Story
Fluffnugget Male | ~10 months old | 28 lbs   Fluffnugget is one of our younger pups and is still very much a work-in-progress. He came from a rough start and we believe he may be inbred, which has contributed to his challenges with handling and confidence.   At this time, Fluffnugget does not enjoy being handled and will need a significant amount of patient, consistent socialization. Picking him up was a wrestling match, and he made it very clear that hands-on interaction is currently stressful for him. Because of this, a no-kids home is a must.   With other dogs, Fluffnugget will likely do okay, though he can be a bit bossy with his littermates — something we often see in young pups who haven’t yet learned appropriate social skills. A calm, confident dog in the home may help guide him, but slow introductions will be important.   Fluffnugget is not a beginner dog. He needs an experienced, understanding adopter who is willing to give him the time, structure, and space he needs to build trust at his own pace. With the right environment and a lot of patience, this little guy has the potential to grow — but he will require commitment and realistic expectations.   If you’re someone who believes in the underdogs and understands that progress doesn’t happen overnight, Fluffnugget may be the challenge you’re ready for. ##2629282##

Story
MEET LARRY AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION   Great Pyrenees | Part of the 90-Dog New Mexico Hoarding Case   Larry is a survivor of the 90-dog hoarding case in New Mexico, and he carries the deepest emotional scars. Larry is not aggressive — he is fearful and very shut down.   He will require an exceptionally patient, experienced home that understands non social to people kind of dogs. Larry is still learning that humans can be safe, and his progress happens slowly — in inches, not yards.   This is not a dog for someone looking for quick affection. Larry needs a quiet, low-pressure home where he is allowed to move at his own pace, with no expectations placed on him beyond safety and consistency.   Larry needs: Very experienced adopter Quiet, low-stress environment Secure fencing Time — lots of it   Not for first-time dog owners Not suitable for busy or high-traffic homes Not a livestock guardian dog   Available for adoption, foster-to-adopt, or rescue transfer Apply at www.denkaisanctuary.org/adopt Questions? 970-217-1457 ##2629264##

Story
Available for Adoption, Foster, Rescue Transfer   Name: David Age: 2 years Breed: Great Pyrenees Mix Weight: approx 60 lbs   He Wants to Trust You. He Just Needs Time.   He is very shy… but oh, does he want to be your friend.   This sweet boy absolutely loves people — he just hasn’t quite figured out how to navigate the world yet. He has not been on a leash up to this point in his life, but he is incredibly smart and eager to connect. You can see it in his eyes. He leans in. He tries. He just needs someone who understands that trust isn’t rushed — it’s built.   He is part of the over 100 Great Pyrenees rescued from a local hoarding case and he is now one of only two adult dogs left still waiting for placement.   Imagine surviving that kind of life… and still choosing kindness. That’s him.   He will need: • A patient, calm home • A secure yard • Someone willing to allow slow acclimation • A person who understands shy/undersocialized dogs • Zero pressure — just consistency and kindness   If you can continue his socialization without pushing him beyond his limits… if you understand that progress may come in inches, not miles… if you believe the quiet ones are worth the work…   Please reach out.   He is friendly. He is trying. He just needs someone to finish what rescue started.   Visit our website to fill out the proper application: www.denkaisanctuary.org/adopt ##2651048##

Story
Meet Lovey  Lovey is one of the newest rescues from the Bloomfield Pyrenees hoarding case, and her story is both heartbreaking and hopeful. At just about a year old herself, this sweet girl is still a puppy — yet she’s already caring for her six tiny babies, who are only 4–5 weeks old. Lovey came to us extremely scared and unsure of the world. Life hasn’t been kind or gentle to her so far, and it shows in her cautious eyes. But despite everything she’s been through, she is a devoted, attentive mama who never stops watching over her pups. The good news: Lovey and her babies are now safe in a loving foster home where they’re warm, protected, and together. With each passing day, she’s beginning to decompress and learn that she’s finally out of survival mode. She will need time, patience, and a calm environment to continue building trust and confidence — but she is absolutely worth the effort. Lovey’s journey is just beginning. Right now her job is raising her puppies and learning that people can be kind. In the coming weeks, we’ll continue to support her as she grows braver and starts her next chapter toward the life she deserves.   Stay tuned for updates on Lovey and her little ones. ##2650831##

Story
Little Luna still has no place to call home… could you be her person? Luna is shy and will need gentle, patient socialization — but she is so sweet. She will come up for nose boops and treats, and with the right person, we know she’s going to blossom. She currently weighs about 25 pounds, much of that due to past malnourishment. We’ve already seen how quickly these “little ones” thrive once they have consistent food, safety, and love — it truly doesn’t take long for them to shine. One of Luna’s siblings has already gone into a foster home and integrated beautifully with children, showing just how sweet and adaptable these pups can be. That said, please understand:  • Luna does not yet walk on a leash • She is unfamiliar with a collar • She will need slow, thoughtful integration into her new homeBecause of this, a securely fenced yard is required, along with a clear plan to help her adjust at her own pace. Interested in fostering or adopting? Please fill out an application at www.denkaisanctuary.org/adopt We also need help to continue this rescue effort. Our grant funding is about to run out, and there are still many dogs who need care. This rescue is budgeted at approximately $80,000, and we could truly use some backing right now. If you’re able to contribute, donations can be made here: PayPal Giving Fund:https://www.paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/2073123 Venmo:https://venmo.com/u/Denkai-AnimalSanctuary Donate via our website:www.denkaisanctuary.org Every single dollar helps us keep going — and keeps dogs like Luna safe while they wait for their person.Thank you for being part of our village. — Denkai Animal Sanctuary ##2629273##

Chai feels safest when she knows her people have her back, and in return, she gives her whole heart. Chai is the kind of dog who forms deep, meaningful bonds. Because of that strong bond, Chai can be a little protective of her people.
