Story
Bear is 3 years old. We got him from our friend's oops litter. Unfortunately, we no longer have time or energy for him at this point in our life; both work full-time out of the home and have 2 small kids. Bear gets along with people of all ages (although he is not aware of how big or strong is he.) He is content to be a couch potato but is also always ready to run and play with you. He will always greet you at the door to welcome you home. He would do best in a home with an experienced owner. He is reactive towards other animals and does have a prey drive as well.

Story
Poor Daisy was dumped across the street from her foster moms’ house on Easter Sunday. They watched the car drive away with her chasing behind, but she gave up pretty quickly and started sniffing around to try to figure out where she was. Daisy’s panic was cut short when her foster moms scooped her up and took her to their home. She was skin and bones, all ribs, hips, and vertebra plainly visible, with scabs and sores all over. She tested positive for heartworm and hookworm. Her foster moms are working closely with their vet to get her healthy for her forever home. Daisy is a big girl - at 50 lbs emaciated, she’ll likely be 70-80 once she’s filled out. She is estimated to be 4-5 years old. She quickly fell in love with her foster moms and wants to be as close to them as possible at all times. She’s working on the concept of “personal space” but hasn’t quite grasped it yet. She gets along well with the resident dogs and cats but needs to be leashed around the outside animals (chickens, goats, horses, etc). Because she was starved, she does have some resource guarding issues with food and currently needs to be fed in a crate. She walks amazingly on a loose leash with her 3 foster brothers. She is house trained and is working on crate training. She has not yet been tested with children but with proper introduction, her foster moms expect she would be fine, though she might knock them over trying to get pets. As underweight as she is, she’s still pretty strong! Daisy loves tug of war and is learning about every other way she can have fun. We’ll continue to update her bio as we get to know her better.April 22, 2024, 11:53 pm

Story
Grey is a super sweet full breed Great Dane. She will be 10-years old in August and normally Great Danes have a life span of 8 years. She was a runt and runts seem to live longer. As a runt she’s a little smaller than normal female Danes as she weighs about 100 lbs. Grey has PLENTY of life left. She’s very active for her age. We’ve had her since she was 12 weeks old and it is heartbreaking that we have to look for another home for her. We’re selling our house and making some life changes that won’t allow us to keep her.

Meet Nitro! If you're looking for a playful, active, mischievous, cuddly dog, Nitro's the best furry friend for you! Nitro is house trained and is happy to report back limited accidents, and he's very good at becoming friends with other dogs. Nitro is the perfect walking buddy-he rarely pulls, barks, or does anything other than explore. If you have a chew stick, Nitro will walk right up to you and cuddle you in an attempt to bribe you for it! Nitro also has some of the best zoomies his foster's have ever seen. He loves doing figure eights through their backyard at top speed. Nitro would definitely do best in a more active home, he is very energetic and needs multiple walks a day and really enjoys his weekly hikes. He thrives on consistency and would do best with someone who has a set schedule so that he knows exactly how his day will go. Take Nitro home today!

Story
This is Wednesday. She is a 3-year-old harlequin Great Dane. She is spayed and current on all vaccinations. She loves everyone. Well trained. Has lots of energy. She is in need of a new home because she is a big leaner, which is not a good thing when you have elderly people in the house. If interested in giving the sweet girl, a new home, please go to our website and fill out the adoption application. www.pawsofaustin.org

Story
Charlie is one of two Great Danes that were rescued from an abandoned home. He was left in the yard during the cold freezing weather without food or water. Luckily the police stepped in and he was removed and brought in to our rescue. Charlie is a beautiful harlequin Great Dane. He is estimated to be about a year old. He is on the small size of the breed, probably due to poor nutrition and lack of care. Charlie gets along with other dogs. Charlie is neutered and he is current on all vaccinations. Unfortunately he is HW+ (like most the dogs we get from South Texas), but started the treatment. If you'd like to give this sweet boy a new home, please go to our website and fill out the adoption application.
