Story
Our good guy Cecil is sure hoping someone will notice him and want to come rescue him from his kennel! Cecil isn’t one to complain, but the truth of the matter is he is a big guy and the kennels of the Charleston Dog Shelter are not built for “big and tall” guys. Cecil is 90+ pounds and not exactly a tea cup dog when it comes to height. Cecil is good natured about it all though and is really just happy to have a safe space to sleep, eat, and relax. A younger adult of approximately 2-3 years old, Cecil is a calm, chill dude and gets along well with other dogs, especially the ladies and friendly younger males. We think his mix is border collie and pyraneese. Such a loving, beautiful dog of a lifetime available for adoption!

Story
I’m having to move from house I’ve been renting. I got Sam as a pup and have raised him since then. He has a good personality and loves interaction with people. He has been raised with another dog that I also need to rehome. They have been together for two years and get along well. Sam hasn’t been around any children so I don’t know how he will be around kids.

Story
Hello my name is Boo, I am a 2.5 year pyrenees/put/lab mutt. I am very loyal and would great in a one person house with a dog friend or as a lone companion. I am a healthy boy who is up to date on all my shots and vaccines. I am house trained and I know my basic commands such as sit, stay, and I come running when you call my name! I don't get tired on the leash so I will need a large yard with a tall fence or somewhere rural or woodsy. I get nervous meeting new people and new dogs so Intentional introductions work best. I am great at relaxing after I have had plenty of exercise. I have A LOT of love to give, and I am looking for someone who is ready to love and be loved fully!

Story
Mack exudes loyalty and dedication, coupled with a heart of gold. Despite his rugged exterior, he possesses a remarkably gentle and affectionate nature, particularly with those he holds dear. Highly intelligent and perceptive, Mack remains ever-watchful and prepared to safeguard his flock at all costs. His penchant for routine and structure renders him an exemplary companion for individuals experienced in handling livestock guardian dogs.Having cohabitated with birds, he has displayed promise in adapting to his working dog role. Although lacking extensive professional exposure, Mack is eager to acquire knowledge and stands poised to excel under the guidance of an experienced LGD owner. As a solitary working dog, Mack requires an owner capable of providing the necessary training and support. Flourishing in environments where his purpose is clear, he finds fulfillment in protecting his charges. Adequate socialization and exposure to diverse livestock are imperative to ensure Mack's comfort and effectiveness in his role.:Mack thrives in a rural setting, with ample space to fulfill his duties as a vigilant guardian. An experienced owner attuned to the nuances of LGDs would provide him with the guidance and structure necessary for optimal development. Mack's preference for working solo makes him best suited as the sole guardian on the property, enabling him to dedicate himself entirely to his responsibilities.Big Paws of the Ozarks is a foster-based dog rescue in Northwest Arkansas. We require an approved adoption application on file before scheduling meets with our dogs. You can find the application here (www.bigpawsozarks.org/adoption-application).
