Story
Thor is a one-year-old Great Dane and Lab mix weighing 71 pounds, and his story already reads like the opening scene of a movie. Found running loose through a Tennessee neighborhood, this big, beautiful boy was moments away from tragedy when fate—and a young dog lover—stepped in. Twice Thor ran in front of her car, and instead of driving on, she stopped, opened her door, and called to him. Without hesitation, Thor leapt into the back seat as if he knew his life was about to change. And it did.   With no collar and no microchip, Thor became part of Critter Cavalry Rescue and stayed with the very woman who saved him. From the moment he was safe, his true nature began to shine. Thor is strikingly handsome, with chiseled features and expressive ears that nearly stand straight up, giving him a regal, alert look—like a show dog who wandered off the Westminster runway and into a superhero origin story.   But don’t let the model looks fool you. Thor is pure joy wrapped in a giant puppy body. He tosses toys into the air, pounces on squeaky treasures, and delights in balls and stuffed animals with the enthusiasm of a dog who is still discovering how fun life can be. He doesn’t quite realize how big or strong he is yet, but his heart is gentle and his spirit is eager.   Thor is intelligent, focused, and deeply people-oriented. When you work with him, he locks onto you completely, especially if treats are involved, which makes training both effective and fun. He is wonderful with other dogs, showing no dominance or alpha behavior, just friendly curiosity and easygoing charm. Recently neutered, Thor is still growing and will likely fill out into a solid 90-pound adult over the next year.   He is housebroken and currently learning that being alone doesn’t mean being abandoned, as crates aren’t quite his favorite place. Thor simply loves people and wants to be near them, soaking in companionship and reassurance. His liver-and-black coat shifts with the sunlight, turning heads wherever he goes, and making him unforgettable long after he’s passed by.   Thor is the kind of dog who comes into your life once and leaves a permanent mark on your heart. He is waiting for someone to guide him, shape him, and grow with him into the extraordinary companion he is clearly meant to be.     If you are interested in making this big boy a big part of your life please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Tell us where you live, city and state.   We adopt to Tennessee where our rescue is based and he is being fostered, but we also transport to the Northeast   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 11, 2026, 12:09 am

Story
Roo is a 2–3 year old Blue Merle Great Dane adult who weighs 85 pounds and was found abandoned by a well-known lake in Tennessee.  Someone rescued her from this terrible fate of no food or clean water and no place to be as she was wandering around the lake area very skinny and starved.  She was so grateful when someone took her home.  She then had different people foster her only for a few days at a time until this wonderful family saw her plight and need and said.....let us take her and foster her with a good rescue group.  Now this big girl named Roo has some stability in her life and has earned the nickname “Velcro dog.”  Of course this lost and abandoned girl who was deserted by a lake and then bounced a few times, wants to be right by your side and soak up every ounce of love and attention you’re willing to give her.  She will learn one day that noone is ever going to abandon her again.  This athletic girl has plenty of energy, loves to play with a happy spirit and and is an impressive olympic class jumper. She will thrive best in an active home.  Food definitely motivates her and this makes it super easy to train her and get her undivided attention. Roo is house-trained, crate-trained, cat-friendly, and absolutely loves to snuggle in the bed with her humans.    Roo bonds quickly and becomes very protective of her people so we will have tips on how to temper that zealous enthusiasm to claim you. She needs a family where she can be the queen of the castle and receive endless love and attention in return. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will stick by you through everything, Roo is your girl!       Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  She is currently fostered in Tennessee and can be adopted locally and also can transport to a loving family that is northeast of Tennessee.  We transport almost weekly on the weekends.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 29, 2026, 1:14 pm

Apple Jacks, Froot Loops, and Cap`n Crunch are in a Foster home together. Notes from Foster: Fruit loops is the most nervous of these three, and it takes her a long time to get comfortable with people. Once she does, she’s very affectionate! She doesn’t love being picked up, but loves playing and will always sleep on you.

Notes from her foster family!`Cocoa Puffs is a very affectionate and playful pup. She loves to jump around a dance with you. She also prefers to sleep in your arms, but will settle for an oversized pillow. She loves to snuggle and play tug. She sits and waits patiently when you get her food ready, but is a fast eater.`

Story
Meet Olive! Olive is a sweet and floppy girl that is ready to find her forever home! Olive came to us with her babies from not the greatest of conditions, but that has not stopped her from being super affectionate and wanting to be a self-proclaimed lap dog. Olive has been able to spend some time in a foster home and has completely come out of her shell! She can be a little protective over her food around other animals so feeding separately will be best for her. Being a Great Dane, she is more susceptible to medical issues such as bloat, so she will need her food given to her ideally in an elevated food bowl to help her digest it better. Olive will need help with her basic training like potty training and manners. Olive has been around other dogs and loves to have a playmate she can wrestle and run around with. When meeting new people or animal friends, slow introductions are best to make sure they become BFFs. Olive has met cats previously and ignores them for the most part, but can also become interested. We are recommending Olive goes home with a canine companion to help keep her company. She will need to meet any dogs already in the home prior to adoption though. Olive can be a little destructive and vocal when she`s bored or alone so someone that is able to be home with her is ideal. Olive is a big lanky girl that tends to not know her own size so children that are dog savvy and understand her boundaries will be a perfect fit. She will most likely need a single-family style home with a secured fenced in yard because she has hopped a 6 foot fence previously. Additionally, we are requiring that Olive`s new family are not first-time dog owners due to her breed and some anxiety. If you think Olive is the one for you a Kennel Technician will be happy to help!*Adopters should be aware of breed and size restrictions if renting*

Story
Meet Sally! This sweet girl and her siblings were brought to us some time ago via one of our shelter partners. These guys have had a rough start in life, but have been nothing short of loving and playful puppies. They are now ready to find their forever homes after being in the care of our Nursery team and spending some time in foster homes. Sally interacted and met some bigger dogs in her foster home and had a blast! She is a typical puppy, meaning she is naturally curious, playful, affectionate and a little mischievous. Sally would do well with a canine friend in the home or to have someone keep her company throughout the day - most puppies get bored when they don`t get to burn off their puppy energy! We always ask adopters to do slow introductions when meeting new animals or people and to keep initial interactions short and sweet. Overall, if you are looking for a sweet girl to adopt and have her live her best life, Sally just might be the one for you! If you are interested in meeting Sally or one of her siblings, please ask a Kennel technician for assistance and any inquiries you have!***If applicable, please check with leasing offices/landlords/HOAs for both breed AND weight restrictions. We are unsure how big these cuties will be once fully grown, but puppies tend to grow until they are around a year old or so.***
