Story
Spicing up the world with her quiet resilience, a handsome dog named Nutmeg is ready to bring a touch of warmth to a patient home. She stands out immediately with her gorgeous, richly textured coat of reddish-brown and dark brindle swirls, paired with highly expressive, semi-pricked ears that turn attentively toward every new sound. Arriving as a brave survivor during the 2026 Texas floods, this sweet girl is learning to navigate life with a beautiful blend of caution and curiosity. While the bustling shelter environment can cause her to feel quite nervous, her true, bright personality shines through during quiet field trips to local parks. As she explores fresh air and grassy spaces, her natural intelligence and sweet curiosity take over, helping her overcome her initial hesitation. She is remarkably smart and exceptionally food-motivated, showing a keen interest in tasty treats that help build her confidence in new situations. Caretakers note that she is incredibly brave, often choosing to step out of her comfort zone to gently approach people for affection. She benefits greatly from a slow, careful approach, rewards patience by opening up fairly quickly, and shows a deeply companionable nature once she feels safe. A calm, predictable household is exactly what this good-natured girl needs to truly blossom. Come down and meet Nutmeg to bring a lifetime of quiet devotion into your home today.

Story
Sweet Sophie thought she had found her forever home, but unfortunately it wasn’t the right fit because she does NOT do well with cats. So this sweet girl is back with her foster and hoping the right family sees her this time! 🏡💕 Sophie is approximately 2 years old and 35 lbs. She is a happy, affectionate girl with the cutest smile and gets along well with people and other dogs but not cats. Sophie is currently located in Austin while she waits for her forever home. She is also currently undergoing heartworm treatment, but please don’t let that stop you from considering her! Furever Friends and Rescue is covering the cost of her heartworm treatment, and Sophie CAN be adopted now while completing treatment. ❤️ Sophie deserves a family who will give her the happy ending she’s been waiting for. If you don’t have cats and are looking for a sweet, loving companion, she may be your girl! 🥰 📧 Interested in adopting Sophie? fureverfriendsandrescue@gmail.com 🌐 fureverfriendsandrescue.com 📱 Follow us on Facebook: Furever Friends and Rescue Sophie's former adopter sent us some notes to help describe her..... -extremely playful/loves to fetch (still working on dropping it but swap for another ball and that works) and likes to play surgeon on her stuffies 🙂 -loooves belly, back and neck scratches -enjoys cuddling near and on her people -sits calmly while harness is being put on for a walk -knows “sit,” shake, comes to her name and has understanding of “ leave it” (except with cats or little outside critters) and "stay" -learned how to play “find it” with treats hidden around the house -goes into her crate on her own when time for bed and sleeps through the night without issues -left out (not crated) during the day (few hours at a time) and has not chewed anything -once she gets to know you she will let you know she needs to go outside by doing a little whimper and trying extra hard to get your attention -prefers a home without cats as she is over aroused by them/high prey drive

Story
Banana Cream is a gentle, easygoing sweetheart with impeccable house manners and a heart as soft as his favorite stuffed toy. He’s the kind of dog who settles seamlessly into a home—calm, affectionate, and wonderfully well behaved. This handsome guy is fully potty trained, non-destructive, and can comfortably be left home alone all day. Most of the time, he’s perfectly content snoozing, lounging in the backyard, or quietly relaxing around the house. Banana Cream absolutely loves people. Whether it’s friends stopping by, dinner guests, or an entire book club gathering, he greets everyone with happy excitement and a toy proudly carried in his mouth. Despite his enthusiasm, he’s incredibly polite and never jumps on people. After saying hello, he’s happy to settle back down nearby and soak up the company. He also enjoys the companionship of other respectful dogs and currently lives happily with two canine friends, often cuddling up and sharing beds with them. He would do best with calm, friendly dogs who respect his space. Banana Cream is also an excellent car companion. He happily hops in, curls up after a few minutes, and calmly rides along—even with another dog in the backseat. Whether he’s lounging in a sunny spot, flopping dramatically on the couch mid-nap, or proudly delivering his favorite stuffie to visitors, Banana Cream brings a peaceful, lovable presence wherever he goes. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-maintenance companion with a goofy side and lots of love to give, Banana Cream may just be your perfect match.

Story
I adopted Miah back right before Covid hit. She has been a great guard dog and she is also housetrained with peepads. She does have a lot of energy so she likes to run around the yard and she’s very playful and likes belly rubs. I did have a yard so she would prefer to run around more than to be an inside dog. I am having to move to a different location and I will be unable to give her the type of life that she is used to. I am unsure of how she would interact with other dogs, but I did have a cat living with us for two years and they got along just fine. She can be very overprotective so I would probably proceed with caution when having her interact with other dogs. She does have a kennel that she sleeps in as well so she knows how to be kenneled she does understand commands like sit, and if you tell her to go to her kennel, she will. I am not sure what her background breed is, but I looked up a golden greyhound and it looks just like her. I adopted her from the Humane Society.

Story
Rosie was a pet of my coworker who could not take her in her apartment due to the fees. I volunteered to house her until my coworker was able to get the pet back. Coworker later said the dog had been with me for a while and did not want the animal back. I kept the animal, she is extremely hyper, has destroyed all animal beds, by back door. Just recently, the dog damaged my neighbor's fence which I have to replace. I can no longer maintain this animal. This animal deserves room to run free or someone that can match her energy. Most of the time she is separated from my small animals because the dog does not know her own strength or how to interact with the other pets.
