Hi, I'm Sam. I'm a very sweet dog and super laidback. I take life one moment at a time. Why worry about tomorrow, it'll only get in the way of enjoying today! I was found by a couple in the Fillmore area. I went right to them and they brought me here. It was discovered that I had some type of accident with my tail. I may have sustained some nerve damage because I have a hard time knowing when "I've got to go." As a result, I must be an outside dog only. Those wanting to adopt me must ensure I have some shelter from the extreme weather, a doghouse with straw in the winter and shade in the summer. I don't like being alone so a place where I have a buddy is ideal.

Walter Lee McFluff is a young Great Pyrenees puppy with all the charm, sweetness, and goofball energy this breed is famous for. As a true working-breed pup, he’ll thrive with an adopter who understands GP personalities — thoughtful, always up for a job or task, observant, independent, and incredibly loyal once they bond. Walter came to us when he was found curled up in front of someone’s apartment door. The finder left to go to work and returned to find Walter still curled up, waiting for him. While the finder was unable to keep Walter, as apartment living isn’t conducive to a dog like Walter, he did everything to find his owners. When no one came forward that’s when Melissa’s Second Chances stepped up to help this gentle guy. Despite his future “majestic guardian dog” status, right now Walter is all puppy: adorably clumsy, soft as a cloud, and friendly with absolutely everyone. He loves people and other dogs, though he’s naturally a bit timid and not the super snuggly type (at least not yet!). He takes cues and corrections well and has done great around both big and small dogs. He also shows zero interest in rabbits — a polite king! 🛏 Home & Training • Crate trained and sleeps all through the night (8 hours!) • Pretty potty trained! He’s mastered #2 outside but may let out a little excited pee during greetings. At his age he will still need someone who understands and can continue puppy potty training. • Takes direction beautifully and wants to learn • Still discovering how to coordinate those giant puppy paws 🌳 Ideal Home Walter is a growing GP, so space and structure are key. Elsa is an extremely sweet girl who has been a fantastic member of our family. She was raised in an in-home preschool and is incredible around kids. She loves to play with her sister, a golden doodle and has never had any issues with her. Unfortunately right around the time her breed traits started to develop, my wife was recovering from a hip surgery and I broke my leg/dislocated my ankle. We have not been able to properly control her barking or independent desire to stay in the backyard. If it weren’t for our injuries we’d be able to properly train her and keep the breed traits under control, but we can’t. She will make an incredible companion for anyone who wants lots of love and cuddles and a pet who will always be vigilant protecting their home, or for someone who has land/livestock.

🪿Introducing Goose🪿 Goose is a female Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix. She was taken in by a person who didn’t want her to be euthanized when her original owner needed to get rid of her, but that person took on more than she could handle and asked for help. She is a super sweet girl who still acts like a puppy. We are thinking she is between 1-2 years old. She has never been a working dog, she has only known soft couches and chairs and the indoors. Yes she loves the outdoors, but she just wants to be where her people are. She’ll become your shadow and she is not ashamed to beg for food or attention. She does have a problem hovering near other dogs when they are eating, so know it may be best to separate Goose and any other animals when they eat. Goose does jump, we are trying to work with her. So we believe she would do best with older kiddos in case she forgets her size, unless you are willing to work with her and not give up on her. She does know “sit” and since she is super food motivated, we think she’d do great with more basic training. Goose has been in a home with small dogs, big dogs, and cats. She sometimes chased the cats, but never tried to hurt them, she just wants to play. Most of the dogs were older and they didn’t appreciate her rough housing. We wanted to get her pretty face out there, as the noisy kennel is already stressing her out. She is heartworm negative and just needs microchipped once we find her furever family.
