Luke Skybarker is a cute 3-month old male (possible) Great Pyrenees mix who was brought to the HSOV on September 18th 2026 by the Marietta (Ohio) Police Department after this puppy's family apparently moved and left him behind. Luke has a white-and-black medium-haired/fluffy coat, a long tail, and a beautiful symmetrically-marked face with expressive brown eyes, a dusting of white on his slender muzzle, and large floppy ears Luke weighed 15 lbs on September 18th 2026. This sweet boy has a lovable, playful personality .. And is very much a puppy with normal puppy behavior (chewing etc). He is working on his housetraining routine. Luke is good with other dogs (especially puppies) and should be ok with older children. Luke was in a foster home for several weeks after he was abandoned. He is currently in our shelter and enjoys being in the front office during the daytime. Since he was not reclaimed, Luke Skybarker is available for fostering/foster-to-adopt with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application. Update: Luke Skybarker went home with a foster family on October 18th 2026 who plans to adopt him after he is neutered. Luke Skybarker was returned by his foster family on October 24th 2026 because the family's dog would not accept Luke. So another lucky family will have the opportunity to foster or foster-to-adopt Luke Skybarker with an approved HSOV adoption application.

Great Pyrenees 2 thumbnail We recently took in a 5 year old purebred unaltered Great Pyrenees from someone unable to keep their pet but he wasn’t a great fit for what we were looking for. He is a wonderful dog and a very good boy but needs a little more work with guarding goats. With some training, I believe he would be a great livestock guardian. He is great with other dogs and children. He would also be a great pet. We are heartbroken to have to find another home for him but unfortunately we just don’t have the time to devote to training.
