and continue building trust, but she will thrive in a patient, gentle home that understands her past and is committed to continuing her journey. She deserves a family who will celebrate her progress, respect her pace, and give her the love and security she has always needed. After everything she’s been through, Chloe Sunshine is no longer just surviving—she’s truly living. Now, she’s ready to share that sunshine with a family of her own.=========================To apply to adopt Chloe Sunshine, please fill out the application form:https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match.Explore more adoptable dogs at saverockythegreatdane.org/adoptFor more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org. Story
Meet TrooperLocation: Waco, TXDOB: 2/14/22Trooper is a big goofball with a sweet, loving personality and an average energy level. One of his favorite things is playing with his canine friends—he absolutely loves having another dog around and would thrive in a home with a playful companion. When playtime is over, Trooper is all about cuddles. He loves relaxing on the couch with his people, but he's also respectful of your space. If you're not in the mood to snuggle, he'll happily settle down on the other end of the couch.Trooper is house-trained, crate-trained, leash-trained, rides well in the car, and is comfortable wearing a muzzle. He's currently living with several medium and large dogs and does very well with them.Trooper also lives with cats. Most of the time he ignores them or gives them a quick sniff, but he can become interested if they suddenly run, so supervision is recommended around cats.He has done wonderfully with children. He currently lives with a 12-year-old boy and has been gentle and affectionate with him. He has also met a 3-month-old baby, whom he politely sniffed and then walked away from, and he did great with 4-year-old twins, happily giving them kisses. Based on his experiences, he would likely do well in a home with respectful children.Trooper's biggest challenge is that he is initially fearful of men. When scared, he may bark, growl, and keep his distance, which can sometimes be mistaken for aggression. However, with slow, patient introductions and time to build trust, he becomes much more comfortable. He is especially affectionate and confident around women.Trooper is a kind, loyal dog who just needs understanding, patience, and a few furry friends by his side. If you're looking for a loving companion with a goofy personality and a big heart, Trooper may be the perfect match. ❤️🐾===============================================================================To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match!
