Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. The fluffy white Snowball is seeking her furever family!  She is a very happy and playful young girl, enjoying a romp around the yard with her tiny canine foster siblings, and then coming inside for a nap on the sofa.  She adores human attention and will seek it out everywhere she goes, from people big and small!  She has been on many outings with her foster mom, to places like the flea market, craft fairs, and stores!  This social butterfly will charm your guests when you host get-togethers, and then come in for some quiet time with her person, giving a warm hug and tucking her head into your chest with a sweet sigh.  All she wants is to love and please her humans, and her ideal home is with people who are around all the time, or want to bring her with them when they go out.  Snowball is so enamored with receiving attention that she will use her big frame to protect her person from other dogs’ attention.  This has gotten better over time and she’ll now wiggle between the other pups to find her human for pets.  As Snowball was found as a stray, it’s understandable that she’s probably afraid of being left behind.  Snowball hopes for a 6’ fenced-in yard where she can run out her zoomies with a doggie pal or two, and show you her impression of hopping like a bunny and galloping like a horse!  This cutie’s favorite things include car rides, belly rubs, tennis balls and soft plushy toys, as well as biscuits and pup cups!  She is an absolute joy, and you will giggle as you watch her play in the rain, and when she sleeps on her back with all her legs sticking up in the air.  If you’re ready for the world’s most affectionate sweetheart to join your family, look no further than Snowball! NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Snowball in AL  Age: 1 yr 7 mos old as of April 2024  Color: white  Dew Claws: yes, double  Estimated Adult Weight: 75 lbs  Current Location: NGPR approved foster in Ohatchee, AL  Medical: Spayed, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. This dog travels with a Interstate Health Certificate required by the USDA confirming that all the above criteria have been met. Housebroken: yes  Can be Placed With: Dogs, Kids, Cats  Fencing: Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed. Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for senior dogs (7 or older) and foster dogs will be adjusted accordingly.  NYS Registered Rescue # RR102   Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We may consider fostering for some of our dogs who are in boarding. Please visit Fostering FAQfor an application and information about our fostering program. If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page. Please complete the adoption application and visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about Pyrs and our adoption process. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt rescue who has been rescuing the breed for 15 years.  Visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our online application. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply.  We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes and not all of them are posted. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. When you meet Henry, you will love him. All the charm of the breed is rolled up into a 105-pound package of Pyr-boy fun! This handsome 4-year old is always interested in playing, so a home with other dogs would suit him really well. He gets along with, and has lived with, both male and female dogs. Henry has double dew claws and came to rescue from a Kentucky breeder in the Fall of 2020 when he was a big, clumsy pup. He was adopted years ago, but his Pyrents have split up, so Henry needs a new foster or furever home. He can be quite puppyish, and wants to meet everyone and do everything, so be prepared for adventure with this fun pup. He is easy to please though, as a stick is still his favorite toy. Henry has mastered the “sit” and “down" commands with biscuit bribes, and we think he can learn many more if properly encouraged, and in a home that loves and understands the breed. Please fill out our online adoption application to see if Henry is the right Pyr for you. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Let me introduce you to the magnificent and handsome Bear! He is a Great Pyrenees and Golden Retriever mix with a stunningly long white and golden coat. This sweet boy is both playful and gentle. Playing with toys is one of his favorite past times, so he hopes that his furever family will have a great big box full of stuffies for him! He would love to be the only dog in the home, so he can soak up all the human attention for himself. Bear has a fondness for belly rubs and being brushed, so get ready to keep your hands busy by showering this adorable guy with pets! He’s also very smart and learns things quickly - He’s already leash trained and knows “sit,” “lay down,” and “shake”! It helps that he’s food-motivated. Bear is a total foodie and enjoys mealtime immensely. This happy boy is content both inside and outdoors, rarely barks, and doesn’t dig. A 5’ fence will keep this giant fluff content in his yard. He is a joy and a big lovable goof, and he can’t wait to share his love and standing hugs with his new family! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Handsome, young gentleman is the best way to describe this Pyr mix boy! His personality matches his striking face and gorgeous coat. Don’t let his looks fool you as he is extremely smart too! This boy came into rescue after he and his sisters were dumped by their owners at a shelter. It was obvious they had little people attention and food was not plentiful. His past did not stop him, and while he can be shy at first meeting, he is quickly learning people equal so many wonderful things in life! He is great for groomings, has learned to walk on a leash, and that the house has its perks too! This boy simply loves attention of any kind! He is good in a crate and even responds to his name. Cats --Landrey loves any and all—he enjoys them rubbing all over him and just can’t get enough of them! He and his sisters did not know how to play but now have learned to be carefree and enjoy a good game of chase getting on great with all the dogs! Since he didn’t have consistent meals prior to rescue, we recommend feeding separate so he doesn’t have to worry, and can enjoy his big bowl of kibble! Landry has not been around children, but with his gentle nature and laid-back personality, he should be fine with those raised around large breed dogs. Families with large breed experience, a fenced yard, another dog to play with, and even a kitty or two would be Landrey’s PYRfect family! If you are looking for a young pup who is ready to soak up all the attention and training you have to offer, Landrey is your boy!
