COURTESY LISTINGThis dog is a courtesy listing (not in the AARF program) but we will be reviewing applications and helping the owner find the right home for Oreo. Please visit http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply. Meet Oreo, a handsome, happy-go-lucky 4-year-old, 70lb Great Pyrenees / Lab mix who brings the perfect blend of outdoor enthusiasm and indoor calm. Outside, Oreo loves to stretch his legs, run, play, and explore—whether he has playmates or is entertaining himself, a securely fenced in yard is a must for this big boy. Inside, he shifts gears into a much more relaxed companion who’s content to share the couch with you or another dog. He’s a big boy, so his joyful tail wags can be powerful, but they’re full of love. Oreo is a wonderful greeter and delights in welcoming you home with excitement and affection. He happily soaks up all the attention you’ll give and, if you let him, will gladly curl up beside you at night. He knows “no,” “down,” and “sit,” though sitting outside takes him a moment—he’s just so eager to enjoy the outdoors. He’s fully housetrained and crate-friendly, especially if he’s offered a chew toy; once he’s settled in, he naps contentedly. This lovable giant gets along beautifully with visitors of all sizes and is respectful of cats—he’s quickly learned that claws mean business. While not a watchdog, he makes up for it with his friendly charm. Oreo does pull on the leash and can get excited about chasing cars, wildlife, or ATVs, so he’ll benefit from continued guidance/training and safe spaces to run. Car rides aren’t his favorite yet, but with a seatbelt strap and reassurance, he manages just fine. Oreo would thrive in a country setting, a home with property, or an active household that can give him room to play and enjoy life. He’s incredibly sweet and gentle at heart, but due to his size and enthusiasm, he’d do best in a home without small children or elderly individuals who could be knocked over accidentally. If you’re looking for a big, affectionate companion with a playful spirit and a loving soul, Oreo is ready to fill your home with joy, tail wags, and warm snuggles.    Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: http://aarf-tn.com/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption. December 5, 2025, 9:55 am

Story
Mac is a 4 year old (approximately) GP mix. Mac is the most loving and loyal dog and is protective of his people. He lives with a couple of semi-feral cats and considers them friends. His best friend is a female dog he hangs out with at doggy daycare. He LOVES doggy daycare, but there are a few pups there that he does not like. Mac can hold a grudge. He is pretty selective when it comes to other dogs. Mac loves toys and treats and getting brushed. He loves his veterinarian and his former trainer (he knows the basics, but like any GP he can be stubborn).Mac hates vegetables, school buses and getting his ears cleaned. He is definitely not a working dog. He is a snuggly couch potato. But, Mac is bored. His protective nature and leash reactivity make it a challenge for his people to walk him enough. He is currently the king of a very small castle (townhouse) and would be most happy with a fenced yard to patrol. He does take affordable meds daily for a well-controlled chronic gum issue.
