Story
Austin, TX. We need to rehome this beautiful greyhound/Shepherd mix. Six years old, loves to play and run. Loving and healthy - approx. 80 pounds. All shots current and no health issues. Unfortunately we are moving into a small apartment and cannot take him with us. His name is Jake. He is microchipped and has all current shots , a dog bed , collar, etc. He would be best fit for someone who has a yard for him to run in and play with other dogs. Loves to go on walks and not aggressive. We are moving in June , so it is important that we need to do this ASAP

Story
(5/5/2026 update) Eli! What a special boy. He is as “plug and play” and “move in ready” as a pup could ever be. He is 11 months old and can have some puppy exuberance, but he is very social with both people and dogs, he has no reactivity, and he can be taken anywhere. He is easy to exercise and when he gets enough exercise he is genuinely the perfectly behaved dog. When I picked him up from the jail program one week ago he was very timid about getting in the car and needed to be picked up and put in. He now confidently gets in and out of the car with grace whenever asked. He is house trained, knows his name, is very good with “sit” and “down”, and sleeps in his crate.Eli is one of the lucky dogs who participated in our new program Enduring Service! This program pairs a shelter dog with inmates at the Travis State Jail to complete a 12-week basic training course. Upon graduation, he received a course certificate of completion and a goodie bag to go home with his adoptive family (hopefully soon!)Eli is not currently onsite at the shelter but to learn more about him and how to adopt, select the “Get Started” button to hear from his current foster.Eli is an energetic, playful pup who will thrive with an active family committed to spending time with him. He loves chasing a ball, running around, and staying engaged with his people. Eli is kennel trained for both daytime and nighttime routines, making him a great fit for a structured home. He gets along well with most other dogs and already knows several basic commands, including sit, shake (paw), and lay down. He's currently working on leash skills like heel, as well as stay and come, and is eager to keep learning. With continued guidance, playtime, and love, Eli will make a loyal and fun companion.April 28, 2026 - I had the honor of attending the graduation of the first group of dogs from AAS to participate in the Enduring Service program at the Travis State Jail. Eli was the first of the dogs to catch my eye because of his friendly countenance and demeanor as well as his adorable freckles and spots. When I learned he was one of the few dogs that did not yet have a foster, I made the impulsive decision to bring him home to foster. I wanted his handlers to feel assured that he would not just be going back to the shelter. This ~50lb pup is the epitome of good natured, and he is acclimating impressively well already. He had zero reactivity on the leash when we went for our first walk. And his heart-melting skill of dropping a tennis ball for himself and catching it on the rebound is too precious for words (I will try to get a video). This special guy is going to blossom in beautiful ways, and I hope he gets to put down roots in his forever home soon! Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brindle Weight: 52.4 Age: 0yrs 11mths 3wks

Story
We are looking to rehome our 4 year old dog, StellaLuna. She was rescued in 2023 and had quite a bit of trauma when we found her. She was starved, so she becomes aggressive towards other dogs around food. Up until this last week, separating her and our other dog during meals had kept this behavior from growing, but Thursday evening she severely attacked our other dog without warning. Our other dog is alive, but acquired several injuries. We are also about to have another baby, and are nervous this behavior could continue towards her. She is a very loving and sweet dog to her humans, and has done wonderfully with our other 2 children (6 and 8), but as a precaution, she really needs to be in a home that does not have other animals or toddler sized children. She is fully vaccinated but not spayed. We are asking for a rehoming fee of $50 in order to assure she goes to a loving home.

Story
Banana Cream is a gentle, easygoing sweetheart with impeccable house manners and a heart as soft as his favorite stuffed toy. He’s the kind of dog who settles seamlessly into a home—calm, affectionate, and wonderfully well behaved. This handsome guy is fully potty trained, non-destructive, and can comfortably be left home alone all day. Most of the time, he’s perfectly content snoozing, lounging in the backyard, or quietly relaxing around the house. Banana Cream absolutely loves people. Whether it’s friends stopping by, dinner guests, or an entire book club gathering, he greets everyone with happy excitement and a toy proudly carried in his mouth. Despite his enthusiasm, he’s incredibly polite and never jumps on people. After saying hello, he’s happy to settle back down nearby and soak up the company. He also enjoys the companionship of other respectful dogs and currently lives happily with two canine friends, often cuddling up and sharing beds with them. He would do best with calm, friendly dogs who respect his space. Banana Cream is also an excellent car companion. He happily hops in, curls up after a few minutes, and calmly rides along—even with another dog in the backseat. Whether he’s lounging in a sunny spot, flopping dramatically on the couch mid-nap, or proudly delivering his favorite stuffie to visitors, Banana Cream brings a peaceful, lovable presence wherever he goes. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-maintenance companion with a goofy side and lots of love to give, Banana Cream may just be your perfect match.
