Story
Hey everyone! My name is Cleo and I am looking for my forever home. I like some animals, but would do best in a home with no other pets. I do not like to share my toys or food with other animals (that's probably from the plot hound in me!) I know I am a taller girl, but I still love to just cuddle up and be with my family. I LOVE going for long walks, hiking in the woods is the BEST! I also enjoy playing fetch and giving hugs. I am pretty insecure, so I really need someone that has the time to show me I am safe and not coming back to the shelter. I love the shelter staff, but I do not like the loud barking from the other dogs - it really scares me. I give hugs as a way to seek comfort, reassurance, and get a sense of safety from you. I am spayed and up to date on my vaccinations.  I will make a lovely companion and a great addition to any family. I need a home with older kids over the age of 13.  January 14, 2026, 4:53 pm

Story
Meet Remington 💙 1.5-year-old Blue Merle Great Dane | Male | ~120 lbs Remington is a big, beautiful, happy-go-lucky Great Dane who’s ready to finally enjoy life the way a young Dane should. With his stunning blue merle coat and joyful personality, he’s the kind of dog who makes people smile the moment they meet him. True to his age, Remington is playful, curious, and full of enthusiasm. He loves attention, seeks out affection, and is always eager to be part of whatever his people are doing. He’s a friendly, social boy who enjoys meeting new people and soaks up praise like a sponge. If you’re looking for a Dane who wants to be with you — not just near you — Remington fits the bill. Remington has done well around other dogs and enjoys playful interactions, especially with dogs who match his youthful energy. He doesn’t show possessive behavior with toys or treats and prefers positive, structured environments where everyone can relax and enjoy each other. Like many young dogs, he’s still learning the ropes and benefits from clear routines and gentle guidance. Because Remington didn’t always get the consistency and engagement every growing Dane deserves, he’s now getting the chance to truly shine. With regular meals, attention, and daily interaction, he’s already showing how much potential he has. He’s the kind of dog who will thrive as he continues to gain strength, confidence, and stability — and watching that transformation is incredibly rewarding. Remington would love a home that: Enjoys an affectionate, people-oriented Great Dane Can provide daily companionship, exercise, and basic training Appreciates a dog who is still very much in his “young and goofy” phase Does not have free-roaming poultry (he has shown interest in chickens) Remington is a sweet, fun-loving Dane who simply needed a chance to be more than a background dog. Now that he has it, he’s ready to give his whole heart to a family of his own. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, a playful companion, and a Dane who’s excited to finally be included, Remington may be your perfect match. Story
Meet Tex – Your Perfect Laid-Back Companion 🐾 Tex is an 8-year-old gentleman with a calm, easygoing personality who is now under the care of MAGDRL. He is currently being boarded while we search for a loving foster or forever home where he can enjoy the comfort he deserves. Tex has a true “old soul” demeanor. He lives for affection and will happily soak up pets for as long as you’re willing to give them. His favorite place is near an open window where he can bask in the sunshine and relax the day away. While he’s not overly playful, he does enjoy the occasional burst of zoomies that show off his fun side. He ignores other dogs, does well in a kennel environment, and is comfortable with non-dominant male dogs. Tex previously lived peacefully with a 9-year-old female Mastiff mix. He is crate trained, though he hasn’t needed a crate in years, and he does not have separation anxiety—making him an easy addition to a home. Tex is now in a foster home in NJ and is doing great with his Dane foster sister. Tex is a sweet senior boy who just wants to be loved and cuddled, a wonderful companion for a quiet home. He will do best with female dogs. Tex is trustworthy in the house, does great in the car or on a leash. He is crate trained but has proven he doesn't need to be crated if left unsupervised. Tex is such a gentle old soul, if you want to give a senior a place to live out their golden years, Tex is the boy for you!. If interested, Please contact Chelsea at chelsea9049@yahoo.com. Tex is located in Prince William County, VA Please include your home area code and a phone number where a volunteer can reach you when contacting us about an adoption. PENDING ADOPTION 🩷 Phoebe – Gentle, Resilient, and Learning to Shine Phoebe’s story is one of quiet strength and second chances. This 1½-year-old beauty came to MAGDRL in rough shape after being severely underweight and neglected, but her gentle heart never faltered. From the moment she arrived, Phoebe has shown herself to be sweet, curious, and eager to please. Now safe in her foster home, Phoebe is blossoming. She enjoys the company of other dogs, does well with cats, and is kind and patient with children. She’s playful, affectionate, and surprisingly well-adjusted for all she’s been through. Phoebe will make a wonderful companion for an active home where she can continue learning about the joys of indoor life and being loved. It won't be much longer before Phoebe is ready to meet her forever family! Please include your home area code and a phone number where a volunteer can reach you when contacting us about an adoption. Story
Scout is scouting out his new forever home! He came to us on some unfortunate circumstances... he had shown up on someone's doorstep after being shot in the shoulder. Thankfully, it was a pretty clean wound and he's on the mend. Now, he needs a home that he can fully heal and prosper. Scout is a very large, strong dog. He will need a handler that can walk him and handle his strength. He seems to get along with other dogs, though we'd recommend a proper introduction. We can cat test him upon request! To learn more about Scout, come see us at 513 Shelter Road in Fayetteville, WV or apply online at fayettecountyanimalshelterwv.com.
