Story
At just 7 months old, Sparrow should be learning how to be someone`s best friend—not how to navigate life in a shelter. This adorable black-and-tan puppy is right at the age where she should be discovering household routines, practicing good manners, and building confidence with a family of her own. Instead, Sparrow is trying to make sense of the sights, sounds, and stress of shelter life. It`s an overwhelming place for any puppy, especially one who`s still figuring out the world.Despite everything, Sparrow has captured the hearts of the staff and volunteers who care for her. They see the sweet, young dog she is and know she`ll thrive once she`s in a loving home where she can finally relax and focus on being a puppy. At around 25 pounds, Sparrow still has some growing to do—and so does her confidence. With patience, positive training, and plenty of love, she`ll have the chance to become the amazing companion she`s meant to be.Puppies don`t stay puppies for long. Sparrow deserves to spend these important months chasing toys, learning new tricks, and falling asleep at her family`s feet—not growing up behind kennel walls. Could you be the one to give her the childhood every puppy deserves? This scared baby recently met some social dogs at our shelter and did fine.  She wasn’t ready to play, but we hope that as she gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, she’ll be ready to show us her silly side with other dogs.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out her playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

Story
Meet Dutton! Sweet Dutton is looking for his forever home! He was pulled from the Stockton Shelter at approximately 4 months old after being found running stray with another puppy, and had a bit of a rough start after developing a vaccine reaction that resulted in temporary distemper symptoms. Luckily with time and care he recovered quickly, and has been fairly healthy ever since! Dutton loves his people. He lives with dogs his size of both sexes; when introduced properly he can be playful and he loves his canine foster siblings. Cats and small dogs are not a fit. Dutton is listed as 'Special Needs' due to allergies and anxiety. After all he's been through he's an extra sensitive soul, and is beginning a behavioral training course with a reputable trainer based out of the Sacramento area to work through those anxious tendencies and help him learn to feel safe and secure in new situations. He would do best with a foster or adopter who worked from home (or spends time at home frequently) as he is a bit of a velcro dog. The ideal foster or adopter for Dutton will be willing to participate in training with him - the costs of this upcoming course have been covered by the rescue and are included in his adoption fee. Allergy-wise, Dutton had a full allergen panel completed after experiencing a skin reaction, and is now known to be sensitive to peanuts, soy/legumes, and tumbleweeds (of all things!). He is currently undergoing an immunotherapy treatment to alleviate his reactions to these allergens, which we hope will lessen the need for regular allergy medications in the future.
