Meet Waddles! Waddles is a classic Great Pyrenees through and through—calm, steady, soulful, and full of quiet charm. This mellow senior enjoys the simple things in life: a peaceful spot to relax, a kind human by his side, and of course… snacks. He’s all in for treats, back scratches, and low-key hangout time. As Waddles gets comfortable with you, his sweet personality really shines. He’ll lean in for those magical chin scratches and give you that deep, gentle Pyrenees gaze—the kind that melts your heart without a single word spoken. Recently, Waddles enjoyed a full grooming session with staff, and he was an absolute gentleman. He may act like the dignified guardian his breed is known for, but underneath that fluffy exterior is a soft, loving companion who just wants to feel safe and cared for. Waddles would thrive in a quiet, peaceful home where trust can grow slowly and naturally. With patience and tenderness, he’ll become a loyal, comforting friend—one who’s always happy to share calm moments and quiet love. If you’re looking for a serene, gentle companion who brings warmth to any room, Waddles is ready to settle in and adore you. 🐾🤍

Story
Adeline is a two year old Great Pyrenees mix with double rear dew claws, a soft presence, and a calm, loyal nature. At about sixty pounds, she is a compact girl for her breed mix, and she carries herself with a gentle confidence that makes her easy to love. She is tidy, appears fully house trained, and keeps her space neat. She enjoys following her people from room to room and settles beautifully once she knows the routine. Adeline is affectionate, easygoing, and eager to please. She loves cuddling on the furniture with her trusted humans, riding in the car, strolling on a loose lead, and keeping an eye on household happenings. She will be the first to alert you when a delivery truck pulls into the driveway, and she takes her job as neighborhood watch very seriously. Once the intruders retreat, she settles quickly. She does well in her crate and will settle after a short period of protest, but she much prefers the freedom to sleep near her people. She knows several cues, including sit, down, and name recognition, and is working on off. Counter surfing is a temptation, but she responds immediately to redirection and is very receptive to guidance. She is smart, observant, and wonderfully food motivated. Adeline has been kind and patient with children, especially six year olds in her foster home. She does well with male dogs and small dogs, and she has learned to coexist with a large female dog through slow introductions. She has not been exposed to cats. As a nursing mother, her interactions with other dogs have been limited, but she has shown lovely potential for polite canine friendships. She rides beautifully in the car, walks calmly unless wildlife or significant stimuli appear, and even likes to carry her leash around the house as a prized belonging.Adeline is a gentle, affectionate companion who wants nothing more than a soft place to rest her head and a family to adore. Once her puppies are fully independent, she will be ready for her spay and for the next chapter of her life. She will make a loyal, loving addition to a home that appreciates her sweet nature, steady spirit, and watchful heart. At Green Dogs Unleashed (GDU), we are dedicated to ensuring the successful placement of our dogs in loving, permanent homes. Over the years, we have seen an increasing number of returns due to behavioral issues that could have been prevented with the right support. A significant percentage of these returns involve out-of-area clients or those who have not completed training with GDU. To address this, positive reinforcement training with Green Dogs Unleashed is required as a condition for all adoptions. Preference for this dog will be given to adopters who commit to signing up for and completing our six-week Canine 101 training class in person at our headquarters in Troy, VA. Secondary consideration will be given to a limited number of out-of-area adopters who agree to complete one private lesson with GDU, either in person or virtually, and attend a pre-approved positive reinforcement training class in their area. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##2567936##

Story
Juno was born on December 4, 2023. We brought him home on February 19, 2024. He came from local farm and was raised around other farm animals. He has grown up with cats and a small mix breed dog. House broken, very loving, needs lots of attention. My family just does not have enough hours in the day for him. He is up-to-date on shots, micro-chipped and GPS fence trained. He has a lot of love and energy to share. He currently lives on 8 acres and is free to roam when we are home. He seems bored at times and I believe he would be happier on a farm with live stock to guard. He would benefit greatly with some training (or someone familiar with the breed) as he exhibits resource guarding at times.

Story
Yuki is a 2 year old 86 pound Great Pyrenees! He is being fostered in Huntsville,AL and is available for transport and the approved adopter will be responsible for the transport fee. Yuki was primarily raised as an indoor pup without other pup playmates, so exhibits some stress when alone. He has loved being at his foster’s with a big yard and other dogs to play with. He does well with dogs of all sizes and has quickly realized and become sensitive to the fact that he is too large for some of his 20 lb playmates, which is really good. He has become pretty gentle in his few weeks at his fosters, primarily because he gets a lot of outdoor play time. He does need a pup playmate close to his size that provides him a since of security. He has been diagnosed with a seizure issue and takes daily medication, levetirace, for it. His foster is still learning about him, but so far, he is just a great happy boy. If you are interested in adopting Yuki please fill out an application on our website forrescue.net. He is being fostered in Huntsville, AL.
