Story
CUDDLES is a gorgeous Great Pyrenees mix with a beautiful fluffy coat and just 9 months olds (~DOB 3/10/25 - in case we don't update this listing and he's with us a bit). Cuddles is more shy and needs a little patience when he meets new people, and we're saying he needs to go to a home with another confident dog in the home already to help him acclimate. Looking for a new best friend and have some patience? Cuddles might be your guy! He's just 40 lbs and should be getting closer to full-grown. He's doing great with his foster but at this point still needs a home with a securely fenced in yard like his foster has as he's not yet leash trained and is anxious about a leash. He's a sweetheart once he relaxes with you and loves to play with other dogs and his people. 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply to apply! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Story
Meet Hazel ******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you area not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Hazel is a spayed, 8 month old female Great Pyrenees/Shepherd mix, currently weighing around 60lbs. She is in a foster home in Houston, TX, and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is found. Looking for a goofy, sweet ball of floof? Then Hazel is your girl! This adorable puppy LOVES other dogs, toys and food. She is crate and potty trained and has done well around the older kids she’s met. Because she wants ALL of the toys, older kids may be a better fit in her new home. Hazel would love an active family to help her burn off her puppy energy and to help her with basic manners and training. She’ll entertain you with her antics and house parkour and will make sure dinner is always right on time! Please let us know if Hazel could be your new best friend and adventure buddy! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** We do not know Hazel’s exact breed but we suspect she will be a large dog once fully grown. Her best fit will be with a family that understands what it means to raise a big, active pup into a well-mannered adult. We’re looking for adopters who will provide her with regular socialization, positive training, and plenty of outlets for exercise, play, and enrichment. For puppies this age, someone needs to be home more than they are away as crating them for long periods of time is not conducive for their developmental needs. If you work outside of the home longer than 4 hours, please explain who will is available to spend time with this puppy while you are away. If that information is not included, we will not consider your application. Interested in applying to adopt her? Story
Baby Cakes is currently in a rescue in Oklahoma. We are looking for a home in a state where people treat their animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport near one of the cities listed at the bottom. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. -Baby Cakes came in with five siblings after being abandoned in the woods in late February/early March 2025. All of her siblings have been adopted and are thriving in their new homes. -She is a special case that will need a loving, very patient home. She is very shy and needs to feel safe and loved. You can see her disposition in the YouTube video attached. -Just turned 1 year old (January 1st) -Approximately 50-55 pounds -DNA testing shows she is 74% Great Pyrenees/18% Miniature Australian Shepherd/8% Boxer -Does great with other dogs large and small, would probably help her come out of her shell more. Small, yappy dogs stress her out. -Would do well with one-on-one attention -Best environment would be a quiet home. If there are children in the home, they need to be over 14 years old or so. -Needs an elevated bed or soft bed to lay on -Would need a fenced yard since she would be a flight risk (at least in the beginning when she's learning to trust her new family). Watch her video: https://youtube.com/shorts/cRBr78S6TkM See the rescue video when her litter was found: https://www.facebook.com/61556973118844/videos/641365195044815 Baby Cakes is spayed, vaccinated (Rabies, DHLPPx3, Bordetella), has been dewormed and a fecal test, and on monthly flea/tick/HW prevention. Health certificate and exam will be performed less than 10 days prior to transport. Adoption fee is $600, this is including all vetting above and transport cost. Please fill out this application FIRST if you'd like to adopt Baby Cakes: https://form.jotform.com/243134969050053 After filling out the application, email luckypawsdoghouse@gmail.com or text/call 580-257-0622 if you'd like. Story
🐾 Big Bud Energy 🐾 Ever dreamed of a 100-pound shadow who follows you everywhere, adores car rides, and occasionally tries to fit his XXL self on your lap? Meet Bud, the ultimate “ride-or-die” best friend — emphasis on ride because this dude lives for car rides. 🚗💨 At 10 years old, Bud has perfected the art of chill. He’s loyal, affectionate, and devoted to his people — like, “wait by the door until you come home” devoted. He’s calm and gentle, with just enough stubborn streak to keep life interesting (translation: sometimes you’ll need to negotiate coming inside with a leash, not words 😅). Bud’s ideal day? ☀️ Morning walk to handle serious business (he prefers to poop anywhere but his yard — a man of principle). 🍳 Breakfast. Belly rubs. 🛋 Lounging near his humans, occasionally backing his butt into you for pets. 🌳 Afternoon car ride or a stroll at the park to sniff every single smell known to dogkind. 🌙 Dinner, one last stretch in the yard, and bedtime snuggles. He’s crate trained (but doesn’t need it), house trained (never an accident), respectful (unless you leave snacks at eye level), and has just the right amount of drool for a dog his size. Bud can hang out with other dogs in public — he’s a polite gentleman on walks and at the park — but let’s be real… he doesn’t want to share his home, his couch, or his humans. 😂 He’s happiest as your one and only big buddy, soaking up all the love for himself. He’s a little older, a little wiser, and still has plenty of gas in the tank for walks, car rides, and love. ❤️ So if you’re looking for a gentle giant who’ll be your best friend, car buddy, and emotional support goofball — Bud’s your guy. 🐶 10 years old | 100+ lbs | Loyal. Lovable. Lap-dog-at-heart.

Story
We are a group of happy, playful puppies full of curiosity and joy! Our days are spent pouncing, wrestling, playing tug-of-war, and exploring every nook and corner of the house. Adventure is our favorite job, and we take it very seriously. Food is another one of our great loves! Any trip to the kitchen must mean mealtime, and we’re happy to let you know just how hungry we are—even if we just finished eating. We are great with other dogs and kids, making us wonderful additions to families of all sizes. Our mama is a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix, and our dad is a Catahoula Leopard Dog, which means we’re expected to grow into large, strong, and loyal companions. With our playful personalities and affectionate nature, we’re ready to grow up in loving forever homes that can keep up with our energy and big hearts. Could one of us be the perfect addition to your family? Local adoption fee is $250(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)
